Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: Destiny

The engine sound of the black car echoed in the silent night sky, like a heavy heartbeat. Kalle and Darlene stood side by side, their eyes following the movement of the car, their hearts filled with alertness and unease. The car window slowly rolled down, revealing a familiar face—it was Anna, the woman who had once had a complicated connection with Kalle. There was no trace of warmth in her eyes, only profound indifference and hidden danger.

"Kalle, Darlene." Anna's voice was low and cold, like a sharp blade cutting through the air. "I didn't expect us to meet here."

Kalle's heart rate instantly accelerated, and his heart was filled with intense turmoil. He wasn't surprised by Anna's appearance, but this inexplicable sense of nervousness made him frown involuntarily. "Why are you here? Didn't you... already leave?"

Anna sneered, and a trace of complex emotion flashed in her eyes. "Leave? Do you think that if I leave, I can get rid of everything? Kalle, the truth never disappears just because you close your eyes."

Darlene sized up Anna coldly, her eyes full of distrust. "Who exactly are you? Why did you suddenly appear in front of us?"

Anna's gaze turned to Darlene, and her eyes were as cold as ice and snow in the cold winter. "You don't understand. What you've done has already been doomed. You think you can change your destiny, but in fact, you're just a pawn on the chessboard, and everything has already been arranged for you."

These words made Kalle's heart skip a beat. He knew how smart Anna was, and she wouldn't say these words casually. The "destiny" and "chessboard" she mentioned seemed to imply a deeper conspiracy, and the truth he had been ignoring was getting closer step by step.

"What do you want to say?" Kalle's voice became even more solemn.

Anna didn't answer immediately. Instead, she took out a piece of paper from the car and handed it to Kalle. "This document might be able to solve the doubts in your hearts. The truth you've been searching for has already been found without you even realizing it."

Kalle took the piece of paper and immediately felt an indescribable heaviness. There were no markings on the document, just a simple string of words: "The truth you're looking for is already destined."

"What does this mean?" Kalle asked in a low voice.

Anna narrowed her eyes and showed a cold smile. "It means that you've been missing the real target all along. Everything you've been pursuing might not be supposed to exist at all. Your enemy is not the people you imagine, but yourselves."

Darlene was shocked, and a trace of doubt flashed in her eyes. "Our own enemy? What are you talking about?"

"Yes." Anna's tone became even colder. "Your enemy is your past, the destiny you've been unable to escape. No matter how much you struggle, the secrets hidden deep in your bloodline will approach you step by step and eventually devour you."

Kalle's mood became heavier and heavier, and he couldn't understand Anna's attitude at this moment. From her words, he felt an indescribable sense of oppression, as if his whole body was trapped by an invisible shackle.

"What exactly do you want to do?" Kalle's voice was low and forceful, and a trace of anger and doubt flashed in his eyes.

Anna didn't answer immediately. Instead, she let out a soft sigh. "There are too many things you don't understand. Your destiny is already determined, and no matter how hard you try, you can't escape. You've always thought you were in control of the truth, but in reality, you're just making an empty struggle under the manipulation of others."

These words made Kalle tremble all over. He thought of all the experiences over the years, those unsolved mysteries, and those indescribable pains and confusions. He had been trying hard to find the answers, but it seemed that every time he got close to the truth, he was blocked by an invisible force.

"What exactly are you hiding?" Kalle asked angrily, his eyes filled with uncontrollable anger.

Anna's eyes suddenly became a bit softer, as if she finally showed a trace of vulnerability when facing Kalle. "I'm not trying to hide anything. I just want to tell you that many things are far more complicated than you think."

Just then, there were suddenly rapid footsteps coming from inside the car. Then, the car door was suddenly pushed open. A tall figure stepped out—it was Lucas. His face was stern, and a noticeable aura flickered in his eyes.

"Anna, Kalle, Darlene." Lucas's voice was low and imposing. "You've had a good talk, but it's time to end it."

Kalle's heart sank suddenly. He didn't expect Lucas to suddenly appear here. It seemed that all the mysteries were converging at this moment. And everything in front of him was developing in an unpredictable direction.

"Lucas, what exactly do you want?" Kalle's voice was full of challenge. "You've been manipulating everything behind the scenes. What kind of truth are you hiding?"

Lucas was silent for a moment, and a trace of complex emotion flashed in his eyes. "The truth? Kalle, the truth is never that simple. You think you can solve everything, but in fact, you've just been chasing a false target."

These words were like a heavy hammer, hitting Kalle's heart hard. His mind went blank, and his thoughts seemed to be pulled away, leaving only those words echoing continuously: "You've just been chasing a false target."

"What exactly are you talking about?" Darlene asked excitedly, with unease and anger flickering in her eyes.

Lucas finally spoke, and a trace of imperceptible pain showed in his eyes. "You've always thought that you were confronting me. In fact, you're the same as me, all part of that 'target'. No matter how much you struggle, you'll eventually end up in the same situation."

Kalle couldn't stay calm anymore. He clenched his fists, and the anger in his eyes was almost about to burst out. "What exactly are you talking about? Can we ever know the real truth!"

"The truth?" Lucas sneered. "Your truth has already been hidden in the abyss, and you're destined to be unable to escape."
