Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 Roar Under the Blood-Colored Moonlight

The night sky hung low, and the pale moonlight spilled over the Wolf Soul Mountains like a cold blade. The entire mountain range was shrouded in a thin layer of blood-colored mist, looking strange and gloomy. Kaleb stood on the top of the cliff, his gaze piercing through the valley as he stared at the churning darkness in the distance.

His heart beat steadily, yet he could feel the wild restlessness in his chest gradually intensifying. Since passing the altar trial, his perception had become even more acute. Not a single movement of the air or the slightest sound could escape his ears.

But tonight, this keen perception did not bring peace; instead, it brought a deep sense of unease.

"They're coming." Azure Claw's voice was low and vigilant.

Kaleb nodded slowly, a cold glint flickering in his eyes. He placed his palm on the handle of the knife and exerted a little force. The blade let out a faint hum, as if responding to the impending killing.

In the forest in the distance, pairs of red eyes emerged, like phantoms lurking in the night. A shrill wolf howl pierced the sky, and the figures lurking in the darkness began to approach slowly, with heavy steps, exuding an oppressive sense of death.

"The pack of Ghost Wolves..." Kaleb squinted his eyes, and his breath caught for a moment.

Ghost Wolves were one of the most dangerous creatures in the Wolf Soul Mountains. They were born in death and darkness, bloodthirsty and ruthless, and skilled in group hunting. Even more fatally, these wolves no longer belonged to the living. They were the lingering shadows of the Wolf Soul, and they would only appear under the blood-colored moonlight, taking pleasure in hunting all living things.

Azure Claw took a step forward and stood beside Kaleb, growling a warning. The wolf pack followed closely behind, forming a semi-circle to protect Kaleb's back, passing on a silent fighting spirit among themselves.

"There are too many of these creatures." Azure Claw licked its fangs. "Even for us, it will be difficult to get out unscathed."

Kaleb gave a cold laugh: "Then we'll fight until the last moment."

The wolf howls sounded again. Finally, the Ghost Wolves couldn't hold back and pounced suddenly!

The black shadows surged forward like a tide, swallowing up the entire valley in an instant. Kaleb drew his knife with a backhand motion. The light of the knife was like the moon, tearing through the night sky. One Ghost Wolf was split in half and turned into black mist, dissipating. But more Ghost Wolves quickly filled the gap, frantically pouncing and biting towards Kaleb.

Azure Claw led the wolf pack to face the enemy. Its sharp fangs tore through flesh and blood, and the battle erupted instantly. The wolf pack and the Ghost Wolves fought each other. Blood and black mist intertwined under the moonlight, forming a bloody yet heroic scene.

Kaleb did not retreat. He shuttled through the battlefield like lightning. Every slash of his knife was precise, and each swing took the lives of several Ghost Wolves. His movements were swift

and fierce, as if he were a true Wolf King, carving a path through the enemy ranks.

However, there were too many Ghost Wolves, seemingly endless. Even the wolf pack began to gradually run out of strength, and gasps filled the air.

Suddenly, a huge Ghost Wolf emerged from the darkness. Its size was three times that of the other Ghost Wolves. It was covered in a thick layer of black mist, with eyes as scarlet as blood. It stared at Kaleb, baring its ferocious fangs.

"This is... the King of the Wolf Souls." Azure Claw exclaimed.

Kaleb gripped his long knife tightly, and cold sweat trickled down his forehead. The King of the Wolf Souls was the leader of the pack of Ghost Wolves. Their existence represented destruction and despair, and each one possessed the power to destroy a town.

The King of the Wolf Souls let out a roar, and a powerful shockwave swept over, forcing Kaleb to take several steps back, and the wolf pack was also scattered by the impact.

"Kaleb, be careful!" Azure Claw stood in front of him, already covered in wounds.

Kaleb didn't say anything. He just slowly raised his knife, his eyes burning with a determined fighting spirit.

"Since you're here, don't even think about leaving alive." He said in a low voice, his voice like a cold blade.

The King of the Wolf Souls suddenly leaped up and pounced towards Kaleb, turning into a black shadow. In an instant, the air seemed to freeze, and time seemed to stretch out at this moment.

Kaleb did not hesitate and rushed forward to meet it. The long knife collided with the fangs of the King of the Wolf Souls, and sparks flew. The intense impact made him stagger backward, but he did not give up. Instead, he took advantage of the momentum to spin around and slashed at the King of the Wolf Souls again.

The light of the knife flashed past, and a deep wound was torn in the body of the King of the Wolf Souls. Black mist kept gushing out, and it howled in pain. But its anger became even more violent. The light of bloodlust burned in its eyes, and it pounced towards Kaleb again.

This was a life-and-death battle, and the outcome was uncertain.

Kaleb's strength gradually drained away, but he still did not stop. His blood boiled, and his heart beat like a deafening war drum.

Finally, after continuous fighting, Kaleb found a flaw. He suddenly leaped up, and the long knife in his hand sliced through the air, piercing through the head of the King of the Wolf Souls with one strike.

The black mist exploded. The King of the Wolf Souls let out a shrill howl, and its huge body crashed to the ground, turning into countless fragments scattered on the ground.

When the Ghost Wolves saw the fall of the King of the Wolf Souls, they howled and fled into the darkness, quickly disappearing without a trace.

The battlefield returned to silence, leaving only the battered wolf pack and Kaleb.

Kaleb panted heavily, and his hand holding the knife trembled slightly. Azure Claw slowly walked up to him and said in a low voice: "You did it."

There was full of admiration and relief in its eyes as it looked at Kaleb.

Kaleb looked at the place where the King of the Wolf Souls had dissipated. There was no joy in his eyes; instead, a trace of worry flickered in them.

"This is just the beginning..." He said in a low voice.

Under the blood-colored moonlight, Kaleb stood on the top of the cliff in the Wolf Soul Mountains, alone, as if he were an enemy of the entire world.
