Chapter 22 - C22 - Readying for Purpose

Luke Jaywalker felt his heart heat up as the spirit fruit went down his esophagus. The heat rose from his belly until it reached the tips of his head. The fire consumed him for several minutes before reaching a standstill.

A man used to pain, he calmly kneeled on the ground as his mind cried out in anguish.

Once it was done, he felt his mind slowly awaken. As mentioned previously by Lawrence, he felt a substantial increase in his spirit energy accumulation.

'So this the effect of Soul Power…'

He opened his eyes. Lawrence was waiting for him. "They'll give you your mech embryo once you decide fully on your first four cultivation paths. Ready for Xilec?" The veteran questioned.

"That I am."

The two teleported to a waiting room where they promptly sat and waited for several bureaucratic matters to pass.

"During your weapons assessments, I didn't see you use any spirit energy. I hope you don't mind me asking, but have you settled on a primary cultivation path yet?"

Luke let out one of his incorrigible grins. "No, indeed I have not. You could say that I was waiting for a chance enounter, and decided to play out my cultivation as a card creator first to pave a way for a stronger primary path."

"That is indeed very wise." Lawrence stated. "Now that you're an EX pilot, though, it could be said that you've found even greater luck than you ever would as a card creator alone."

"Indeed." Luke murmured.

"General Jaywalker? Your paperwork is complete." One of the staff members came up to him and saluted.

"Good!" Lawrence exclaimed. "Kid, come with me."

The two teleported away, leaving a startled staff member. 'He called the general a mere kid…'

The two teleported directly into a long-distance star shuttle. The shadow envoys were already onboard.

As the shuttle took off, Lawrence began to explain the situation to Luke. "Travel back and forth takes roughly an hour and a half out of a starday. You are allowed to leave the Legacy to manage your planetary affairs at any time."

"However, you are required to have the nessecary paperwork signed, in order, and filed, as well as bring the required number of Shadow Envoys and be available at roll call the next morning."

"Understood."

"As the planetary leader and an EX pilot, the population of your planet will explode. In addition, the neighboring star systems will likely proffer deals to you."

"It's up to you whether or not to accept them; in all things, I recommend patience. The deals will stay on the table until you accept an opposing offer."

"The general trade of your planet will boom- it's a wise time to capitalize on your natural strengths."

"As for the previous leader, Xilec was owned by an interplanetary corporation, Wavemount. The Federation thanked them for their service and paid them the last one hundred years of the planet's profit. "

"The rod and crown of Xilec now belong to you. As the natural course of things, a small coronation ceremony will be held tonight. You can decide whether or not to make it public."

"Any questions?"

"No, you explained it pretty well. I'm okay with a small clip of the crowning itself, but I'd rather keep the rest low-to-ground as much as possible. The more mysterious I am, the better origin story I can create and promote."

"Agreed. It's good that you have a head on your shoulders. Any EX Pilot can create a planetary boom- but how he or she capitalizes on it will push them forward to further or lesser bounds."

"There's not much to do before we arrive. I recommend you use your Navi to search for related data on the planet before we land. With your top-secret clearance, much more will come to light than your pevious knowledge of the planets affairs."

Luke took the advice and quickly began to peruse the military's knowledge of the planet Xilec.

The planet itself had no primary source of income, instead selling itself primarily as a tourist attraction to offworlders and little to no factories. The schools had no primary cultivation path and instead focused on readying children for leaving the planet.

The planet mostly made its money off the orbiting moons. The miners would occasionally find "moss rocks," small iterations of the moons themselves, which were valued as a form of cultivation resource.

Selling these, the planet made a profit large enough to keep the planet afloat.

It seemed that, as the planet's new leader, he would need to diversify the planets' portfolio.
