Chapter 11
"No, I meditate quite frequently, which is basically a short nap," Levi said, making Alucard ask curiously, "Why do you meditate so often? I noticed that you meditate every hour in that speed of yours." Levi replied, "Casting magic takes a toll on my mind. I need a break." Alucard then asked, "So one hour is your limit?" making Levi reply nonchalantly, "For now. I am getting better. A couple of days ago, I couldn't even last 30 minutes," he said with a smile. Alucard commented, "That is a frightening level of improvement." Levi simply replied, "Well, I am a special case," as he went back to reading, and so did Alucard.
Levi suddenly stopped on a particular book before he smiled as he arrived in front of Sypha and Alucard, who were arguing about how Sypha enjoyed her time with Trevor way too much and how it was distracting her from the goal. She retorted by asking him to stop provoking Trevor just to prove that he wasn't wrong for choosing them. The sudden appearance of Levi startled Sypha, who fell back only to be caught by Trevor as she swore, "For fuck's sake, don't appear like that all of a sudden," she said. Trevor noticed something — the bags under Levi's eyes. "Have you even sleep?" he asked, and Levi replied.
"I don't need sleep. I need answers. Anyway, here is the book that you are looking for. It has most of the spells to lock down the castle in place, and it's written in Adamic, the original human language. I read it and know what we were looking for, but I don't have to explain, so just read. I trust you can complete the spell, Sypha," he said rapidly before speeding away. "Is he going to be okay?" Alucard asked, and Trevor replied, "Probably not," while Sypha dived back into the book. Suddenly she yelled, "Wait, how did you read all these books? They span across generations with a multitude of languages!" Levi suddenly appeared. "Magic, luv — keep up," he said before disappearing.
"Is there anything his magic can't do?" Trevor asked as Sypha frowned unhappily. "This is unfair," she said before she got to work completing the spell. When she was finished and happy with her work, Levi suddenly appeared, this time with an empty book in one hand while he held his head with his other hand as his brain throbbed from the mountains of information he was currently holding. He panted, "Finally, I am done," he said weakly as Trevor laughed. "No way you read generations' worth of libraries," he said. Levi smiled. "It doesn't if you believe. By the way, I'm keeping this empty book," he said, and Trevor nodded before Levi sat down to recover his mana to the brim. "What are you doing?" Alucard asked. Levi replied, "I'm going to try and do something important, so don't interrupt me, teenage boy," he said, annoying Alucard.
Apparently, Alucard being half-human and half-vampire meant that he grew up quickly — literally — so he was like a teenager trapped in an adult's body, and he hated how Sypha, Levi, and Trevor teased him. After recovering his mana, Levi started chanting. "Oh magic, enchant this item so that I could transfer the mountains of knowledge I currently possess and it holds it," he cast, instantly consuming half of his mana as memories were drained from his mind. But he didn't stop there. "Oh magic, make that spell semi-permanent so that it holds the knowledge indefinitely but requires my mana in order to access that information," he smiled as if he had found a loophole through his magic.
Levi knew that permanent magic was way beyond him at the moment, especially with his miserable mana pool. That's why he had thought of a semi-permanent spell. Semi-permanent spells are those that do not require a constant drain on the caster's mana to maintain their basic structure or existence but do require an input of mana to activate or access their full functionality. That's why he was proud at the moment, but magic seemed to have caught on to his foolish attempt as it mercilessly took all of his remaining mana in retaliation, causing faint crack lines to appear on his perfected sphere core. This instantly brought excruciating pain as he suddenly bled from his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose, causing the trio to panic.
"It's fine — don't interrupt me!" Levi yelled as he started to meditate despite the pain, drawing mana into his dry and cracked core. Thankfully, the cracks were faint and not enough to leak magic, but boy, were they painful as fuck. It took hours to recover from the internal damage and pour more magic into his painfully throbbing core. As he fell on his back, he groaned, "Fuck, that hurts," wiping the blood from his face. "Levi, what happened?" Sypha asked, concerned. Levi sat up, "It's fine — I bit off more than I could chew," he said, picking up the book — the first-ever semi-permanently enchanted book. He didn't provide mana into it, meaning that it was an ordinary book — a great disguise tool as well, it also meant that only levi could access the knowledge in book now.
Laying on the cold floor, Levi's complexion was dangerously pale as he breathed haggardly. "Are you really okay?" Sypha asked, sort of concerned. Levi replied, "Not really. Casting magic is going to hurt a bit, but lucky for me, I've got a Speaker sorceress, a monster hunter, and a teenage vampire in an adult's body to protect me," he chuckled as Alucard groaned. "Are you ever going to drop that?" Alucard asked unhappily.
Levi replied, "I'll stop the moment Trevor stops drinking," he offered just as the entire place shook and distant roars could be heard. "You really chose the best time to hurt yourself," Trevor said as they frowned. "Don't worry about me — even in this state, I can still cast enough spells to kill any oncoming night creatures," Levi said. Suddenly, an idea struck him. "Maybe I can temper my core with this. Since every single mana movement is painful, surely casting magic while my core is in this state would increase the tempering speed," having such a crazy idea, Levi smiled as he got up.
"I think I'm going to take them all on," Levi said. "Are you crazy? In this state, forget about fighting!" Sypha yelled. Trevor added, "Plus, I want to try out the Morning Star," he said with a grin. "Yeah, sit this one out," Alucard said as they all headed out, Levi following behind them. His body was still pale, and he was sweating profusely, but he still moved. He didn't forget to pick up his book, channeling raw mana into it without communicating with magic, which made the book glow with mana. "Agh, fuck, this hurts," he groaned — moving mana while his core was still recovering was painful as fuck but still doable. As he searched the book, his eyes scanned for something specific. "Let's see… holy magic," he muttered, looking through the holy-type magic stored in the Belmont library's knowledge now housed in his book — until he finally found one. "Nice," he smiled. Despite not being able to use this world's sorcerer system, he could still command his magic to have similar effects.

A/N so yeah, meet the miniature library, the first magical item that levi creates, and as you can see, the core is a problem, at its current stage its quite fragile and that is by design as without it, levi could just reality warp, and that is just to easy, so he has to suffer, hence the fragile core, but as his core evolves in shapes, it gets stronger and his mana cool grows, so this weakness wont last forever.
