Chapter 40: turning point one!

Kieth felt a surge of energy coursing through him as the system's announcement echoed in the pocket dimension. The sterile hospital room around him shimmered, the walls flickering like a mirage before solidifying into a more vibrant, dynamic environment. The air crackled with potential, and he could feel the weight of his abilities returning to him.

"Serena, are you ready?" Keith asked, his voice steady and filled with determination.

Serena nodded, her eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and apprehension. "I am ready, Sir Kieth. Let's go save our friends!"

With a deep breath, Kieth focused on the exit point, feeling the system's energy envelop him. "Metatron, initiate exit sequence!"

Notice! Exiting pocket dimension in 3... 2... 1.

As the countdown reached zero, the room around Kieth and Serena dissolved into a swirling vortex of colors, like a kaleidoscope spinning out of control. The air seemed to thicken, becoming a tangible force that pushed against them, and Kieth felt his stomach drop as they were propelled forward.

The vortex burst apart, depositing them into a completely different environment. Kieth's eyes adjusted slowly to the bright sunlight, and he saw that they were standing on a windswept mountain peak, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape.

In the distance, Kieth saw the majestic spires of the Dragon Kingdom, its towers and battlements glinting like gold and silver in the sunlight. The air was filled with the sweet scent of dragon smoke, and Kieth could hear the distant roar of dragons, their voices like thunder in the mountains.

Serena stumbled, her eyes wide with wonder. "Where are we?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Kieth's gaze swept the horizon, his eyes locked onto the Dragon Kingdom. "We're near the Dragon Kingdom," he said, his voice filled with a sense of awe. "It seems the system has brought us closer to our destination than I expected."

A robotic voice echoed in their minds, "Notice! After rebooting, system analysis increased, allowing the player to use Teleport (Temporary). One-time use only skill."

Kieth's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with the implications. "Player?" he replied, his voice questioning.

But the system ignored him, continuing with its announcement. "Notice! Player skills and other functions of the system are going to have a brief revamping. Do you want to initiate? Yes, no?"

Kieth's face twisted in frustration. "Fucker! Fine, revamp yes!" he spat, his voice echoing through the mountain air.

The system responded, its robotic voice devoid of emotion. "Revamping initiated. Please stand by."

Kieth's eyes flashed with annoyance, but he knew that he had to wait. The system's revamping could potentially give them an edge in their quest, but it also risked disrupting their plans.

Here's the revised continuation:

Kieth's eyes flashed with annoyance, but he knew that he had to wait. The system's revamping could potentially give them an edge in their quest, but it also risked disrupting their plans.

As they waited for the system to finish its revamping, Kieth and Serena decided to make the most of their time. And decided to walk towards the dragon kingdom.

As they walked, Kieth's eyes widened in amazement at the breathtaking view before him because he was greeted by a view he never expected this dragon kingdom would have. The Dragon Kingdom stretched out in all its glory, a paradise of lush green forests, sparkling crystal lakes, and towering mountain peaks that seemed to touch the sky.

The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the soft chirping of birds could be heard in the distance. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the trees, creating a soothing melody that seemed to lull the very mountains themselves to sleep.

Kieth's gaze wandered over the landscape, drinking in the beauty of the scene before him. He had never seen anything like it before. The sheer scale of the landscape, the vibrancy of the colors—it was all so overwhelming.

Serena watched him with a smile, amused by his reaction. "You've never seen a view like this before, have you?" she asked, her voice teasing.

Kieth shook his head, still staring out at the landscape. "Well, in my world, we pretty much deforested most of our lands," he said, his voice filled with a mix of sadness and wonder. "So this kind of scenery is very rare for me to see."

Serena's expression softened, her eyes filled with understanding. "I'm glad you get to see this, then," she said, her voice gentle. "It's a reminder that there's still beauty in the world, even in the darkest of times."

Kieth nodded, his eyes still drinking in the view. He felt a sense of peace wash over him, a sense of wonder that he hadn't felt in a long time. He knew that this was a moment he would never forget.

