Chapter 12 - slaughter (chapter 12)

Chapter 12

The entrance to the Belmont trove erupted in a thunderous explosion, sending debris and dust flying in all directions. A massive minotaur-like night creature with bright blue glowing horns and a luminescent head was hurled backward, its massive form crashing into the stone ground with a deafening thud. The cloud of dust thickened, obscuring the shapes of the approaching night creatures, each one unique and twisted in its own monstrous form. Some had elongated limbs and sharp, serrated claws, others bore wings of bone and tattered flesh, and a few slithered like massive serpents with multiple glowing eyes. Their demonic presence was punctuated by the common ability to breathe fire, while others exhibited unique magical traits—one seemed to exude a freezing mist, while another's body crackled with dark, lightning-like energy.

As the dust cloud swirled, Trevor Belmont's Morning Star chain whip lashed out, striking the first creature—a bipedal, crow-like beast with feathers made of obsidian and glowing red eyes. The instant the Morning Star made contact, it flared with brilliant orange light, and the creature let out a screech before bloating grotesquely and exploding into chunks of blood and gore. Trevor spun his weapon with deadly precision, the chain whip sweeping in wide arcs as he advanced, each strike setting off devastating explosions that tore through the ranks of night creatures. He dodged with practiced ease, rolling under swipes of jagged claws and leaping over bursts of fire, his movements a perfect balance of aggression and control.

Alucard moved with otherworldly grace, his long silver sword flashing in the dim light. He spun and twisted through the battlefield, his strikes quick and surgical, each slice cutting through the night creatures with ease. A bat-like creature dove at him, its wings leaving trails of shadowy mist, but Alucard parried its talons mid-air and countered with a lightning-fast thrust that impaled it through the heart. Another creature—a massive hound with molten cracks running through its skin—charged him, jaws snapping with fiery breath. Alucard vanished into a swarm of bats, reappearing behind the beast and delivering a swift decapitation, its head rolling away in a burst of flames.

Sypha conjured elemental magic with fluid motions, her hands weaving fire, ice, and lightning into devastating spells. She launched a spear of ice that impaled three creatures in a line, freezing them solid before shattering them with a burst of fire. A hulking, armored night creature lunged at her, only for her to raise a wall of stone from the ground, smashing it back with brutal force. Lightning crackled around her fingertips as she unleashed a storm of bolts, each one striking true and reducing her enemies to smoldering husks. Her eyes burned with focus as she kept the onslaught at bay, her spells precise and relentless.

Levi walked among them, his face calm despite the chaos. He refrained from casting magic, his steps measured as he observed the battle. But when a lithe, shadowy creature slipped past the trio and lunged at him, he was forced to act. "Oh magic, conjure up a lance made of holy energy," he commanded, his voice steady. Magic complied instantly, forming a glowing, radiant spear in his hand, but the effort sent a wave of agony through his already throbbing core. The pain was excruciating, yet his face remained impassive. With a swift motion, he hurled the lance, the weapon piercing the creature's chest and exploding in a burst of light, reducing it to ash. He staggered slightly but kept moving, occasionally casting small but powerful spells—each one effective and precise, each one sending fresh pain through his body. Despite the torment, Levi continued.

The battlefield turned into a chaotic dance of fire, steel, and magic as the four of them fought in perfect, if desperate, synchronization. Trevor's morning star whirled through the air, crackling with power before slamming into the side of a towering, four-armed night creature with thick, stone-like skin. The weapon's impact sent a shockwave through the creature, and it bloated grotesquely before exploding into a spray of gore.

Alucard moved like a phantom, his long silver sword flashing in wide, graceful arcs. He ducked beneath the swing of a hulking, boar-faced monster and sliced cleanly through its knee, sending it crashing to the ground. Without missing a beat, he whirled around and impaled another creature, a serpentine thing with glowing red eyes and clawed hands, before vanishing into mist to avoid a blast of fire.

Sypha stood her ground at the center of the chaos, her hands weaving in the air. A wall of ice erupted in front of her just as a pack of lupine night creatures leaped forward, their flames snuffed out as they crashed into the frozen barrier. With a sharp gesture, the ice exploded outward in deadly shards, impaling the beasts and sending the survivors skittering back.

Levi walked among them, his steps steady but his face pale, his body trembling from the pain radiating from his cracked core. A night creature slipped through the others' defenses — a sleek, panther-like thing with elongated limbs and glowing blue veins — and pounced at him. "Oh magic, conjure up a lance made of holy energy," Levi intoned, his voice tight with strain. The weapon, which was now his new favourtie spell, appeared in his hands in a flash of radiant light, and with a single thrust, he impaled the creature mid-leap. It shrieked and disintegrated into ash, but Levi staggered, clutching his chest as another wave of pain tore through him.

"Levi!" Sypha called, her eyes flicking toward him with concern, but there was no time to check on him. A massive, winged creature swooped down, spewing black flames. Trevor lashed out with the morning star, the chain wrapping around its leg before he yanked it to the ground. Alucard was on it in an instant, his sword flashing down to sever its head.

The night creatures kept coming — a massive, bear-like beast with molten cracks in its hide barreled forward, only to be intercepted by a lightning bolt from Sypha's outstretched hand. Levi forced himself upright, his vision swimming, and summoned another holy lance. He hurled it at a bat-winged creature circling above, striking it through the chest and sending it crashing to the earth in a burst of light.

They fought as one — Trevor's explosive strikes, Alucard's swift and precise swordplay, Sypha's devastating magic, and Levi's radiant but costly attacks. Despite the pain wracking his body, Levi didn't falter, until eventually, there was no more, "ok, now lets track down draculas caslte" sypha said as they back down.

Sypha and Alucard were able to track the castle and bring it back to where they were, except Sypha made the blunder of landing the castle right on top of them, in an underground area where only dirt and wood held up the place. So, they decided to come out of the trove, only to realize that the moon was blood red. As they were going up, Sypha, Alucard, and Trevor were in a somber mood. They were nervous, except for Levi, who seemed nonchalant. "You do realize what we're about to face, right?" Alucard asked in a serious tone as Levi shrugged. "The most powerful and knowledgeable vampire in the world, so?" he asked as Trevor replied, "With your condition—" He paused as Levi sighed.
