A very worried lady was pacing in front of the hotel door. Her face betrayed a deep concern, especially when she saw her son, Elie, getting out of a car.
"Elie, is it now that you're here? Where have you been?" she exclaimed with a hint of anxiety in her voice.
Elie, always calm, replied, "Sorry, Mom! So, where are we for the ceremony?"
His mother, although relieved that her son was finally there, couldn't help but feel a slight unease upon seeing the young girl next to him.
"Everything is in place, but…" she began.
"Don't worry, I've already found the solution, so everything is fine! The ceremony can begin!" Elie confidently interrupted.
The long-awaited moment had finally arrived: the wedding of Elie and Elsa. The two lovers stood there, ready to exchange their vows. The voice of the priest resonated in the solemn air: "I declare you husband and wife!"
A thunderous applause erupted after this declaration. The guests admired the celebration with joy. Suddenly, a man approached Elie's mother to congratulate her.
"Congratulations on your son, Mrs. SEO! It's a pity your husband didn't come with you for such an important day!" he said with a friendly smile.
"Thank you!" she replied with a polite smile.
The man continued, "I never thought your son would get married before ours after his accident." A silly smile adorned his face.
Elie's mother, somewhat taken aback by this remark, asked, "Ha! Ha! Really? But how old is your son?"
"He's only 16 years old, but you never know. After all, he's doing very well!" replied the man optimistically.
At that moment, Elsa, who was standing next to Elie's mother, began to mumble to herself while observing the man in front of them.
"I hope he doesn't take after his father as he grows up; otherwise, he might be single for life. Well, I hope!" she thought ironically. Then leaning towards Elie, she whispered: "Don't worry about what he just said. I just wished him a ton of misfortune so he won't make that face next time. Misfortune knows me very well right now that it could grant this wish of mine. We're used to being together wherever we go."
Elie calmly replied: "You don't have to worry about that. Anyway, I've already gotten used to it since my accident."
Elsa retorted mischievously: "You have a bad habit!"
Elie smiled back: "Not as much as yours anyway!"
"I won't argue with you on that! But don't worry; I have even more bad habits and I won't run out of reserves so I'm counting on you, my dear husband! Take care of me!" she said with a wink.
Elie shrugged with a knowing smile: "And I'm supposed to feel reassured by that?"
Elsa laughed back at him: "You're the one who asked me to marry you without knowing me so that's part of your responsibility!"
Their complicity lit up this memorable day as the future opened up before them like a vast horizon filled with adventures and mysteries.
