Eve paced back and forth in the room, teeth biting her finger. She would stop suddenly, look at the phone at the video of Patro, and breathe out.
Her eyes darted around the room and she bit further into her thumb.
Was she really going to sit and allow Patro to win this one?
Most definitely. She had no choice. Her father's life mattered the most here. She needed to first get him out of Patro's hand, and once she did, she could finally do what she—
"Eve."
She snapped her head up to the sound of Malakai's voice. The man walked into the room, and set aside the bag of what he'd gotten for her.
"You saw it, didn't you?"
Eve nodded at him. "I did."
"What are you going—" The phone in his pocket rang and he glanced at the ID on the screen.
Kael.
"What is it, Kael?"
[Boss, Mr. Ronan here is impatient about the meeting. He's threatening to back out if you don't come to the company."
The look on Malakai's face darkened.
"Give the phone to him."
[Yes sir]
