Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Captain, I Don't Want to be Human Anymore

In the end, Su Xiuyu's disguise was still seen through by Kana. Even though she crossed her arms over her chest and put on a disgusted expression, she still followed Su Xiuyu and showed no intention of leaving.

"I'm like this, and you still dare to follow me? Are you really not afraid of me?" Su Xiuyu felt helpless against Kana. He had gone as far as acting like a pervert, yet she still wouldn't leave.

"Uncle, I know you're pretending. There's no lust in your eyes or expressions. Your acting is terrible!" Kana remarked, unimpressed, while scanning their surroundings.

Su Xiuyu sighed, but before he could say anything, Kana smirked. "Uncle, why did you bring me near a hotel? You're not planning to do something to someone, are you?" she teased.

"I'm just looking for a place to rest for the night. You should go home instead of following me," Su Xiuyu replied, rolling his eyes.

"No way, Uncle. It's still early."

Ignoring her, Su Xiuyu quickened his pace and walked into a nearby phone shop. He swiftly purchased a phone card and used the public network to contact his team members.

"Where is everyone right now?"

"Captain, I'm in the Amazon rainforest. No idea when I can get out. It's like I've been thrown into a survival show in a tropical jungle. The mosquitoes and bedbugs are driving me insane. Someone save me!" Zhang Cheng complained loudly on the public channel, sounding like a broken record.

"Captain, this is Lei Gang. I'm in Shibuya, Tokyo. Yeah, I've been here in our own world before, so it feels kinda familiar."

"Damn, I'm so jealous! Why am I stuck in some remote place?"

"Lei Gang, come find me. I'm also in Tokyo, near Akihabara. I'll send you the address."

"Got it, Captain. I'll be there soon."

"Lucky bastard… You get to stay in the same city as the Captain."

"Captain, I'm in Nagasaki. It'll take at least until tomorrow for me to reach you," Li Yunrui reported.

One by one, the team members checked in. Unfortunately, most were too far away to regroup immediately. Some were stranded in deserts, while one unlucky member had even broken his leg and was stuck in a hospital in the United States.

Su Xiuyu exhaled and addressed the group. "Listen up. I've gained some basic knowledge of this world, so I have some important instructions. Don't question why I'm telling you to do this or that—just follow my orders strictly."

"First, for the next few days, adjust your sleep schedule. Sleep during the day and stay awake at night. Maintain this rhythm."

"Second, prepare strong ropes or explosion-proof shields. If I remember correctly, only Lei Gang has a shield, but if the rest of you can get one, do it."

"Third, be prepared for attacks from strange creatures at night. Do not underestimate the danger. Trust me—I have the ability to predict the future."

The team fell silent for a moment before someone snorted. "Are you serious, Captain? You can predict the future now?"

"Take it as a joke if you want. But if you end up dead, don't say I didn't warn you."

"Finally, if you're attacked, don't panic. Protect your head first. If you have to sacrifice a limb, do it—better to lose an arm than your life. Tie off any wounds with rope if necessary. My foresight isn't detailed enough to predict exactly how you'll be attacked, so just be ready for anything."

"That's all. Whether you follow these orders or not is up to you. Lei Gang, get here quickly."

With that, Su Xiuyu logged off the public channel.

Lei Gang arrived soon after, but when he saw Su Xiuyu's transformed appearance, he didn't recognize him at first. It wasn't until Su Xiuyu called out to him that he realized it was his captain.

However, Lei Gang's attention quickly shifted to the high school girl in a maid outfit standing beside Su Xiuyu. His mind immediately jumped to conclusions. Captain is incredible… He just arrived in this world, and he's already picked up a girl?!

Seeing the look on Lei Gang's face, Su Xiuyu knew there was a serious misunderstanding. But he wasn't about to waste time explaining.

"Captain, what's the plan?" Lei Gang asked.

"For now, we find a place to rest," Su Xiuyu replied without hesitation.

Kana, who had been silent for a moment, suddenly chimed in. "Hey, Uncle, why does he call you 'Captain'? And why is someone as big as him afraid of you? You're not a spy, are you?"

"Spy? Kana, go home. It's getting late," Su Xiuyu said, trying to shake her off again.

Kana smirked. "Not a chance. Wherever you go, I go."

Resigned, Su Xiuyu ignored her and took Lei Gang to a nearby hotel with decent conditions. They checked in, and Kana booked the room right next to Su Xiuyu's.

"Uncle, if you can't sleep at night, you can come to my room. We can chat. Can't you see how much I care about you?" Kana teased.

