Anna handed the cube to me.
She'd managed to get the white face to tick constantly.
"Did the clockwork man help?" I asked, taking it back from her.
"Yes! So much. I figured out how to convince the spirit to keep the man walking. Once I learned that, I could keep the clock moving easily."
I grinned. "Okay," I turned it over to the yellow face. "This requires two spirits to move the clock. Why don't you give it a try?"
Anna took the cube from me, and focused on the clockface. Two spirits appeared in the air above the cube, and entered into it.
Impressive, but not unexpected.
She focused for a few minutes. Nothing.
"I've got nothing." She said, putting the cube down gently. The two spirits floated out and began chasing each other around the pavilion.
"Not even the most powerful mage alive right now could get this right the first time. It took her a month before she figured it out."
"Isn't Headmaster Pyrab the most powerful mage in the world?"
