I woke up with a soft smile tugging at my lips. The memory of last night lingered like a favorite song—Nathaniel's hand in mine, his quiet laugh, the way he looked at me like I was the only thing that mattered. And that kiss. God, that kiss. It wasn't just sweet—it was honest, real. For the first time, it didn't feel like we were playing a part for others. It felt like us.
I rolled over, hugging my pillow, my mind still tangled in the warmth of him when a knock sounded on the door.
"Come in," I called, sitting up quickly.
Cassie peeked her head in, raising an eyebrow. "Well, well. Someone looks very well-rested."
I narrowed my eyes, trying not to blush. "Don't start."
She entered fully, arms folded with a knowing grin. "Tell me everything. The whole house saw you two sneak back in like high schoolers on curfew. Even Isabelle looked like she wanted to rip the paint off the wall."
I couldn't help the little smirk that escaped. "It was just a date."
