Chapter 7 - Chapter 3 S/L, Moving Forward [New Book, Please Collect]

Five minutes later, Ren Zhong returned to the Frozen Storage and tried to tap the LCD screen with his fingers.

He already had an idea.

Pushing the limits of his S/L ability, he intended to make good use of all the resources available before him.

As long as he could move one step further forward each time he resurrected, it would be a tremendous success, bringing him closer to the dawn!

The LCD screen prompted him to enter his identity verification code.

Ren Zhong tried entering his 18-digit ID number, and successfully verified to access the administrator functions.

He scanned the information and found maintenance design diagrams and inspection manuals for the Frozen Storage inside.

After some rummaging, he pulled out a drawer-like box from the top of the Frozen Storage, which contained a portable toolbox.

The tools inside the toolbox were mostly well-preserved; the wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers were still usable, comparable to the grease-paper packages found in Germany's sewers.

With this gadget, Ren Zhong removed two components from the Frozen Storage.

An alloy iron rod measuring 1.2 meters long, and an auxiliary airborne computer with voice input capabilities.

This computer wasn't the main control system of the Frozen Storage, just an auxiliary tool for the operator to input information and check the operational status of the storage from the outside.

Deep inside the storage, there was another set of independent operation maintenance systems, unaffected by external disturbances and with higher stability.

The purpose of Ren Zhong taking this was to use it as a notebook, organizing the usable information collected in his memory for easy analysis.

After finishing the tasks, Ren Zhong quickly went to the creek, timing it perfectly to shake open his clothes and catch the red fruits falling from the sky.

He washed them in the creek, placed one in his mouth, and took a bite; sweet juice splattered, and it was crispy.

Then, Ren Zhong pulled out a palm-sized computer from his pocket and began entering information one line at a time using voice input.

About half an hour passed, and he stood up, taking a few steps to the side, and once again shook his clothes open.

He didn't need to look up; something naturally fell straight from the sky.

Great, the second fruit was in hand, and he was full.

About an hour and a half later, Ren Zhong's figure appeared in the dense forest's southern direction.

In the distance, a floating black shadow was moving along the undulating terrain, more than five hundred meters away from Ren Zhong.

It was the Flying Device No. 11899.

Without hesitation, Ren Zhong started to chase.

Of course, he wasn't inflated enough to try hunting this thing, he only aimed to follow the route of its progress to break through the first encirclement.

After walking quickly for about an hour, Ren Zhong succeeded in dashing out before converging towards the Flying Device No. 11897 from the east, entering a safe zone.

Ren Zhong stood still and pondered for thirty seconds.

Moving forward another five kilometers, he would enter the territory of the giant insect with a three-meter wingspan.

The insect had six wings, arranged three on each side, with two long and one short on each side.

The wings were extremely thin, semi-transparent, and under the sunlight, they emitted a rainbow-like fluorescent light, with dark veins spreading out like leaf veins. The wings had a certain toughness, with serrated edges that were very sharp.

The insect's body was shaped like a long strip, thick at the front and thin at the back.

Behind a human-sized head, eight slender legs as long as human arms were concentrated in the front half of the body, with the latter half comprising more than seven-tenths of the body's total length, like a nine-section whip.

When flying, the insect obtained lift and thrust by vibrating its wings at high frequencies to stir the air currents.

This insect's shape was very similar to a dragonfly, as Ren Zhong remembered, except that its body structure was exceptionally solid, producing a metallic clinking sound when struck by a stone.

The dragonfly's glass-like wings looked fragile, yet when it once swooped towards Ren Zhong, the wings easily sliced through a tree trunk as thick as a thigh.

In addition, the dragonfly's long legs, roughly the thickness of a finger, seemed to be made of an alloy material. The sharpness of the hooks and barbs at the front of the long legs was comparable to a surgical knife, slicing through flesh as easily as cutting through tofu.

Don't ask Ren Zhong how he knows this so well; he doesn't want to recall it.

The dragonfly was precisely the breakthrough Ren Zhong had chosen.

Although the dragonfly seemed terrifying, after careful comparison in his mind, Ren Zhong felt it was the easiest to deal with among all monsters.

A "little rabbit" might look cute, but it ran as fast as lightning. More crucially, no matter how hard Ren Zhong thought, he couldn't figure out how to deal with this creature; its offense and defense were seamless.

As for the electric fish lurking in puddles, it was even more excessive, as he never saw it each time and would inexplicably be electrocuted from below, burning with blue fire, sizzling as he died in an even more dreadful and inexplicable way.
