The whole room fell into silence but then Lunara scoffed, "You suddenly appeared before me, trying to act like a husband, disgusts me! Completely! You think just because you are rich I would be welcoming you with open arms?"
Eryx's jaw tightened, his eyes darkening. "That's not what I—"
"Oh, please," Lunara cut him off, crossing her arms. "Let me make it clear to you, Mr. Eryx Cyrus Grantham… I don't need you now." She stood up, her voice sharp. "I survived that hell for two years with no one by my side. So why do you think I suddenly need you now?"
Eryx grabbed her arm gently. "I'm sorry. I really am." That was all he could say, all he could offer.
Lunara let out a bitter laugh. "Sorry? That's all you have? You think that fixes everything?" Her voice cracked slightly, betraying the emotion she refused to show.
