Chapter 56 - A Broken Love

Yuna stared at Hwan, his head slumped on her shoulder, unmoving.

At first, she thought he had fallen asleep.

But then…

Something felt wrong.

He wasn't breathing.

She leaned in slowly.

— "Hwan?"

When no response came, her voice grew louder:

— "Hwan?!"

His body slipped sideways and collapsed onto the floor.

Panic-stricken, Yuna dropped to her knees and cradled him in her lap.

She touched his cheek with her palm—it was starting to grow cold.

With trembling hands, she pulled out her phone.

She called one of Hwan's men:

— "Please… come quickly! Hwan… Hwan passed out!"

Minutes later, Hwan's doctor arrived at the mansion.

Yuna was barely standing by the door, her knees weak.

Hours passed before the doctor came out to speak.

His voice was calm but weary.

— "He's alive. But his condition isn't good. His body is shutting down. What has upset him this much?"

All eyes turned to Yuna.

She felt the weight of their stares—guilt, sadness, shame washing over her.

She steadied herself and looked at the doctor.

— "So… will he be okay?"

The doctor shook his head slowly.

— "He's out of immediate danger, but he'll need serious treatment. He must rest and avoid standing or moving for a long time."

Yuna exhaled deeply, as if a burden had been lifted from her chest.

She lowered her head for a moment before straightening up.

— "Alright… then I'll return to the café. You'll contact me if anything changes, right?"

— "Of course. For now, he'll only be sleeping. No need for anyone to stay with him."

Yuna glanced one last time at the room where Hwan lay.

His face was pale, but he seemed at peace in sleep.

She closed the door quietly and walked away.

Back at the café, her heart wasn't fully at ease.

But at least… he was alive.

And for now, that was enough.

Escape into the Sunset

As Yuna sat at a table in the café, sorting through order slips, her phone rang.

She looked at the screen—it was Eunwoo.

She hesitated for a moment, then answered.

— "Hello?"

— "Are you at the café?"

— "Yes… why?"

— "Then come out. I'm waiting for you."

Yuna frowned.

— "Come out where? Where are you?"

— "I'm right outside. In my car. I'm watching you right now."

She glanced toward the window. Sure enough, a black-tinted car was parked outside.

— "Eunwoo… I can't just get in your car. What if your fans see me? There could be another scandal…"

His voice softened, filled with longing.

— "But I missed you, Yuna."

— "If you won't come out… the café seems pretty full today. Maybe I should just walk in?"

Yuna panicked.

— "Don't you dare!"

Eunwoo chuckled.

— "Then I'll count to three…"

— "One…"

— "Two…"

— "Okay, okay! I'm coming! Just wait five minutes, please!"

The sun was slowly slipping toward the horizon.

The sky looked like it had been painted by an artist's heart—burnt orange, faded purples, and soft pinks dancing above.

The breeze was gentle, like a melody brushing over old, buried feelings.

Yuna stepped to the edge of a hill overlooking the sea.

She took off her shoes, feeling the grass beneath her bare feet.

Her eyes were on the sky… but her thoughts were with the man walking quietly behind her.

Eunwoo, as always, was silent.

But this silence wasn't heavy—it was peaceful.

He laid a thin blanket on the ground.

Yuna sat beside him without a word.

They gazed at the sky together.

— "You know," Eunwoo said, his voice softer than the wind,

"Even when you're with me… I still miss you."

Yuna turned to look at him.

He turned too.

Their eyes met—no past between them now, no future.

Only this moment… and them.

— "Have you forgiven me?" Yuna whispered.

Her voice trembled, but her eyes were steady.

Eunwoo gave a faint smile.

He reached out and gently touched her cheek.

— "If you're asking about the contract marriage with Hwan… I'm still hurt and angry.

But I understand now that you did it for my group.

So… thank you. For Nova. And only for Nova."

Yuna took his hand in hers.

— "But that day at the café—"

Eunwoo held a finger to her lips.

— "Yes, I came. And anyone in my place would've done the same.

But today, we're not talking about the past, my love.

Just know this: I trusted you.

And I'm grateful for what you did for me… and for Nova."

Yuna rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes with peace.

— "I love you."

Eunwoo leaned closer, his hands caressing her fingers and her face.

— "I love you too."

Then… he turned her face gently toward his.

Their foreheads touched.

Their breaths became one.

Just as the sun kissed the ocean, the sky turned crimson—

as if their hearts had painted it themselves.

They kissed.

The wind stopped.

The world went still.

But in that kiss, there was reunion, forgiveness, and something eternal.

Then Eunwoo rested his head on Yuna's shoulder.

He closed his eyes.

Yuna nestled her face in his hair.

The sun set.

But love…

was reborn once again.
