Camila's POV
By midday, I knew what it was. Isabelle had returned from a brief trip out of town, and now she and Selene were walking together. Like a united front. I overheard them—talk of "exposing the truth," "putting the rogue in her place," and "protecting Nathaniel."
I tried to shake it off, to focus on training or helping with tasks. But I could feel it coming—something dark, something deliberate.
That evening, Nathaniel was summoned by the elders for an emergency meeting. He kissed my forehead and told me not to worry. But I did. I worried the moment he walked out the door.
I waited hours.
Then, just after sunset, a guard knocked on my door.
"The Alpha has been detained for questioning," he said with a tight expression. "You're being accused of manipulating his decisions… through magic."
My breath caught. "What?"
He hesitated. "Selene brought forward an elder from a distant pack. They claim you've used enchantments. That you're dangerous."
The floor swayed beneath me.
