Wan Qian patted her shoulder knowingly.
"I understand. It's normal to feel embarrassed, no need to be ashamed. Do you need a sanitary pad? I can lend you one later."
Since the farm was in a remote area, Wan Qian had anticipated the inconvenience of buying personal hygiene products. So, she had specially prepared enough for two months and stored them in the bedroom above her office along with her luggage.
Wen Xirou grew anxious. "Actually, I... I wanted to talk about my job..."
Wan Qian caught on again, "Oh, are you having stomach pain and can't work? You want to take a leave?"
"Huh?" Wen Xirou widened her eyes at Wan Qian.
"Come with me to the office. I'll help you get a leave slip signed." As a fellow woman, Wan Qian was quite understanding of such situations.
A leave slip? Wen Xirou recalled that the head of the cleaning department had mentioned yesterday that besides swapping tasks with someone, another way to avoid certain jobs was to take leave.
Could it be that Big Shot had seen through her intentions from the very start? Was that why she had proactively asked if she was on her period? After all, taking leave required a legitimate reason.
But what Wen Xirou hadn't expected was that Big Shot was so impressive! She had visited the farm owner's office yesterday and not only returned unscathed but she also had a way to get a signed leave slip from the farm owner.
"But… won't this cause trouble for you?"
Wen Xirou, though pleasantly surprised, immediately realized that getting a leave slip might not be an easy task. It could even be dangerous. She only wanted to attach to Big Shot, but she wasn't selfish enough to expect Big Shot to risk herself for her.
Wan Qian hummed thoughtfully.
"It should be fine. It might be a little troublesome, but it's not a big deal." After all, if everyone takes leave, there will be one less person working. It definitely wouldn't work if everyone did that.
She thought for a moment, then warned Wen Xirou, "Don't mention this to anyone for now."
"Mm-hmm." Wen Xirou understood without needing to be told.
At the same time, she felt relieved that she had chosen to speak with Big Shot privately. If others heard that Big Shot had a way to get a signed leave slip, they'd probably all come to Big Shot for help.
Wan Qian led Wen Xirou back to the cafeteria.
After breakfast, everyone gradually dispersed to their assigned tasks. As the number of people in the restaurant dwindled, the worry on Wen Xirou's face grew heavier.
Wan Qian, however, remained calm. She waited until most people were gone, then took Wen Xirou by the arm and walked up to the butler.
"She's feeling unwell and needs a leave slip." Wan Qian looked up at the butler, stating her request with a steady tone.
Wen Xirou shrank behind Wan Qian like a timid quail, too nervous to speak.
The butler maintained his usual composed and courteous demeanor.
"Of course." The butler smiled at Wan Qian, but his words were directed at Wen Xirou. "However, I must remind you that the leave slip can only be signed one day in advance. If the leave slip is signed today, it can only be used tomorrow."
Wan Qian suddenly recalled that the employee handbook did indeed state that leave requests had to be submitted a day in advance.
Wen Xirou's face turned pale.
"Since work schedules are arranged ahead of time, it would be difficult to make last-minute adjustments," the butler added considerately.
"I see." Wan Qian glanced at Wen Xirou, hesitated for a few seconds, then made a decision. "How about this—I'll take over her task for today."
The butler asked, "Are you sure you want to swap jobs with her?"
Wan Qian nodded. "Yes."
Although she couldn't help Wen Xirou take leave for today, she could at least swap her task for a lighter one. The office was clean and tidy—having Wen Xirou do some cleaning there wouldn't be too strenuous.
"Very well," the butler agreed. He then turned to Wen Xirou and said, "Please come with me."
Wen Xirou clutched Wan Qian's arm tightly, her gaze wary as she eyed the butler.
Wan Qian gently patted her hand and reassured her in a calm voice, "It's okay. Go ahead."
A trace of hesitation flickered in Wen Xirou's heart. For a moment, she even suspected that Big Shot was deliberately pushing her into a trap.
What if working in the office was actually more dangerous than clearing the lawn? But—Wen Xirou knew that she had no choice but to trust her.
If both jobs were dangerous, then for her, the options were like choosing between being beheaded or being torn apart.
In that case, struggling was pointless. She might as well go along with Big Shot's arrangement.
Maybe Big Shot wasn't harming her. Maybe she was actually protecting her. Perhaps today, the office was safe?
Her thoughts swirled chaotically, and after a long moment of internal turmoil, she finally gritted her teeth and agreed. "Alright."
Wen Xirou followed the butler.
As she walked away, Wan Qian casually added, "If you get bored, you can read some of the books in the office."
Wen Xirou was led toward the two-story building where the office was located.
Meanwhile, Wan Qian called the head of the cleaning department and and asked him to take her to the lawn that Wen Xirou needed to clean.
Throughout the way, Wen Xirou kept wondering what Big Shot's true intentions were. She tried her best to calm herself and not panic.
After all, someone as kind-hearted as Big Shot, who had even been willing to share a dorm room with Jiang You last night, shouldn't be trying to harm her on purpose.
With her heart in turmoil, Wen Xirou followed the butler. Despite her intense fear of the office, she still arrived.
When they arrived, the butler opened the office door and gestured for her to enter.
"Cleaning the office is your task, but make sure not to break anything," he reminded Wen Xirou before closing the door.
Wen Xirou instinctively turned around and tried to twist the doorknob—only to find that it wouldn't budge.
It was locked from the outside.
Panic surged through her, but she forced herself to stay calm. She slowly turned back and looked around the office.
