Shantel's delicate brows arched in confusion. "Something you can never get back? What do you mean?"
Shantel saw Richard's expression darken and his gaze turn distant as if recalling something buried deep that perhaps he'd have loved to leave buried forever.
It seems whatever it was, was something very special. What could be more special and important to Richard Domango other than his career and his wealth. He didn't give the impression of someone who would fall in love, as only the loss of a loved one could plunge one into such despair as he was currently displaying.
While she thought about this, she least expected Richard to reply as he had spent more than a minute thinking whether to disclose whatever it was to her or not.
"There was someone," he finally said.
"Oh," Shantel uttered.
"Someone I was planning to propose to."
