Chapter 1 - The Assassin's Code

The clock was ticking. But time, for Kai, never moved the same way for others.

Kai Voss crouched on the rooftop of a skyscraper, his eyes locked onto the target. Below, the crowd moved like a river of oblivious souls, unaware of the storm gathering above them. He adjusted the frequency of his watch—a sleek, black band that vibrated with raw quantum power. Time was his weapon. And like any weapon, it had its limits.

The target was a man named Dr. Vincent Carver, a scientist who had created a machine capable of breaking the laws of physics. It was supposed to be a breakthrough for humanity—but in the wrong hands, it could unravel the very fabric of existence. Kai had been assigned to stop him. Permanently.

He pressed a button on the watch and rewound. The world around him distorted. People froze. Buildings blurred into streaks of color. Kai stood still, his heartbeat slowing, his senses sharpening. For him, it was a calm stillness, but for everyone else? It was a distortion of reality.

One minute to go.

Kai reappeared in the present time, now standing just a few meters from Carver's front door. The scientist was a man of power and influence, but Kai wasn't concerned about that. He was concerned about the timebomb his machine posed to the world.

But something felt... wrong.

As Kai prepared to breach the door, a sudden thought echoed in his mind: What if you're too late?

He glanced down at his watch again. The countdown had begun. It was ticking down to zero.
