Chapter 9 - *Chapter 9: The Unknown Entity*

Marcel's eyes strained to see through the darkness, but there was nothing. No light, no shadows, just an inky blackness that seemed to swallow everything whole.

Ava's voice was a lifeline in the darkness. "Marcel, we need to move. We don't know what that thing is or what it's capable of."

Marcel nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that they had to get out of there, but he had no idea where they were or where they were going.

As he stumbled forward, Marcel's hands outstretched in front of him, he felt a strange sensation. It was as if the air around him was thickening, becoming heavier and more oppressive.

Suddenly, Marcel's fingers brushed against something solid. It was a wall, cold and unforgiving.

Marcel's heart sank as he realized that they were trapped. The portal had brought them here, but now they were stuck.

Ava's voice was calm and reassuring. "Marcel, don't worry. We'll figure out a way to get out of here."

Marcel nodded, his eyes straining to see through the darkness. He knew that Ava was right. They would figure out a way to escape.

But as he stood there, his back against the wall, Marcel felt a presence behind him. It was a cold, calculating presence that seemed to be watching him.

Marcel's heart skipped a beat as he realized that they were not alone. Whatever had come through the portal with them was still here, watching and waiting.

Ava's voice was barely above a whisper. "Marcel, I think I see something."

Marcel's eyes strained to see through the darkness, but there was nothing. No light, no shadows, just an inky blackness that seemed to swallow everything whole.

And then, suddenly, Marcel saw it too. A faint, flickering light that seemed to be coming from the other side of the room.

Marcel's heart pounded in his chest as he realized that the light was moving. It was coming closer and closer, until Marcel could see that it was a figure.

A figure that was unlike anything Marcel had ever seen before.

The figure was tall and imposing, with long, spindly limbs that seemed to be made of some kind of dark, shadowy material.

Marcel's eyes were fixed on the figure, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that they were in grave danger.

Ava's voice was barely above a whisper. "Marcel, what is that thing?"

Marcel shook his head, his eyes fixed on the figure. "I don't know," he replied, his voice shaking with fear.

The figure began to move closer, its limbs reaching out like dark, ghostly fingers.

Marcel knew that they had to get out of there, fast. But as he turned to run, he realized that they were trapped.

The walls were closing in around them, the darkness seeming to swallow everything whole.

Marcel's heart sank as he realized that they were doomed. The unknown entity had them right where it wanted them.

And then, just as all hope seemed lost, Marcel heard a faint humming noise. It was a low, steady drone that seemed to be coming from the device in his pocket.

Marcel's eyes lit up with hope as he realized that the device might be their only chance of escape.

He pulled out the device, his fingers flying across the screen as he desperately tried to activate it.

The humming noise grew louder, the device beginning to glow with a faint, blue light.

Marcel's heart pounded in his chest as he realized that the device was working. It was creating a portal, a doorway back to their own world.

Ava's voice was full of hope. "Marcel, it's working! We can get out of here!"

Marcel nodded, his eyes fixed on the portal. "Come on," he said, grabbing Ava's hand. "Let's go!"

Together, they stepped through the portal, leaving the unknown entity and the dark, shadowy world behind.

As they emerged on the other side, Marcel felt a sense of relief wash over him. They had made it. They had escaped.

But as he looked around, Marcel realized that something was wrong. The world around them was different, the skies a deep, burning crimson.

Ava's voice was full of fear
