Darkness can strike fear into the hearts of even the bravest. Under Lorcan's leadership, a group of people quickly navigated through the dense jungle. As they moved deeper, the number of wild Pokémon began to dwindle.
A teacher familiar with the forest frowned and cautioned, "Be careful. We've likely entered the territory of a powerful Pokémon!"
The group noticed that not just any wild Pokémon were disappearing—the strong ones were vanishing as well. In the wild, only one "king" rules over a territory. Any intruder with a certain level of strength is seen as a threat, and the reigning Pokémon will defend its domain.
Hearing this, everyone tensed up.
Albus asked, "Are we there yet?"
Lorcan surveyed the area with a serious expression. "Something isn't right. There's a presence stronger than me interfering with my senses!"
Before he could finish speaking, Miss Wednesday suddenly exclaimed, "That tree just moved!"
The group turned their attention toward the trees. Then, another teacher behind them called out in alarm, "Two of our teachers are missing!"
"Ohh! Ohh! Wakaka!"
Sharp laughter echoed through the forest, sending chills down their spines. Miss Wednesday immediately became alert.
Without warning, all the flashlights in their hands flickered off.
The only source of light was gone. Darkness enveloped them completely.
Albus gripped a Poké Ball tightly in his palm.
"Everyone, grab the hand of the person next to you! Don't get separated!" Miss Wednesday's voice rang out, though it seemed to shift—one moment near, the next far away.
In the confusion, Albus reached out and grabbed a hand, but something felt off. The hand was too cold—nothing like that of a living person!
Although he understood that a ghost-type Pokémon was likely at work, the sudden encounter startled him. He instinctively pulled back, losing his balance and falling.
But the expected impact never came. Instead, it felt like he was sinking into a bottomless abyss.
A sensation of free fall overtook him.
Suddenly, dim blue candlelights flickered in the darkness.
By their glow, Albus could see ghost-type Pokémon floating all around him.
Candle Spirits... Crystal Lantern Spirits... Resentful Shadow Dolls... Ghoststones...
His mind raced.
What is this nightmare?
He hit the ground—but felt no pain. It was then that Albus realized: everything he had just experienced was an illusion.
Calm. Stay calm.
"Lorcan?" Albus called out, but there was no response.
"Ohh!"
"Eerie laughter surrounded him."
Small Candle Spirits materialized from the darkness, forming a path illuminated by eerie blue flames.
At first glance, the scene appeared almost welcoming. The Candle Spirits hovered on either side of the path, gazing at him with wide, innocent yellow eyes.
They seemed to say: "Come along, follow us, and you can leave."
But Albus knew better.
As a traveler from another time, he was well aware of how dangerous these Pokémon could be.
Candle Spirits prey on life force.
They often appear before lost wanderers in dark places, pretending to offer guidance. But in truth, they drain the vitality of those who follow them.
This was truly the "road to extradition"—a path where the living meet death.
And more alarming—Candle Spirits normally keep their flames low. Only when absorbing energy do they burn brightly.
Right now, their flames blazed vividly.
Albus didn't hesitate. He grabbed two Poké Balls and released Will Young and Magical Leaf.
"Gah?"
Will Young, with its usual goofy expression, appeared—but its presence brought Albus much-needed reassurance.
"Rollie!"
Magical Leaf sensed the danger and immediately assumed a battle stance.
"We mean no harm!" Albus tried reasoning. "I just want to take back the people you took!"
The only response was eerie laughter.
A cold breath tickled the back of his neck.
That was it—no more hesitation.
"Magical Leaf, use Magic Leaf attack!"
Perhaps he couldn't win. But if he didn't fight, death was certain.
"Rollie!"
Magical Leaf raised its rose-like wrists, releasing a surge of green energy. Countless sharp leaves shot toward the Candle Spirits.
The glowing leaves struck their targets, causing one of the Candle Spirits to flicker. But it didn't fall.
"Ohh!"
The other Candle Spirits let out sinister chuckles.
Dark shadow balls materialized and launched from every direction.
Several hit Magical Leaf directly, causing it to collapse instantly.
Albus's eyes widened.
The Candle Spirits weren't just playing tricks—they had real power.
From their aura, he could tell that these ghosts had lived for countless years. Neither he nor his newly evolved Magical Leaf was any match for them.
Damn it.
Albus clenched his fists.
Back in the Amazon Forest, Will Young had only activated its protection ability when he was in mortal danger. Would it happen again now?
There was no choice but to try.
He took a deep breath and shouted at the top of his lungs:
"WILL YOUNG! USE EXPLOSION SEED!"
"Gah!"
Maybe it was Albus's desperation, or maybe Will Young sensed the imminent danger—but something changed.
Its eyes sharpened with intensity. Its body trembled.
Then—BOOM.
A golden aura erupted from Will Young.
Fiery energy crackled, forming intricate patterns across its body—patterns reminiscent of the ones on Groudon in its primal form.
A rumbling sound shook the earth.
Energy surged into the ground beneath them.
Then, in an instant—
Massive fiery sword-like structures shot up from below, covering the battlefield in a sea of glowing red.
The impact was staggering.
"Ohh! Ohh!"
The Candle Spirits screeched as their illusions shattered.
The massive swords of energy split through the darkness, severing both their spirit bodies and the illusions they had woven.
One by one, the ghost-type Pokémon were consumed by the blazing attack.
Some tried to escape, but the flames pursued them relentlessly.
At the same time, far away in a distant mansion, someone stirred.
A figure opened their eyes, sensing the energy from the battle.
Their gaze locked onto the direction of the forest.
