Chapter 1 - Killer

Kade Parson was diagnosed at an early age with anti social personality disorder.

He had little cares for the world around him growing up, holding no concern for the distress of other people. As such he quickly became a bully once he entered school.

It was upon making a person cry, by pushing him over in grade one, did he realise something.

People become even more interesting and fun when you poke and prod at them.

By sixth grade his bullying habits dwindled, as they threatened to get him kicked out of school, he was intelligent enough to know that he had to stop, for now.

Instead he exerted his outlet of interest on other things.

Namely, he switched to animals.

At first he would poke the odd road kill with a stick, maybe kick it around.

Then he began to bring them home, smiling as he carefully dissected them in the forest behind his back-garden so that his parents wouldn't discover him, he would always bury the bodies after he was done with them.

It quickly moved from just messing with animal corpses, to creating them.

He started by shooting a squirrel with his father's nail gun.

Watching the meagre light drain from it's beady black eyes as it bled out was an experience he would hold onto for the rest of his life.

It becomes even more interesting when you kill something.

Next was the neighbours cat, he remembered having to shoot twice in order to get it down.

The bigger something was, the more joy he got out of killing it. It was a high that he couldn't live without.

So he progressively aimed higher through his teen years, using the excuse of hunting with his family to satisfy his ever increasing cravings.

But the big elk and deer he felled with his rifle simply wasn't enough and he knew deep down what he had to do next.

People become too interesting when you poke and prod at them.

He was seventeen years old at the time of his first murder. The victim was a homeless man, someone who would have no one looking for him, a quick few stabs to the gut and the man folded over dead within seconds.

Kade held the man's face, which was etched with a horrified expression whilst he got a closer look at the pupils as they lost their color.

How wonderful it was.

He refrained from doing it for a period of time afterwards, the body floated down the river out to sea, so it was never discovered by the police.

Instead he focused on his studies, becoming more interested in his detachment to all morals, he wished to research it, therefore he went to university to study philosophy.

Throughout his study of the great philosophers, Socrates, Plato, Nietzsche, Kant, he felt as though some of their ideas only built and strengthened what he believed already.

He had taken a liking to nihilism especially, as he never felt meaning in building relationships with other people. He always believed that the world had no inherent reasoning to exist.

Kade instead wished to create his own meaning and experience with the only expression he could gain from life being through the exploitation of others, through the lens of both objective and emotional curiosity.

The man got a kick out of killing people and making them suffer, however he also marvelled at the beauty present within their bodies and their fleeting emotional weaknesses, humans had become presents to him, just waiting to be opened up and enjoyed.

When he moved out he got more freedom, becoming a university lecturer for philosophy.

Because of this his killing started once more and it didn't stop, victim after victim he slaughtered in differing ways, with varying targets.

Man or woman, young or old, it didn't matter. Once he was done with the respective killing, he would often bury them under an animal corpse, so that the police would never be able to find them, even with sniffer dogs.

Over the years he grew in confidence with his kills, displaying them out in the open, either cut apart and assorted or with only their throat cut.

This earned him the nickname of the 'Aggregate Killer', due to the variety in his victims, becoming renowned internationally for the frequency and brutality of his crimes, it seemed they happened every other month at this point.

...

"Stop struggling, please." The man's voice echoed through the rusted and abandoned warehouse.

"MMM!"

A woman's high pitched voice muffles through a rag that's been stuffed in her mouth.

"You're my 90th, please don't ruin this special occasion, I usually treat every ten of mine very well, but if you make a commotion like this, I'll get really annoyed."

The man uses his hand to brush back his deep brown curly hair, it's rather unkempt and falls just above his ears.

"I'm going to remove the rag now, don't try screaming, or I'll be very sad."

The woman's muffled voice suddenly ceases, Kade smiles gently at this and removes the rag out of the woman's mouth.

"SOMEONE HELP!" She begins crying out incessantly as she rocks in the chair she was tied to.

"I told you." He clicks his tongue, turning to retrieve a weapon from out of his rucksack.

Suddenly he hears the sound of a chair falling over, pivoting around to look.

The woman is sprinting away, towards the warehouse door. His eyes widen as he begins to chase speedily after her.

Did I not tie it properly? That's unusual of me...

The area they were in was not widely accessible, because it was surrounded by a curving highway that snaked around the entire place.

Having no other options for escape, Kade saw as the woman sprinted out onto the busy road.

He scowled heavily at this, before running out onto the highway in turn.

His steps were many paces faster then hers, and he quickly caught up on the moist asphalt road, rain was pattering down.

They had both just narrowly avoided a car whizzing past when they tumbled down onto the floor, his arm was now placed firmly around her neck as it began to tighten.

Her hands clawed at anywhere they could reach on Kade's body, drawing some amount of blood, however it was ineffective in the end, his hold constricted her breathing for too long.

She fell limp on the wet highway, Kade peered upwards at the darkened sky with a satisfied smile.

His feeling of content was cut short by a blaring horn and a blinding pair of lights heading at him with speeds of 70 miles per hour.

Sudden black overwhelmed all of his senses.

Though, he could still construct coherent thoughts through this strange process.

Is death void of all meaning too? He ponders as he sits in the utter darkness.

As if refuting his question, his eyes suddenly open to a searing light.

He gazes at the far-stretching dunes of a golden desert in confusion.