"And don't get the wrong idea about me, Uncle. I may seem open-minded, but I'm actually still pure. So don't think I'm some kind of seductress."

Standing beside them, Lei Gang was envious. Where the hell do you find a girl like this? Flirty yet innocent? Damn… Even if I'm not interested in dating right now, I still feel jealous.

Without responding, Su Xiuyu shut his door with a loud snap. Lei Gang followed suit, heading into his own room.

"Hmph, stingy Uncle," Kana pouted before going to her room.

As the night deepened, the city gradually fell into silence. The only ones still awake were those engaged in nightlife activities.

Suddenly, a massive number of spores appeared in the night sky, drifting silently like an eerie mist. These spores materialized out of nowhere and spread across various locations. The moment they landed, they slipped through door cracks and windowsills, invading homes unseen.

Most people, deep in sleep, were unaware of the horror unfolding around them. A single spore burrowed into a sleeping man's head. His face twisted in agony for just a moment before relaxing into an unnatural stillness. The same gruesome scene played out all over the city—and beyond.

Inside the hotel, Lei Gang, having stayed awake as per Su Xiuyu's orders, immediately noticed the disturbance. "What the hell are these things? Are these the spore parasites Captain warned us about? Disgusting!"

Because of Su Xiuyu's foresight, none of the team members were caught off guard. Even Zhang Cheng, suffering in the Amazon rainforest, remained untouched.

A loud knock came at Su Xiuyu's door. He opened it and let Lei Gang in. Inside, another Su Xiuyu was lying in bed.

Lei Gang blinked in confusion. "Uh… what?"

"No need to stare. That's just a shadow clone," Su Xiuyu explained. "I'll wake him up now."

The clone dispersed, and the real Su Xiuyu sat up, holding two writhing parasitic spores in his hands. They screeched and struggled, but Su Xiuyu's grip was unyielding.

"Lei Gang, and Kana—who's eavesdropping outside—come in."

Kana sheepishly stepped inside.

Su Xiuyu held up the parasites. "These are spore creatures. They invade a host's brain and take over their body. Lei Gang, this is exactly what I warned you about. You should have sensed the disturbance outside by now."

---

"Lei Gang, do you want to try?" Su Xiuyu asked, bringing a spore closer to him without waiting for an answer. As soon as the spore neared, a sharp slash appeared on Lei Gang's arm, and blood began to flow, further arousing the spore's aggression.

Lei Gang hadn't expected the seemingly weak spore in Su Xiuyu's hand to have such terrifying power. To test it further, he grabbed a chair from the hotel and brought it close—only to watch it get sliced clean in half. He shuddered. If the captain hadn't warned him earlier, encountering this thing in his sleep would've meant certain death.

Kana watched the entire scene with fascination. Among the girls, she was indeed the most skilled and fearless.

"Captain, are you planning to keep these parasites for soup?" Lei Gang joked, trying to lighten the mood.

"They're all for you. Haven't you always wanted to become stronger? This is the best opportunity," Su Xiuyu said, already deciding to use the parasite to strengthen Lei Gang. No matter how much he trained, without something extraordinary, Lei Gang would struggle to surpass his current limits.

"Captain, you must be joking. Didn't you say these things invade the brain? What's the point of becoming stronger if I lose my mind? I won't even be myself anymore," Lei Gang protested, shaking his head. He was willing to do anything for power—but not at the cost of his identity.

"If I say it's for you, then trust me. I have a foolproof plan," Su Xiuyu reassured him, patting his shoulder.

Then, turning to one of the parasites, Su Xiuyu spoke coldly. "You have two options: accept my conditions or die. What's your choice?"

The parasite, already weak and on the verge of death, seemed to understand the situation. Its tentacles twitched as if it had made up its mind.

"Captain, this thing actually understands you?" Lei Gang was stunned. He hadn't expected such a small parasite spore to have intelligence.

"Yes, it's intelligent—though only at a basic level."

"Stretch out your right hand—or your left, it's up to you." Su Xiuyu's tone was casual, yet firm. Before Lei Gang could hesitate, Su Xiuyu pressed the parasite onto his palm.

The moment it made contact, the parasite burrowed into his flesh.

"Ahh! Captain, am I still human?" Lei Gang screamed in horror.

Kana watched silently, taking in the entire process.

"Seal!" Su Xiuyu performed a basic sealing technique, locking the parasite's influence to Lei Gang's arm. This was the real safeguard—the absolute guarantee.

