Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: True Hero.

Koneko ran with all of her strength.

Running away, breathing loudly, with tears continuously streaming down her eyes.

Cursing the unfair world.

She was all alone.

Left by her parents.

Betrayed by her sister.

Pursued by the devils.

The only thing she could do.

Was run.

Her vision became blurry, unable to distinguish the path ahead.

Suddenly a wave of mana hit her back, cutting through her skin, making blood flow out.

Feeling the immense pain, Koneko lost her footing and fell harshly on the ground, rolling helplessly in the process, scraping her arms and knees.

'Why?'

Her shaking gaze fixed on the upcoming devil pursuers.

'Please tell me why?....'

Her chest started hurting badly.

'Am I the one who's always getting hurt?..'

Why always her?

Did she noticed deserve happiness?

Did she noticed deserve love?

Did she not deserve.....anything?

Bitting down on her lower lip she tightly closed her eyes.

And for the first time in her life.

She called out in a small voice.

"....help...."

A pitiful cry for help.

That was meant to go unanswered.

....or was it?

*Boom*

Along with a loud sound, a crazy wind pressure hit Koneko's face, making her instinctively raise her hands.

Barely opening her eyes, she tried to see ahead.

And through the gaps between her fingers she saw it.

A white cape, flowing freely with the wind.

Koneko's eyes widened.

Slowly retracting her hand, an unfamiliar figure appeared in her vision.

It was a child who looked no older than her.

He stood there.

Wearing a weird yellow costume.

His figure, mixing with the rising sun.

Staring unblinkingly at him, Koneko opened her mouth and asked almost instinctively.

"Who.... are you?...."

As if he heard her, the boy turned his head and said with a confident smile on his face.

"Just a kid who's a hero for fun."

He was small, so small and yet.....

His back completely filled her vision.

But.

It wasn't his cheeky line, or his weird costume which attracted Koneko.

No it was none of that.

The thing that attracted her most, was that unwavering smile.

It was something only those who had absolute and unbending trust in themselves could bring.

A smile which brings warmth and a sense of safety.

A smile which she could never forget.

A smile given to her by her bald knight in shiny armour.

----

Releasing a small breath Koneko opened her eyes.

"That dream again....."

A small smile unconsciously formed on her face.

Getting up from the bed she stretched her arms and looked at the clock.

It was time to wake up.

Wearing her pajama, Koneko got out of the bed and put on her slippers, Walking towards the bathroom.

After brushing her teeth and washing her face she made her way down stairs.

Suddenly the sound of television entered her ears.

Koneko narrowed her eyes and slowed down her footsteps, quitely coming down and looking towards the hall.

There she saw a familiar bald head, sticking out from the sofa, playing video game on the TV.

Koneko tightly clenched her fist and quitely tip toed her way forward.

After she came in range, her eyes glowed with a dangerous light.

Raising her hand she sent a punch straight at the shiny bald head.

The next moment a painful voice spread throughout the house.

"Koneko why?!"

Saitama said while grabbing his head and giving Koneko an unresigned look.

Instead of replying, Koneko again raised her arm and punched at his head.

Saitama hurridely dodged.

"W-wait! Koneko! Wait-no wait! Damn!"

Hurridely avoiding her barrage of punches, Saitama quickly went inside a nearby room and closed the door.

"Calm you anger Koneko! Violence is not the answer!"

Looking at the closed door, Koneko replied plainly.

"Open up or I'll break it."

"...."

"I am serious."

Saitama gave in and opened the door.

It was expensive to get it repaired after all.

Seeing his downcasted face, Koneko turned around and said in a light voice.

"You can play for 20 more minutes, after that come for breakfast."

"We have food?"

Saitama said almost instinctively.

"...there are some eggs left, you'll have to go buy grocery for lunch."

"Oh ok."

Saitama nodded his head then went back to the sofa and started playing video game again.

Koneko looked at him then at her clenched fist, then looked back at him and again looked at her clenched fist.

After thinking for a moment, she released a small sigh and went towards the kitchen.
