"The food is so good!"
Sera delighted at the taste of the steak broth that she was eating. The dish was very special, from the seasoning, garlic, tomatoes and the salt it was all original ingredients. The overall dish was very well decorated, and aesthetically pleasing to look at.
The environment was the rest of restaurant was quite complementary to the food. The tables and chairs were made made of proper brown wood, that was polished and etched with proper cushioning.
On one these tables, Silver, Sera and Lisa shared a table enjoying their lunch together at the a day out. While sitting on the table Silver evaluated the events of the day.
"Lisa had placed the gold pouch in Sera's room to keep it safe. She was coming back to check up on me in the noon."
After Silver finished bawling his eyes in Lisa's arms, he made a explanation of having a really bad dream, she comforted her. Later, the three of them were on a day out trip to improve Silver's mood and have a tour of the city.
"The place is quite well lit and maintained." Silver complemented the place drinking the side of his own broth.
"Yes, this place looks quite expensive. I have been to this city for 12 years now. And I don't think I have ever eaten at the posh place like this. Thank you for bringing me here." Lisa once again bowed to Silver.
"No need for that... You have been taking care of me for such a long time and even helping me taking care of Sera without any payment. I think I should do this much a return."
Lisa did nothing but smiled at the words. Honestly the meeting was a little sad, Silver's treatment had nearly finished and soon there would be no reason from them to meet anymore and did make him sad.
"Even after seeing her so long... I know nothing about her. Maybe I should ask..."
"Lisa, you said that you haven't been to place like this restaurant since you came to this city. Don't doctor earn enough in the city? I mean, you told me that becoming a doctor is quite difficult these days."
"Yes, being a doctor is a bad carriers choice these days. Since, people have started thinking that one shouldn't need a doctor, if you get injured or sick you just need to make yourself strong enough the overcome the said disease or injury."
"Oh... I see." Silver could think up one logical reasoning for this.
"Since, mana capacity was so high in this world, healing from mid injuries must not be that hard...only if everyone in this world can use that mana."
"It's really difficult to be a doctor in the village or countryside, people would rather die than meet a doctor in those area. So, I had to shift to the capital to make a decent pay, then again here. I needed to shift to a richer district, because paying rent in a poorer one left me in debt. Even this district, I barely earn enough to pay rent for my shop and food."
Since Sera didn't want to pay attention to whatever the adults were talking about, she decided that only thing she was paying attention to was her tasty food and a glass of water.
"That's stuff. Then why don't you try to switch to some other high paying work? I mean you seem quite capable to me did you try that?"
"I did. Ever since, I learnt that a medical practitioner gets paid in the coppers and dimes, I wanted to switch to an alchemist. But that job is for the best of geniuses, I honestly don't understand how big of a brain they have."
"Alchemy? you mean potions brewing? People actually don't just sell potions around this place." Silver noted that he had made a little bit of a slip on tongue.
"You talk like potions aren't a delicacy but as common as a glass of water for you? Does the north have a fill of alchemists brewing day and night?" This was the thing about Lisa, when she was annoyed, she talked fast and in questions rather than sentences. She was still difficult after Silver using potions to enhance his recovery, opposing her work as a doctor.
"No... I didn't mean to anger you. The thing with potions in the north is that, we brew quite weak potions. Like we talked about my medication earlier, potions are quite weak and could be used for any purpose, so I don't think of them as much a luxury."
"I have already analyzed and checked if the potions were slowing down my recovery and they weren't. Potions in this world, are much different in this world than mine. I only weakened due to, excessive mana use and due to fatigue of changed atmosphere and environment."
"Well the potions we use are quite potent and effective. Some are so strong they can ever alter your entire metabolism and functioning. Potions are some of greatest and most difficult thing to produce in this world. I just wish I was alchemist, maybe one day I'll become one."
"Is there some sort of you know examination for becoming a alchemist? Like you have to know that much knowledge ? Or, some teacher's recommendations?"
"You have a make a entirely new potion by yourself, one whose recipe is unknown and then use it on yourself to prove it's effectiveness. Becoming a alchemist, is like a step you can never come back from."
Silver was taken aback from this, he did assume Lisa was about to take such drastic steps in her life, her life aspirations very uncertain and extreme.
"Is your life that really boring and unhappening?" Silver asked with a hint of worry.
"Before your caretaker gave me biggest payment of my life, I haven't had a customer that was bigger than 8 year old in years, not a drink conversation with friends and family where they wouldn't pester me about the choice of my carrier and some just called me out to be a freak. I want to break free of this shackles, I don't even remember why I took up this profession."
"I think you do remember..."
"Huh?"
"I mean, when you talk about being a doctor... even before today there was always a sense pride in words. I think you still feel good about being a doctor, it's just that you just have rotten mood due to people around. Being a doctor is still something good in my eyes."
Lisa had small smile on her face hearing that, Silver did not know whether it was mocking or happy. Sometimes, he couldn't read what was written on her face, or whatever her mood was.
"Whatever you say..."
Three of them finished their meals, Silver paid of the three of them using the money from the pouch. "I am quite surprised, that they paid he this much for taking me overtime at a investigation."
After paying for the food, the three began talking across the street of the district 3.
"Lisa."
"Yes."
"If you don't mind me asking... you don't even need to answer this. But what is the potion that you are trying to work on?"
"hm...Venom immunity."
