The night was deep, and the blood moon hung in the sky like an indifferent eye, looking down on the turmoil in the mountains. The Wolf Soul Mountains were as silent as death under the moonlight, with only the wind whispering among the ancient trees, telling of the secrets lurking within.
Kale stood on the edge of the cliff, his eyes slightly closed, feeling the restlessness in his heart gradually subside. However, he knew clearly that this peace was only temporary.
The appearance of the Shadow Messenger was like a shadow, quietly casting over his heart.
"Kale, what should we do now?" Cangzhao walked up to his side and asked in a low voice.
Kale opened his eyes and looked sharply towards the depths of the mountains: "Keep moving forward."
Cangzhao let out a low growl: "That Shadow Messenger won't give up easily. The strange sight of the blood moon indicates that the power in the mountains is awakening. We must act with caution."
"The more this is the case, the less I can stop." Kale gripped his long knife tightly, his eyes shining with determination. "The Wolf Soul Mountains hide the answers to my origin, and there are real enemies lurking in the darkness. I can't turn back."
Cangzhao nodded silently, and the wolf pack seemed to sense their master's will. They all stood up, their eyes shining brightly.
However, as soon as Kale took a step forward, there was a sudden commotion in the forest behind him.
"Who's there?" Kale spun around sharply, and the light of his knife flashed instantly.
In the darkness, a thin figure slowly emerged, wearing a tattered gray cloak and with a crafty smile on his face.
"Don't be nervous. It's me." The person raised his hands to show that he meant no harm.
"Yize?" Kale frowned when he recognized the person.
Yize was a wanderer from a small town outside the Wolf Soul Mountains. He had extraordinary skills and had been active around the Wolf Soul Mountains all year round, excelling in gathering information. He had crossed paths with Kale several times. They were neither friends nor enemies.
"It's so late. What are you doing here?" Kale sheathed his long knife and stepped forward to ask.
Yize shrugged and chuckled: "I heard that the blood moon has reappeared, so I knew you would definitely come to the depths of the Wolf Soul Mountains."
Kale's eyes turned cold: "What do you want with me?"
The smile on Yize's face gradually faded, and his gaze became serious: "I want to remind you of something... The Shadow Messenger isn't the only one tracking you."
Kale's eyes darkened slightly: "What do you mean?"
Yize took a few steps closer and lowered his voice: "Deep within the Wolf Soul Mountains, there is an even more ancient power awakening. And the Shadow Messenger is just a guide to the darkness. The real threat comes from the 'Abyss'."
"The Abyss?" Cangzhao frowned. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Yize shook his head: "Can't you feel it? On the night of the blood moon, the breath of darkness doesn't just come from the moonlight but also from this land."
Kale thought for a moment and then nodded: "I did feel a certain unusual sense of oppression."
"Exactly, that's the power of the Abyss." Yize's eyes flickered as he continued, "Although the Shadow Messenger is terrifying, he is just one of the avatars of the will of the Abyss. And the real core is in the 'Fissure' at the deepest part of the Wolf Soul Mountains."
Kale was shocked: "The Fissure... You mean the Tomb of the Wolf Soul?"
Yize nodded: "Yes, the place where the Wolf Soul King is said to have fallen. Both the Shadow Messenger and the followers of the Abyss are searching for a way to open the fissure, and you, perhaps, are the key."
Kale was silent for a moment, then looked up and stared straight at Yize: "So, you're here to persuade me to leave?"
"Quite the opposite." Yize smiled mysteriously. "I'm here to help you enter the fissure."
As soon as these words were spoken, Cangzhao immediately stood in front of Kale warily: "Do you want to use Kale?"
Yize shrugged: "Calm down. I don't have the guts for that. I know that the Shadow Messenger has already found you, which means that there is indeed some Wolf Soul power hidden within you. If you don't take the initiative, you'll be surrounded sooner or later, and then you won't even have a chance to escape."
Kale thought for a moment and finally nodded slowly: "Fine. Since you know how to enter the fissure, lead the way."
The corners of Yize's mouth twitched up: "Follow me."
The wolf pack moved forward in the night, following the path guided by Yize deeper into the Wolf Soul Mountains. The surrounding air gradually grew colder, and the trees around seemed to have lost their vitality. The branches and leaves were withered, exuding a faint smell of decay.
Kale walked at the front, holding his long knife tightly with both hands and scanning his surroundings warily. He could feel that a hidden power was flowing deep within the mountains, as if something was quietly awakening.
Finally, a dilapidated stone gate appeared in front of them. The stone gate was engraved with ancient wolf clan totems, faintly emitting a glimmer of light.
"Is this the entrance to the fissure?" Kale stepped forward and gently stroked the patterns on the
stone gate, feeling a familiar and ancient aura.
Yize nodded: "Yes, this leads to the Tomb of the Wolf Soul. Once you enter, there's no turning back. Are you sure you want to continue?"
Kale nodded slowly: "I must find the answers."
As soon as the words were spoken, he pushed the stone gate hard. The stone gate slowly opened, and darkness surged out from behind the door like a tide, as if it was going to swallow everyone up.
"Let's go in." Yize motioned and stepped into the darkness first.
Kale and Cangzhao followed closely behind, and the wolf pack filed in one by one. The stone gate slowly closed behind them, cutting off the blood-colored moonlight.
In the darkness, Kale seemed to hear whispers coming from a distance. The voice was ancient and distant, as if it was calling out to his soul.
He knew that the real test had just begun.
