Chapter 15 - Don't Mind

"Mm, then I wish Zhou Lin would marry into the Mo family soon!"

Wen Ran maintained her smile.

Zhou Mingfu had planned to provoke her by mentioning Mo Zixuan, but he misplayed his hand—ever since Mo Zixuan betrayed her, he had become a completely meaningless stranger in her eyes.

Even if Zhou Lin ends up marrying Mo Zixuan, she won't be upset anymore.

After Zhou Mingfu left, Li Jie knocked and entered, informing Wen Ran that she had finished making her call.

"Li Jie, did you just call Assistant Qin?"

Li Jie's eyes flashed with surprise as she replied, "I was afraid Zhou Mingfu might bully you, so I informed Ah Mu—maybe he told Young Master Mo. When I saw Zhou Mingfu leave in a rage just now, what did Young Master Mo say to you on the phone?"

(Secretary Li and Qin Mu are cousins—a fact Wen Ran only learned yesterday.)

"Thank you, Li Jie!"

Wen Ran felt genuine gratitude. Li Jie had been her father's secretary for ten years; if there were anyone in the entire factory she trusted, it was undoubtedly Li Jie.

Li Jie shook her head thoughtfully and then reminded, "Zhou Mingfu definitely won't let this go. Ranran, how is your brother doing?"

She was worried that Wen Ran might not be able to handle Zhou Mingfu, and that it would be better if Wen Jin woke up to take charge.

A trace of sorrow passed through Wen Ran's eyes as she said softly, "My brother will wake up once he's had enough sleep."

Seeing her upset, Li Jie quickly changed the subject, asking with concern, "Ranran, how are you getting along with Young Master Mo?"

Wen Ran's eyes twinkled as she replied warmly, "Mo Xiuchen isn't difficult to get along with; he treats me very well."

At 10 a.m., all the employees who had taken leave returned to the company, and the regular meeting commenced as scheduled. To Wen Ran's surprise, Mo Xiuchen had even arrived.

The moment he stepped into the meeting room, silence fell as every eye turned to him.

Mo Xiuchen merely cast a brief glance at the gathering, then, with long, graceful strides, walked over to Wen Ran. Fixing her with a warm gaze, he asked, "You don't mind if I join in, do you?"

To the onlookers, his look was gentle and tender.

Wen Ran, inhaling his lingering scent, felt her heart skip a beat when her eyes met his deep gaze. Her bright smile suddenly took on a hint of bashful sweetness as she softly replied, "Of course I don't mind. Li Jie, please bring another chair over here."

Then, addressing everyone, Wen Ran announced, "Let's give a warm round of applause to Young Master Mo, who will be guiding our work."

The room erupted in applause.

Li Jie quickly brought an extra chair and placed it next to Wen Ran. Mo Xiuchen sat down beside her—together, they made a striking pair. If one were to ignore the rumors about him, they truly looked like a match made in heaven.

Thanks to Mo Xiuchen's presence, the rest of the meeting went very smoothly.

After the meeting, Mo Xiuchen accompanied Wen Ran to the workshop. Even though the outside world claimed he suffered from a hidden ailment and was "incapable," nothing diminished his dignity or authority.

At noon, Wen Ran had Li Jie reserve a table at a restaurant and invited Mo Xiuchen to dinner.

To express her gratitude, Wen Ran even volunteered to be his driver. Mo Xiuchen simply said "Alright," tossed the car keys to her, opened the door to the front passenger seat, and bent down to get in.

"Don't you want to sit in the back?"

Wen Ran looked at him in surprise—she had even been planning to open the rear door for him.

"Get in!"

Mo Xiuchen replied curtly with two words. When he saw her close the car door behind him, his eyes narrowed slightly, and any thought of fastening his seatbelt vanished as his tall frame lazily settled into the seat.
