"The boy definitely doesn't have any abilities, not even the slightest manifestation happened in the roh extraction." My assistant said while still staring at their screen.
a boy with roh capacity that high while not having awakened their ability would put them easily in the top one percent of talent, at least for roh capacity that is.
My assistant after a short pause continued. "I'm impressed by the kids natural capacity but without any ability being part of the divers is far too risky. Should I transfer him out and tell him this was just a mistake?"
"No, keep him on." I responded. "if he dies that's just too bad but he is an orphan from the outer ring anyways, no one will care. However if he awakens his abilities he could stand as one of the pillars of this next generation"
"You mean he could have potential close to the other 3?" My assistant said with a bewildered look on his face.
I looked him in the eye. "Lets see."
'4' POV
opening my eyes I saw I was face planted right on the ground up, I didn't know if I had passed out or my senses just blacked out for a long time but it hardly made a difference. I was surprised to find I didn't feel any pain from what just happened, I just felt very tired. like all the life had been drained out of me.
Axmon's familiar voice bellowed throughout the room. "You may leave, you will be given 4 hours to rest. That is all, dismissed"
As he said this the door opened for me to go through, thought I was still just getting up off the floor so it took a few seconds to actually leave the room.
As I turned to leave the room, someone seemed to just appear in front of me. It was a boy with pitch black eyes and hair, someone who had absolutely no presence at all. I wouldn't have even noticed him if not for the fact I had almost ran straight through the guy.
Awkwardly I said "Um hi, sorry for almost hitting you."
He didn't say anything just walked into the training hall.
'Okay, didn't know what I expected but definitely not that'
Only then did I notice that he was walking in the heavy direction even though there was absolutely no one in the hallway.
'Is his room the one right next to it or something?'
either way I continued on through the light direction and as I walked by I noticed a few doors open and some friend groups inside them already but I just simply walked by not talking to anyone.
Right as I was about to reach my room I heard someone on my right speak. "How did you get hair like that? Hair that white honestly looks pretty cool, I want to know did you bleach it or something?"
I looked over to see a fairly well built guy with freckles who was the one talking to me standing at the door to '7'. There was also another guy and two girls in the room just sitting down on the floor.
"No" I responded bluntly, then realised I should probably continue. "I didn't bleach my hair, I just have white hair."
A girl with red hair and a soothing voice in the back leaned over and said "That's cool you even got the edgy mask and dirty clothes like some badass."
Only then did I realise that my clothes were indeed quite weird for a place like this.
"Its not to look cool I just live and work in the outer rings and the filtration and dirt there can be a problem." I said trying to save myself from embarrassment.
The guy at the door had pity written over his face before saying "tough life huh? I've been through those rings a few times and yeah they really need to improve that place but hey we are all here now aren't we. Who cares where you are from."
"Yeah..." I responded while not quite being sure what to say to that
"Right, its awkward talking to you like this. Just come on in." He said after a small pause
While I followed him inside I said "Sure why not, but I am really damn tired after the other roh test they pulled me into training hall B for."
He turned around to look at me and said "Oh? I hadn't heard of that, I thought I would be near the start of the list considering I'm 7."
I opened my mouth to speak but 7 spoke first "I just realised I forgot to introduce us all."
7 continued to speak "As I have just said I am designation '7' or just 7 because that's easier"
He was a fairly large guy with brown hair who seemed more like a teddy bear then he had all right to.
He pointed at a girl with red hair and green eyes who seemed to have as much muscle as 7 did "This is '9'"
Despite her physique her voice was quite smoothing as she said "As he said I am '9', its nice to meet you."
The other girl in the back interrupted and said "Hi I'm '49'." She was the classic cutesy girl down to her puffy blond hair and being very petite.
The last one was a guy was someone with black hair and amber eyes who seemed to be perfectly relaxed right now. "I'm '13'"
'That's it? Alright fair enough, got to respect the simplicity'
"Hi, I'm '4'." I felt like I should say something more but nothing actually came to mind.
7 seemed like he had an epiphany "So that explains why you went to the roh test first, they probably are counting up the numbers. Speaking of which tell us about it."
'If it counts up that means the kid I saw is '5', actually wait that means he went through the heavy direction the entire time there even without any need to. That guy is super weird. That also means the girl I saw is '3'.'
During my thoughts I had paused for a while but not quite long enough to be weird "This test was different then my last one. Instead of simply taking the roh from my body, it completely filled my body with roh and then took it all out."
"So it was an ability test? That test forcefully manifests ones ability if they have one." 13 said casually as if reading from a text book in his mind.
'Oh shit, that means they know I don't have an ability.' I started sweating at this thought, I really didn't want to go back to the life I had before. Even despite how much dread all this promised. 'But wait they would have kicked me out immediately, do they know I don't have an ability and kept me here anyway or do they think I have some ability that doesn't physically manifest.'
"What kind of ability do you have 4?" 49 asked.
My mind raced to what kind of lies I could give, it couldn't be something obvious you can see. "I have a sensory ability"
The idea came from how my senses cut out while I was doing the 'ability' test as 13 called it "What's yours?"
49 giggled before saying "Okay fine, I have an ability to shift the form of solid matter slightly though I have to say we shouldn't reveal our blessings or curses to others. I didn't actually think you would tell me yours with no fuss."
'Oh god that's embarrassing, shit' I was mad at myself for being stupid enough to just say that to someone but it was a stark reminder that I needed to be cautious about what I say. Especially because now I actually had to act as if I actually had some sensory ability. Though luckily I hadn't been stupid enough to say the exact details of this 'ability' I had.
Axmon's voice resounded from the rooms speaker "Attention, go to training hall B immediately"
7 stood up immediately and said "Well that's me, wish me luck guys." then proceeded to walk out the door.
'He didn't even give us time to wish him luck'
Noticing just how tired I truly was I said "its been nice talking to you guys but I really need to go sleep, I am so damn tired"
9 spoke first saying "Yeah, no worries."
Half way through her speaking though 49 almost shouted "Your leaving already?? We haven't even done anything much today and you already want to sleep?"
I begun to leave the room and said "Yeah I am really out of it right now, I'll see you all later though."
"Alright bye bye." 49 said with a such a happy voice I felt weird, since I had never heard anyone really me excited on the outer rings.
I didn't know what else to say so just left and went to my room, which I proceeded to instantly collapse onto the bed and go to sleep without even going beneath the sheets.
