Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Techniques...

But no matter how high the goals Lon set for himself, he couldn't even walk properly!

Every movement was difficult. His body resisted as if he were a stranger here.

Lon moved slowly around the room, feeling a slight tremor in his legs. He already knew that this world was nothing like his own.

It wasn't just another city or country — it was an entirely different reality, one he would have to study.

«I just need to get used to it. I don't think it will take too long.» — Lon sighed, estimating his chances.

His mind gradually stopped bouncing between memories, though the sense of duality still lingered.

But it was getting much better.

He had spent three days in this world, and during that time, many things had become more or less clear.

Namely, that he was Renvel. The eldest son of Donald, the brother of Santi. And, apparently, he worked in some kind of government organization.

If he wasn't mistaken — it was the "Air Technical Maintenance — Seon." Its main goal was servicing various types of air transport.

And that was exactly where the explosion had occurred, the one that had almost killed Renvel. After that, they had moved him here. Where I woke up as him...

«Interesting…»

Lon's gaze became as sharp as an eagle's, and something inside him told him that things weren't so simple.

«An explosion... Why did a newly built engine explode? Especially one connected to the World Threads?»

«Maybe... A malfunction? I don't think so. Mechanisms connected to the World Threads are among the best. And the engine's components were top-notch — after all, Ronland never deceives its buyers. Otherwise, it wouldn't be the leading city-state in the East.»

Hundreds of different questions flooded Lon's mind about possible engine failures that could have led to the disaster. But he couldn't find any answers.

An engine malfunction was a multifaceted problem, where even a single speck of dust or poor-quality material could be the cause.

In short, there were plenty of potential reasons for the engine failure — far too many.

Finding the right one would be a difficult task that would require great effort.

At that moment, the door swung open, and two men entered the room.

The first was Gredoric — his boss. A tall, sturdy man with graying hair. His gaze was stern, but one could see fairness in his eyes.

Behind him was Dilon — a short, middle-aged man with jet-black hair. His eyes looked tired, yet they hid a kind nature.

— Renvel, — Gredoric spoke, carefully studying him. — How are you feeling?

Lon hesitated for a second at the sudden visit but quickly pulled himself together and replied:

— Much better, Mr. Gredoric. — His voice was slightly tense as he tried to sound as natural as possible.

Dilon, standing nearby, let out a relieved sigh.

— Thank the heavens you're alright, Renvel. The nurse told us you might have some issues with your head... — Dilon gave a bitter smile. — We thought...

— That I wouldn't be the same? — Lon finished the sentence, trying to sound casual.

— Yes, exactly, — Dilon nodded. — You were waking up in the middle of the night… convulsing and shaking, as if possessed by a demon... But I'm glad you're back to normal.

Lon was slightly taken aback.

«Who would have thought Dilon would almost uncover the truth…»

Smiling, Lon responded:

— Thank you. — Then his expression grew more serious. — Is there a reason for this sudden visit?

He immediately heard a heavy sigh from Gredoric, who then said:

— Yes, we're here because of the explosion.

Lon tensed up even more inside. He was waiting for an explanation, but his boss wasn't in a hurry to continue, as if weighing his words carefully.

Then, shaking his head slightly, he finally spoke:

— The Seon Guard is still trying to determine the exact cause of the explosion. But… they have only two theories.

He raised one finger and said:

— The first: that it was a planned detonation. The second: that the Technicians are involved...

After hearing that, Lon tensed even more.
