Chapter 11 - The Awakening Crystal

But even as he said the words, he couldn't help but wonder if she was right. After all, Lucas wasn't the first person who had felt threatened by his family's status.

There had been plenty of others over the years, and while most were content to grumble quietly, there were always a few who acted on their anger.

Maybe one day, Lucas would be one of them.

Or maybe he was just a spoiled brat with too much pride and not enough sense.

Only time will tell.

Ethan let out a small breath and shifted his attention to something far more important—the Awakening Crystal.

This was the first time he had seen one in real life. Until now, he had only ever read about them in books or seen images on screens.

The actual crystal, however, was far more awe-inspiring than any picture could capture.

The massive, translucent stone sat in the center of the testing room, radiating an almost hypnotic glow.

Its surface shimmered with shifting colors, like liquid light frozen in time, constantly changing between deep blues, fiery reds, and soft silvers.

Around the crystal stood a group of white-robed priests, their heads bowed and hands clasped together as they silently waited for the right time.

This is because the awakening Crystals were considered one of the most guarded treasures in the world. Only a select few ever had the privilege of seeing one up close.

It wasn't just a simple rock—it was the very foundation of superpower awakenings. Without these crystals, humanity's advancement into a world of abilities wouldn't have been possible.

As he stared at it, his mind drifted back to what he had learned in class about the Superpower Tiers.

Superpowers weren't just random abilities. They followed a structured system, categorized into ranks based on their strength and versatility:

Superpower Tier ClassificationLow-Tier Superpowers

F-Rank – The weakest abilities, barely surpassing normal human capabilities.

E-Rank – Basic superpowers with minor enhancements, such as slight strength or agility boosts.

Medium-Tier Superpowers

D-Rank – Noticeable superhuman abilities, combat-capable but still limited.

C-Rank – Well-developed superpowers with versatility and moderate combat effectiveness.

High-Tier Superpowers

B-Rank – Strong superpowers that can influence battles significantly, often granting special abilities beyond physical enhancement.

A-Rank – Elite-level superpowers, capable of affecting large areas and dominating normal superhumans.

Top-Tier Superpowers

S-Rank – Extremely powerful abilities that can shape battlefields and challenge entire armies.

SS-Rank – Legendary-level powers feared across the world, with near-unmatched destructive or support capabilities.

SSS-Rank – Mythical-level superpowers, wielded by the strongest individuals and capable of altering the course of history itself.

He knew that most people who went to awaken their powers would not awaken high or top-tier superpowers.

These powers were incredibly rare and only found in 0.001% of the population, which was why those who did awaken them were considered lucky and had a chance to become powerful and stand among the strongest of their generation.

Most people ended up somewhere between D-Rank and B-Rank, and that was already considered impressive.

As for himself, he didn't know what his range was. With his Incubus bloodline, there was a chance he could awaken a power beyond the normal classifications.

But, he wouldn't be overconfident as everything depended on the amount of magic particles which had entered someone's body.

And this cannot be changed unless they are placed at the center of the planet, where the concentration of magic particles is higher than normal.

However, no one can survive there because the temperature is hot enough to melt metals.

So, it is either their fate or the luck factor, and it can only be found out after they awaken their superpowers.

His gaze lingered on the crystal, wondering what it would reveal about him.

"Fascinating, isn't it?"

A deep, calm voice pulled Ethan from his thoughts. He turned to see an older man standing at the front of the room, addressing the gathered candidates.

The man had sharp eyes that held a sense of wisdom, his silver-streaked black hair neatly tied back.

He wore a crisp, professional-looking uniform, marking him as someone important. His presence alone commanded attention, and the room gradually fell silent as he stepped forward.

"Hello, everyone. I am your examiner for today's awakening ceremony," the man announced, his voice carrying through the hall.

"My job is to evaluate and record the abilities you awaken. The Awakening Crystal will trigger your powers, but it does not tell you what they are. That is where I come in."

He paused, his gaze sweeping over the crowd. "When you step into the circle, the crystal will activate, and the energy inside will be released.

The color of the crystal's aura will indicate the type of power you have awoken.

White represents a low-tier power, blue is medium-tier, orange is high-tier, and red is a top-tier ability. The brighter the color, the stronger the power.

For those of you who awaken a high or top-tier ability, you will be given special treatment. You will receive additional training and access to the best resources.

Your potential will be nurtured, and you will be groomed into one of the future leaders of our society."

There was a murmur of excitement in the room, the prospect of having a rare power bringing hope and anticipation.

"But please remember," the examiner added, "that your awakened power's strength will be evaluated based on the standard ranking system.

Remember, regardless of the tier you awaken, it's how you use it that truly matters."

"Now, please line up and prepare for your awakening. Good luck."

With that, the room erupted into activity as the candidates scrambled to get in line. The tension in the air was thick, the atmosphere charged with nervous anticipation.

Everyone was eager to find out their superpower.
