After Hector was given the weapon he was suddenly was transported to another district, it was still the same district in the apocalyptic place but he was now transferred somewhere else that none of the others would know.
"Mikeal Park, may you please come forward." Lt. Ashley Grey called Mikeal up next.
Mikeal knew very well what was going on, while others were still trying to figure out on where did they take Hector, Mikeal already knew the answer to that. And now that it was his time he knew that he too might be sent somewhere else.
Lt. Ashley Grey busy looking at Mikeal's file with her advanced tablet, "Mmh, I see that when you were still young you were taught by one of our own. And looking at the information I can admit that he was one of our best."
Mikeal's face expression suddenly had changed, and Lt. Ashley Grey knew exactly what she had done. To hide her shame and end the awkwardness, she continued.
Typically, the very same person that they were talking about was none other than Lt. Solomon Grant, he was one of the best and greatest first liner right before the time of Lt. Ashley Grey, but he was also Mikeal's guardian after his parents were brutally eaten and murdered by a cannibal.
So after being assigned as a guardian the late Lt. Solomon Grant found himself looking after a boy who was damaged for almost a year, Mikeal had suffered bad trauma that he didn't allow himself to speak for half a year.
But then again, like all things good and bad his silence came to an end, and he was now getting comfortable around his guardian becoming friends and became a family in the end.
It was no secret that Lt. Solomon was in love with this kid, some of the old officers knew the boy named Mikeal Park, from the very young age.
But after two years of being a family Lt. Solomon Grant was sent to fight off against these cannibal creatures, the secondary grade since that time they were still newly discovered and for some reason Lt. Solomon Grant never returned home ever again.
"Do you know what this is?" Lt. Ashley Grey asked Mikeal as the shelf appeared before them again.
Mikeal stood there in silence, not answering the question he was asked. Lt. Ashley Grey stepped aside.
"Okay, please choose your own weapon of choice." she ordered.
Eventually, Mikeal stepped forward and before taking a decision he took a closer look at the shelf before him, with it carrying four last weapons.
Moving his hand around and making a tough decision, Mikeal didn't know which one to take and which weapon he shouldn't. As he would touch one and let go of the other.
Everyone else was waiting anxiously for their turn.
"It's okay take your time, choose the weapon you believe is right for you." Lt. Ashley Grey not rushing him.
Then Mikeal looked at her, then looked at Alexia took a deep breath.
"Here goes nothing."
He attempted to take one, but something else that he didn't think was even impossible happened.
"Ouch!" Mikeal removed his hand away from the weapons so fast.
Then a notification appeared to warn him about what had just happened.
[Donor is not compatible with this material]
[The system has found this material harmful to donor]
[The system rejects this material]
What had appeared before Mikeal's eyes was one of the few things that he didn't quite understand about this new system of his, and the reason behind it rejecting the weapon and Mikeal screaming was because all of the weapons had reacted to Mikeal and not in a fun and good way. These weapons kinda burnt him.
Which was something new and something that never has happened before to anyone before him, Mikeal nursing his burned hand.
"Mikeal is there something wrong?" Lt. Ashley Grey confused.
Mikeal thought carefully about his next answer.
"Uhm, yeah I think that I'm actually allergic to these weapons."
The same weapons that Mikeal couldn't be able to hold were known as Brands, these were military high grade weapons that could cause any harm to the cannibals. Because of what they were made of and from.
"Excuse me, did you say you think you were allergic to these weapons?" Lt. Ashley Grey couldn't believe what she just heard.
"Yes." Mikeal answered.
Lt. Ashley Grey turned around and spoke in her earpiece, "sir, one of the candidates has just said that he was allergic to the weapons sir, what should I do?"
"Let him be, let's allow him to take the test. Just give him the suit." The man on the other side of the earpiece told Lt. Ashley Grey.
"Roger that sir." Lt. Ashley Grey turned back and faced Mikeal, with an expression of doubt and worry about all this, "Okay Mikeal, since you are allergic to the Brands I'd like to give you an offer of wearing a suit for the test, is that going to be okay for you?" Looking at his eyes.
"Yes, that is fine with me." Mikeal accepted the deal offered to him.
Another soldier with a cap appeared before Mikeal out of nowhere and handed him a suit that was well formed.
He really didn't say anything much, after Mikeal took the suit from the capped soldier. The soldier just pointed him where he was going to change into the suit.
Mikeal looked at Lt. Ashley Grey all confused and not sure what the hell is happening.
"Well, go on now we're all waiting for you." said Lt. Ashley Grey.
Mikeal went in to the place they pointed him in, it was an old beaten building but still stable better than the other buildings, after a matter of minutes. He came out dressed in that suit.
It was an exo-skeleton suit, a specialised suit given to the first liners who didn't yet yield a Brand.
After Mikeal came out, Lt. Ashley Grey was busy tapping on her tablet, "Are you ready?" she asked.
"I think s-" right before Mikeal could respond he was mysteriously transported in another district place, all on his own and alone.
In the district that Mikeal was sent too, was an old and forsaken district like those places that no one resides in anymore in apocalyptic cities, this city; had a dangling welcome sign rusted the only words that were visible was P. L .A . U. N. D. The buildings were so old they even felt haunted, on the empty streets there were skeleton bodies lying everywhere of all ages young and old. Even one skeleton was sitting by the street corner holding on to a hardly recognisable stuffed bear.
Mikeal looked around and saw everything that he saw, he was all alone and the others were nowhere to be found, he was the only living being there.
A big screen size TV turned on and on the other side was Sgt. Damascus going through the file of Mikeal which they have collected from his previous school.
"Mikeal Leonidas Park, age 16, parents deceased, guardian deceased. Interesting, now all you have to do is to survive these primary grades cannibals then we'll see where you deserve to be classified. You have one minute to prepare yourself, and good luck because you'll need it."
Right after that shared information gave by Sgt. Damascus the TV turned off and a big countdown started.
Mikeal didn't need to be a smart person to know what the sergeant meant, he was told long time ago during his stories that in order to be the first liner. All you needed to do was kill down a few Primary grade cannibals especially those graded to level three.
And the only reason that was going to be possible is if you have a Brand by your side, but since Mikeal didn't have one. It was obvious that he was doomed to fail.
Not sure what is the next move he should take, it's either he hides or tries to fend off the cannibals on his own without any help from the most important weapon a Brand.
The countdown reached its final countdown and a loud, blaring alarm rang alarming everything single inhabitant of Mikeal's test and just as he suspected a crowd of low grade cannibals came flooding, all of them running towards him.
"Oh shit." Mikeal looking at a number of hundred plus cannibals heading straight for him.
To everyone who hasn't taken the test yet like the others and the rest of the new students who had just joined the military were watching through wide-eyed screen view, all of them having that experience view.
"Oh he's a total goner." Griffin said with his arms folded.
The cannibals were tumbling on one another all hoping to reach for Mikeal first, because from the number of those things it was no secret that a skinny kid like him wouldn't even be enough to be an opening course.
Mikeal had no choice but to do one thing that would give him a surviving chance, and if he wasn't going to allow his lust for revenge not take clouded judgment. He knew that he never had a choice but.
To run for his life.
