Chapter 8 - chapter eight

The weekend came, and as Dami had promised, she was taking Helena for her first driving lesson.

They arrived at the field, a large, open space that used to be the school's football pitch until the new one was built closer to campus. It was well-maintained, and people occasionally came there to have picnics or relax.

Helena sat in the driver's seat, her hands on the wheel, staring at the controls. She was nervous and excited all at once—she'd never driven before, and this was another first for her and she was experiencing it with Dami.

"Okay, first things first," Dami began. "The steering wheel. You need that to move left and right."

Helena laughed. "Of course I know that."

"This isn't funny," Dami frowned. "This car is my baby."

Helena nodded quickly, her expression growing serious.

"Brakes and accelerator—very important," Dami continued, her tone firm. "You can't mix them up. If you do, you die. Okay?"

Helena bit back a smile as she glanced at Dami. She had seen happy Dami, bored Dami, and flirty Dami, but never this serious side of her. It was new, and she liked it—it felt like she was getting to know another layer of her.

"The gears: park, drive, reverse. These are the basics. Any questions?"

Helena repeated the instructions in her head and nodded.

"Good." Dami continued, "The keys go in there. Mirrors help you see behind you, but we don't need those for now. Turn the key and start the car."

Helena did as she was told, her heart skipping a beat as the engine hummed to life beneath her.

"Hear that? That's what a good car sounds like," Dami said proudly. "Now, you only need your right foot. Put it on the brake."

Helena obeyed, and Dami nodded approvingly. "Good girl."

Helena blushed at the praise, but Dami ignored it, focused on the lesson. "Now, press it down all the way. Good. Move the gear to 'Drive.' Slowly raise your foot off the brake—slowly."

Helena's grin widened as the car began to roll forward.

The lesson lasted an hour. Dami covered all the basics, repeating instructions as needed and staying calm when Helena made mistakes. By the end of it, Helena was so overwhelmed with gratitude she almost cried.

"Thank you," she said softly as Dami drove them back to her apartment.

"You're welcome," Dami replied. "Honestly, you're a fast learner. You'll be driving in no time."

Helena blushed again and tried to hide it behind her hands.

"Don't do that," Dami said gently. "I love seeing it."

"Really?" Helena asked shyly.

"Really. It's cute. I like making you blush," Dami admitted.

Back at Dami's apartment, she unlocked the door and let Helena step inside first.

"Helena," Dami called out softly.

"Yeah?"

"Come here."

Helena walked toward her, and Dami reached out, gently pulling her closer by the waist. The air between them felt electric, charged with unspoken tension. One hand slid to the back of Helena's head, and then Dami kissed her.

It wasn't like their first kiss. This one was deeper, more intense, and Helena felt her knees weaken. Sensing this, Dami scooped her up effortlessly, making Helena giggle against her lips.

Helena felt Dami bite her lower lip slightly, she gasps and deepened the kiss pulling her even closer, Helena moaned embracing the heat creeping into her bones.

"We should stop," Dami managed, in-between breaths.

"No don't," Helena protested, breathless, "show me, teach me!" She begged, taking off her top and pulling on Dami's.

And that was all it took for Dami's resolve to shatter. She took Helena's hand and led her into the room, she led her to sit on the bed and stood in front of her, a small smile playing on her lips.

"What?" Helena asked, feeling shy.

"You are beautiful," Dami whispered

The rest of the night was spent wrapped in each other's warmth, breaking barriers they hadn't dared to cross before. They moved with an unspoken rhythm, exploring and discovering each other in every way possible. Their breaths and sounds intertwined forming one beautiful song.

They lay side by side afterward, their breaths mingling in the quiet room.

"Hela," Dami whispered softly, using the nickname for the first time.

Helena smiled, her heart swelling at the sound. "Yes?"

"Will you be my girlfriend?"

The answer slipped from Helena's lips before Dami could finish the question.

"Yes."

"Good girl," Dami murmured with a grin.

Helena smiled, watching as Dami drifted off to sleep beside her.
