Camila's POV
I hadn't meant to eavesdrop. Truly, I hadn't. I was just walking past the hallway when Nathaniel's voice, sharp and laced with irritation, stopped me in my tracks.
"She needs to leave."
I froze. My pulse pounded in my ears. He was talking about Isabelle.
Selene's response came instantly, firm and unyielding. "She can't."
There was a beat of silence before she continued, her voice edged with disbelief. "Did you forget the promise we made to her parents before they died? They said she would always be welcome here."
My grip tightened on the fabric of my dress.
Selene didn't stop there. "Even our parents agreed, Nathaniel. They made the same promise. It wasn't just about her being your mate back then. We were all friends before that. She has nowhere else to go."
Nathaniel's voice dropped, tight with frustration. "That doesn't change the fact that Camilla is my fiancée. Whether you like it or not, you need to respect her."
My breath hitched.