Lei Gang's arm twisted and morphed in grotesque ways, his veins bulging unnaturally. Sweat poured down his face as the pain pulsed through him. Over time, the transformation stabilized, his arm finally settling into its new state.

"The fusion is complete. Go take a shower and rest. Come see me when you wake up," Su Xiuyu instructed.

Lei Gang collapsed onto the floor, breathing heavily. "Got it."

Kana, however, remained standing.

"Kana, why are you still here? Go back to your room," Su Xiuyu urged.

She hesitated before speaking. "Uncle… Can I use this parasite too?" Her voice was cautious, but her eyes held determination.

Watching Lei Gang undergo the process had only strengthened Kana's resolve. She had glimpsed an extraordinary world—one filled with power beyond ordinary human limits. Though the parasite was terrifying, if Lei Gang could do it, why couldn't she?

She understood something else, too. If she stayed ordinary, she wouldn't be able to follow Xiuyu for long. But if she stepped into his world—if she took this leap—maybe, just maybe, she wouldn't be left behind.

"Uncle, I know I'm being presumptuous, but… can you let me try it too?"

Su Xiuyu looked at her deeply before sighing. The parasites meant nothing to him. With his immortal body and Otsutsuki bloodline, they were nothing but a burden.

"You've thought this through? There's no turning back," he warned.

"I have," Kana replied without hesitation.

Just as he had done with Lei Gang, Su Xiuyu introduced a parasite to Kana. This time, the spore cooperated immediately, merging into her body with surprising ease.

With a wave of his hand, Su Xiuyu summoned a shadow clone. "Take them to their rooms."

The clone obeyed, dragging the two away and tossing them onto their beds.

---

At noon the next day, a scream echoed from Kana's room.

Lei Gang, though silent, rushed straight to Su Xiuyu's room. Kana soon followed, a towel wrapped around her hand.

Both hesitantly revealed their transformed arms. Lei Gang's right hand now had eyes and a mouth. Kana's was eerily silent, its new eye simply observing its surroundings.

"Captain… am I still human?" Lei Gang asked, but before Su Xiuyu could answer—his right hand spoke first.

"Well, I only fused with one of your hands. The rest of you is still human," it said nonchalantly.

Lei Gang was dumbfounded. "What the hell?! You can talk?!"

"Didn't you praise my intelligence last night?" the hand sneered, even making a mocking expression.

Lei Gang was completely stunned.

Kana's parasite, in contrast, remained quiet—its eye only darting around, seemingly focused on Su Xiuyu.

"Lei Gang, you need to accept your right hand. It has its own personality and intelligence. Learn to cooperate with it—it can read books, browse the internet, and even study. And, of course, it has immense combat power. The same goes for you, Kana. Your parasite seems to have a calm personality, which should make it easier to work with," Su Xiuyu explained.

"As for combat abilities, they can transform into various sharp weapons—fast, durable, and extremely destructive. From today onward, Lei Gang, you've officially stepped into the realm of the extraordinary. Train hard and learn to use it properly."

With that, Su Xiuyu dismissed them, leaving them to explore their new abilities.

---

Back in his room, Lei Gang sat down and examined his parasite. The biggest advantage of having a mouth, he realized, was how easy it was to communicate.

After some testing, he confirmed what Su Xiuyu had said—his parasite's combat ability was indeed terrifying. However, his excitement came at a price—he accidentally destroyed multiple pieces of hotel furniture, costing him a fortune. Still, the sheer thrill of stepping into the extraordinary overshadowed everything else.

"Alright… what should I call you? 'Parasite' seems too impersonal," Lei Gang mused.

"It doesn't matter to me," the parasite replied indifferently.

"Fine. What are you interested in?"

"Knowledge. All kinds of knowledge. But most of all, your captain, Su Xiuyu."

Lei Gang frowned. "Why? Do you want to fight him?"

"Please don't drag me into your death wish. If it weren't for your captain, do you think I would've willingly parasitized your arm? If not for him, I would've eaten your brain by now."

Lei Gang shivered. "So… what's so special about him?"

"Put simply? He's not human," the parasite stated.

"That's ridiculous," Lei Gang scoffed. "He's strong, sure, but there has to be a limit—"

"From what I've observed, based on the definition of 'human' from your world, your captain doesn't fit," the parasite interrupted. "He's like a newborn god—not omnipotent yet, but filled with infinite possibilities. His blood, his aura… even though he's suppressing it, I can feel it.

Your captain is terrifyingly strong."

Lei Gang fell silent, his mind racing.

Just… what kind of existence had he sworn loyalty to?
