Chapter 91 - Two Angewomon

"It's Gatomon... how nostalgic."

Angewomon's voice echoed in Moss's mind—after all, she too had once been a Gatomon who evolved into an Angewomon after much hardship.

Smiling, Moss raised her hand in greeting to Gatomon and Wizardmon. "Good evening."

"An angel...?" Gatomon's expression tensed, her entire body on alert.

Wizardmon stood nearby, gripping his staff tightly.

Gatomon said sternly, "Are you here to make trouble for me?"

Angewomon (Moss) was puzzled by the hostility. If this were BlackGatomon, the suspicion might make sense, but this was clearly a white Gatomon—normally one expected to evolve into her kind.

"We're of the same kind. No need to be so tense," Moss tried to reassure her.

"Hmph, who's the same kind as you?!" Gatomon bared her fangs.

"You're a Gatomon, and most likely will evolve into something like me. You didn't know that?" Moss replied.

"What!?" Gatomon was shocked.

Wizardmon looked back and forth between Moss and Gatomon.

Astamon observed, "Looks like this Digital World is less developed."

In Moss's Digital World (Data Squad), Digimon living there would naturally know Gatomon can evolve into Angewomon. The development level of a Digital World isn't just measured by power levels—but by the average Digimon's knowledge.

"This Digital World?" Wizardmon's eyes lit up. "You're not from here? Are you from an alternate dimension?"

"You could say that," Astamon nodded.

Wizardmon asked eagerly, "Is it Witchelny?"

Gatomon glanced sideways—Wizardmon was usually so quiet, yet now he looked... excited?

"No," Astamon shook his head. "So there's an alternate world called 'Witchelny' too? Parallel Digital Worlds are really abundant."

As a Dimensionalmon, Astamon had sensed how complex the multiverse was—even with its name, the Dimensionalmon was more like a boat riding between islands of worlds, not a master of them.

Moss added, "Witchelny's a world of magic—Digimon there all train to become magic users, right?"

"Yes," Wizardmon nodded.

Moss thought of SageMon and its connection to Witchelny—if she wanted to unlock that line of evolution, she'd eventually need to visit.

"Can you still return there?" she asked.

"Not anymore," Wizardmon answered.

"That's a shame," Moss sighed gently, then began asking about magic.

Though only a Champion-level Digimon, Wizardmon was quite knowledgeable—especially in fire and earth magic.

Astamon, Goblimon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gekomon, and Kunemon all sat down to listen but quickly realized they didn't understand any of it.

So they opened their bags and started making camp, pulling out Digimon rations and eating heartily.

"Here." Goblimon handed a pouch of Digimon jelly to Gatomon.

In the past, Digimon food resembled pet kibble—nutritional but unappetizing. Since the two worlds connected, Digimon status improved, and their rations became more palatable—like astronaut food.

This jelly packet was sweet, resealable, and easy to suck up.

"...Thanks," Gatomon took it, mimicking Goblimon's motion and sipping the jelly.

Fruity and tasty!

But as she sipped, she saw Wizardmon chatting happily with Moss, and a strange emptiness bubbled up inside her—like she didn't belong anymore.

It's like I was first... and now I'm forgotten...

She quickly dismissed the thought.

Wizardmon had found a more suitable companion. She should be happy for him, not jealous.

She herself had never known what she was even waiting for. Trapped in a dark castle with dark-type Digimon, always feeling out of place, alone.

She had seen that same loneliness in Wizardmon, which is why she saved him.

But now he had found his people, and she—still lost.

So Gatomon made a decision, gulped down the last of the jelly, and said, "Wizardmon, let's part ways."

"What?" Wizardmon was startled.

"You have your path. I have mine. Different roads," Gatomon turned to walk into the darkness.

But no matter how hard she stepped—she couldn't move forward.

Looking down, she realized her feet were floating ten centimeters off the ground.

"What are you doing!?"

Gatomon snapped, turning to see Moss raising a hand in casting motion.

Rooster Talisman—Power of Levitation!

"Don't go just yet," Moss said. "I still have a lot of questions for you."

"Hmph. I've got nothing to say," Gatomon looked away.

"We're kindred. Someday you'll become Angewomon, just like me. So c'mon—smile."

Smaile

"I'll never evolve into Angewomon," Gatomon muttered.

Silence.

Moss approached. "It might tickle a bit. Bear with it."

"What?"

Suddenly, a warmth spread through Gatomon's body—like gentle water flowing through her.

Something inside her awakened.

Her body elongated, arms and legs grew, golden hair flowed down her back, and white wings unfurled.

In mere seconds, she had transformed.

Looking down past the new peaks on her chest, Gatomon saw elegant fingers—no longer paws.

A message echoed in her mind:

Angewomon. Ultimate Level. Attacks: Celestial Arrow, Heaven's Charm, Holy Bubble...

"You're one of us now," Moss said with a smile.

This was her first test—could she use her DigiSoul to help a Digimon in another Digital World evolve?

Answer: yes.

Then she wondered—could humans in this world produce DigiSoul?

Find someone and try passing the flame, she thought.

Suddenly, the Angewomon inside Moss whispered, "Her holy power surpasses what we had."

With a tinge of envy.

Moss replied, "Then we need to give her a proper name. There are two Angewomon now—it'll get confusing."

"...Lucy," said the new Angewomon. "Call me Lucy."

"Such a radiant and wise name!" Moss smiled. "Pleased to meet you, Lucy."

Lucy chuckled. "We've been traveling for a while now, you know."

"Still, it's nice to meet anew."

Wizardmon congratulated her. "Well done, Gatomon—no, Angewomon."

"...No!" Lucy trembled. "If Lord Myotismon sees me like this, he'll kill me!"

Lord Myotismon?

That confirmed it.

Moss had suspected, but now she was sure—this was Digimon Adventure's Digital World.

No wonder Lucy's holy power was so strong—she was a chosen partner Digimon.

So this Gatomon... is that Gatomon.

Yet she cowered like she'd seen Gin with Shiho.

So Moss slapped her.

SMACK!

Lucy flew backward and landed on her butt.

The others pretended not to notice.

Wizardmon tried to mediate. "You're both Angewomon. Please don't fight."

But Lucy didn't care about the pain—just stared, stunned.

"Why?" she asked.

"To snap you out of it," Moss replied. "You're an Ultimate now—don't cower."

"You don't understand how terrifying Lord Myotismon is!"

Moss crossed her arms. "Then we'll just kill him if he shows up."

Her Digimon crew proudly puffed their chests.

Lucy sneered, "That bunch of misfits? My old troops were stronger."

"Then why didn't you rebel?" Moss asked calmly.

Lucy fell silent.

"...You don't understand," she said, lowering her head.

Wizardmon wanted to say something, but didn't.

Silence fell.

Then Lucy—Angewomon newly born—heard Moss say, "Hey. Look at me."

Lucy looked up and froze.

A magical circle glowed.

Wizardmon's eyes lit up. A magic I've never seen!

When the light faded, Moss had taken on a new form.

"Lord Myotismon!?"

Lucy trembled.

Moss had used Receive Magic to become a Blood Queen, adopting the appearance of a seductive vampire Digimon.

She leaned in close, raising Lucy's chin.

So close their lips nearly brushed.

Even the folds in their armor were visible.

"Wh-what are you doing!?" Lucy gasped.

Why did this Angewomon just turn into a female Myotismon lookalike?

Is there... a Lady Myotismon out there!?