Serena smiled wistfully, her eyes still on the breathtaking view. "I see," she said, her voice thoughtful. "Well, I thought the dragon's place would be pretty much deforested or whatever because of some of them rampaging or something. Or because of their size," Kieth asked, his brow furrowed in curiosity.

But Serena's expression turned serious, her eyes sparkling with a hint of pride. "They have a law for that," she said, her voice firm. "No one is allowed to transform into their dragon form within the kingdom's borders unless it's an absolute emergency. And even then, they have to be careful not to damage the land or harm anyone."

Kieth's eyes widened in surprise, his mind racing with the implications. "That's impressive," he said, his voice filled with admiration. "I wouldn't have thought that dragons would be so... considerate of their surroundings."

Metatron's robotic voice chimed in, explaining further. "The Dragon Kingdom's law is based on a promise made by the previous Dragon King, who ruled over 100 years ago. He was a wise and just ruler who valued the land and the creatures that lived within it. He made a pact with his human friend, a great warrior and leader, to preserve the land and keep it safe from harm."

Serena nodded, her eyes shining with a deep respect. "The Dragon King and his human friend built the kingdom together, using their combined strength and wisdom to create a sanctuary for all creatures. And the Dragon King swore to protect the land, no matter the cost."

Kieth's eyes were filled with a newfound understanding, his mind reeling with the implications. He had never thought that dragons would be capable of such foresight and wisdom. But it seemed that there was more to these creatures than met the eye.

As they walked towards the castle, Josh couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and wonder. The city was bustling with activity, with dragons and humans working together to prepare for the impending threat of the Demon Lord.

Grath laughed loudly as he eyed the city's defenses. "Hah! These walls won't hold up against the Demon Lord's army!"

Sir Aleric nodded in agreement. "We'll need to assess the city's defenses and come up with a strategy to defend against the Demon Lord's attack."

"But they don't seem worried though," Josh murmurs.

Lariel smiled sweetly. "Don't worry, friends. We'll work together to come up with a plan."

Keriel walked quietly beside them, her eyes fixed on the castle ahead.

As they approached the castle, Josh could see that it was heavily guarded, with dragons and humans standing watch at the gates.

The Dragon Queen's guard eyed them warily. "Halt! Who goes there?"

Josh stepped forward. "I'm Josh McKnight, one of the five heroes. We want an audience with your queen."

The guard's expression changed, and he bowed his head. "Very well, sir hero. I will inform the queen of your arrival. Please, follow me."

Josh and his companions followed the guard into the castle, their footsteps echoing off the stone walls. They were led to a grand throne room, where the Dragon Queen Valeria sat on her throne, a warm smile on her face.

As soon as the guard announced their arrival, Queen Valeria's face lit up with excitement. "Ah, sir Hero and companions! I've been expecting you. Please, come forward and let us speak."

The guard bowed and stepped aside, allowing Josh and his companions to approach the throne. Queen Valeria's eyes sparkled with warmth as she greeted them.

"It's so good to see you again. This is our third meeting, if I'm not mistaken," she added.

Queen Valeria's expression turned serious, and she leaned forward in her throne. "I have some extraordinary news to share with you, sir Hero. I received... I mean, we kings and queens received a divine revelation from the goddess Lycana."

Josh's eyes widened in surprise, and he felt a shiver run down his spine. "A revelation from the goddess?" he repeated.

Queen Valeria nodded, her eyes shining with an inner light. "Yes. The goddess has spoken to us, and she has revealed that the war with the Demon Lord has been postponed... for the time being."

Josh's companions exchanged surprised glances, and Josh felt a sense of relief wash over him. "Postponed?" he repeated. "For how long?"

Queen Valeria's smile returned. "For five years, Josh. And during this time, the goddess has instructed me to offer you and Kieth a place to train and hone your skills."

