"Checkmate." The king said, triumphantly.
I looked at the board in dismay. "Damn."
"You had me on the run, Lukas,"
"I didn't see that pawn, sire. If I had, I would have won."
The king chuckled. "Alright, master mage. Report."
"Master Filurias, a member of the board, has agreed to be our agent. He'll be travelling with your retinue if that's okay, sire?"
The king nodded. "That's fine. What else?"
"Terps the fishmonger says he's been getting reports of meetings between nobles here in the capital. They're discussing the regency, when you're gone down south, who's going to be in charge."
"Tila, of course." The king said, shaking his head. "I'll tell Thomas to break them up. I don't want her to have any trouble while I'm away."
"If she does, I'll start throwing fireballs, sire."
"Good man! And with Anna?"
"The highest authorities of the Academy have sworn to help the princess.The headmaster and others. I trust them with my life."
