Chapter 29 - 15. “Trap and Countermove”

Location: Dominic's Private Office

Time: 10:00 AM

Dominic was up early.

He called in his aide and spoke in a calm, low voice.

"Let's verify whether the intel Angie gave us is real."

He never trusted her blindly.

This was a test — a trap.

The Plan:

1.Leak false information.

2.Observe if Vincent's team acts on it.

3.If they do — Angie is a traitor.

4.If they don't — she's still aligned with Vincent.

"Spread the word that we're leaving the city to eliminate Vincent."

The aide raised a brow.

"You want them to think we're pulling out?"

Dominic smiled.

"Exactly. If they bite… she's finished."

Location: Dominic's Mansion – VIP Lounge

Time: 12:45 PM

Angie sat with her coffee, having just heard the false intel from Dominic's aide.

But her instincts told her something else.

This was a trap.

Dominic was testing her.

If she passed this directly to Vincent, she'd be exposed.

She took a slow sip.

'How do I respond…?'

If Vincent didn't act on the info, Dominic would grow suspicious.

If he did, she'd be marked.

Angie made a choice:

Don't deliver the intel directly.

Instead, deceive Dominic another way.

She looked up and said casually to the aide,

"Tell Dominic I'll help spread the information."

Location: Vincent's Safehouse – War Room

Time: 3:00 PM

Vincent, Feynman, Aiden, and Angie gathered.

Angie spoke,

"Intel says Dominic plans to leave the city."

Vincent folded his arms and watched her closely.

Feynman let out a low whistle.

"Too good to be true."

Aiden leaned in.

"Can we trust this?"

Angie nodded with just enough conviction.

"It's solid — but we shouldn't rush."

Her goal:

1.Delay Vincent's response.

2.Make Dominic second-guess his trap.

3.Use that delay to expose Dominic's real moves.

Vincent narrowed his eyes.

"She thinks we'll fall for this?"

But Angie didn't act like someone hiding deceit.

If anything, she seemed cautious of the very same trap.

Was she still on their side?

Location: Dominic's Private War Room

Time: 5:30 PM

Dominic studied the report:

Vincent hadn't taken the bait.

That meant Angie was still in the gray.

"She's not fully clean. But not fully tainted either."

He turned to his aide.

"Let's try something stronger."

The aide glanced up.

"Specter…?"

Dominic nodded, smiling.

"Send him to Vincent's current location—make it look like an accident.

If Vincent reacts, we'll know who leaked it."

Location: Dominic's Mansion

Time: 9:00 PM

Angie leaned against the wall, smoking in silence.

She knew Dominic didn't fully trust her.

But she hadn't yet been burned.

Now came another choice:

Option 1: Leak Specter's movement — but carefully.

Option 2: Stay quiet, but dig deeper into Dominic's secrets.

She made her move.

Angie walked near one of Dominic's surveillance devices and murmured:

"Specter's already moving…"

If Vincent's team was listening, they'd catch it.

The question now was simple:

Would Vincent believe her? Would he act?

"A Crossroads"

Location: Vincent's Safehouse

Time: 2:00 AM

Gabriel sat alone, staring at his phone.

A message from Vincent had come in:

"Will you stand with us?"

Since being cast out by Dominic, Vincent's offer sounded… almost reasonable.

But Gabriel hated the idea of hiding.

He could disappear, forge a new identity.

But that was the coward's route.

Then — a new message.

Emily:

"Gabriel… there's been quiet purging happening. I'm still okay, but something's wrong."

His reply was instant.

Gabriel:

"Are you in danger?"

No answer.

His grip on the phone tightened.

Location: Specter's Holding Facility

Time: 4:00 AM

Specter opened his eyes in silence.

His body still bore the scars of past battles — but the real wound was psychological.

Vincent Kang.

He had fought him twice.

The first time — Specter had won.

But not completely. Not decisively.

And that fact haunted him.

Dominic had created Specter as a living weapon.

But a failed weapon is discarded.

Would Dominic dispose of him next?

Specter wasn't just a machine.

He had pride — and a desire to prove himself in combat.

A decision loomed:

Return to Dominic.

Or carve his own path.

Location: Dominic's Office

Time: 7:00 AM

Dominic sipped coffee as sunlight bathed the skyline.

Reports littered the desk:

•Vincent's location: Unknown

•Gabriel: MIA

•Emily: Still inside

He muttered:

"Emily… still in place? That's interesting."

He picked up the phone.

Dominic:

"Track Gabriel."

Aide:

"He's vanished, sir. Is there something I don't know?"

Dominic smirked.

"Disappearing doesn't mean gone. Sometimes the lost ones return."

Location: Gabriel's Hideout

Time: 11:00 PM

Gabriel sat alone, still clutching his phone.

No word from Emily.

And in Dominic's world, silence could mean death.

Something had changed.

People were being eliminated.

And that left only one path:

Destroy Dominic.

He clenched his fist.

He would not crawl back.

Then — another message arrived.

Vincent:

"I'm still waiting for your answer."

Gabriel exhaled.

The moment had come.

And he had made his choice.

"Time to Move"

Location: Temporary Operations Room – Vincent's SafehouseTime: 8:45 AM

Several maps were spread out across the table.Angie pointed to a building in New York's financial district—one of Dominic Scott's subsidiary offices.

"This is our target."

Feynman scoffed lightly."Right, sounds easy enough… but this isn't some petty vault job. We're trying to crack into Dominic Scott's core data systems—every defense he's got is going to be pointed at us."

"And that's exactly why we're the ones doing it," Angie replied with a small smile.

Vincent's voice cut through the room, calm and low."The goal is simple: trace Dominic's major financial movements and extract the information that can finally bring him down."

"And…" Aiden added, "One more trick to shake him up."

Feynman turned his laptop toward them and pulled up a new screen.

Dominic Scott – Public Image Analysis

Wields enormous wealth and maintains deep ties with political circles.

Controls key media outlets and suppresses negative coverage.

Recently, small cracks have begun to show in that image.

Aiden smirked."Time to start the media war."

Heist Plan Summary

Uncover how Dominic's shell companies and shadow accounts operate.

Follow the paper trail linking him to political influence and corruption.

Extract data proving how deeply embedded he is in multiple systems.

2) Method: Dual Infiltration – Physical and Cyber

Feynman provides remote hacking support—bypassing security systems in real-time.

Vincent neutralizes onsite guards and escorts the team during withdrawal.

3) Distraction: Aiden's Media Blitz

Spin public opinion against Dominic to force his political allies to back away.

Flood social channels with coordinated negative coverage.

Location: Dominic Scott's Office – Signs of CounterattackTime: 10:15 AM

Dominic was speaking with the mayor of New York, flipping through the morning paper.

"Dominic Scott: The Man Behind the Markets?"

It looked like a routine economic feature, but Dominic felt a twitch of irritation. The mere fact that the media was "analyzing" him was a problem.

He tossed the paper aside in annoyance. His aide spoke up quietly.

"Sir, similar content is spreading on social media. It could be nothing… or it could be something very intentional."

Dominic fell silent. His instincts told him something had shifted. Someone was targeting him now.

"Bring Angie in."

The aide nodded and left. Can she really still be trusted?

Location: Secret Ops Room – Team Expansion DiscussionTime: 2:30 PM

"If we have to face Specter again, we won't last with just this team," Vincent said quietly, tapping the table in thought.

Gabriel.

The name lingered in his mind.

"I might have to call in one more."

Feynman looked up."You mean Gabriel?"

Vincent gave a brief nod."He'll have to choose."