Josh's eyes widened in surprise, and he felt a sense of excitement and purpose. "Train here?" he repeated. "What does the goddess hope to achieve?"

Queen Valeria's expression turned serious once more. "The goddess believes that you and Kieth have a crucial role to play in the war against the Demon Lord and demon kings, and she wants to ensure that you are both fully prepared for the challenges that lie ahead."

Meanwhile, in a distant realm, Caine was undergoing intense training with the Pantheon Azura. Alongside him were Vismond and Chris.

Vismond was honing his stealth and agility skills, moving with silent precision as he navigated the training course. Chris, on the other hand, was practicing his magical abilities, unleashing powerful blasts of energy that shook the very foundations of the training room.

Caine, however, was... Well, being Caine. He was recklessly charging forward, his fists flying wildly as he attempted to take down Azura.

Azura, the powerful Pantheon, sighed in exasperation. "Caine, what have I told you about control?" she asked, her voice firm but patient.

Caine didn't seem to care. He just kept coming, his determination and enthusiasm outweighing his common sense.

Azura shook her head and raised her hand. A blast of energy shot out, sending Caine flying across the training room.

Caine crashed into the wall, groaning as he picked himself up. "What's wrong, Azura? Can't handle a little enthusiasm?" he asked, grinning.

Azura raised an eyebrow. "Enthusiasm is one thing, Caine. Recklessness is another. You need to learn to control yourself if you're going to survive."

Vismond and Chris exchanged a knowing glance. They had seen Caine get himself into trouble before, and they knew that Azura was just trying to help him.

But Caine just shrugged and grinned. "I'll get the hang of it, Azura. Don't worry about me."

Azura's expression turned stern, her eyes gleaming with intensity. "You need to hurry up and get strong, Caine," she said, her voice firm and commanding. "After our skill session today, you'll be fighting mana beasts. I expect to see significant improvement in your skills, or you'll be facing consequences."

Caine's grin faltered for a moment before he nodded eagerly. "Bring it on, Azura! I'm ready for whatever you throw at me!"

Vismond and Chris exchanged a knowing glance, their faces set with determination. They knew that Azura's training methods were unorthodox, but they also knew that she was pushing them to their limits for a reason.

With a nod, Azura gestured to the training area. "Let's get started, then. We have a lot of work to do before you're ready to face those mana beasts."

Meanwhile, back to Kieth's location.

As Kieth approached the castle gates with Serena by my side, the two guards looked at each other. "Another hero?!" They said and shouted again, "Sir Hero is here! Open the gate!"

The heavy gates creaked open, revealing a grand courtyard beyond. I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. Serena and I stepped forward, entering the castle grounds.

As we walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and purpose. We were here to meet with the Dragon Queen to discuss our role in the impending war against the Demon Lord.

I glanced over at Serena, who was walking beside me with a quiet confidence. We had been through so much together already, and I knew that we would face whatever challenges lay ahead as a team.

Together, we made our way deeper into the castle, ready to face whatever lay ahead.

I stood frozen in front of the throne room door, my eyes widening in surprise as the system notifications flooded my mind. "System notification alert... Congratulations, system is now updated... You're pet/bound Mochi is evolved...

" I whispered, my voice barely audible.

I felt a rush of excitement and anticipation as I read through the updates. Mochi, my beloved Behemoth pet, had evolved into a much stronger version. I couldn't wait to see her new form. I wondered what changes had taken place and how she would look now that she was no longer a cub.

"Well, that's why she's been missing," I murmured, a smile spreading across my face. I had been wondering where Mochi had been, and now I knew. She had been evolving, growing stronger and more powerful.

I continued to scan the notifications, my eyes widening at the sheer amount of new information. All of my pending quests, achievements, and rewards were now claimable. I could finally reap the benefits of all my hard work and progress.

New system messages and factions were available, offering me new opportunities and challenges. I felt a surge of excitement at the prospect of exploring these new options and seeing what they had to offer.

And then, the final notification flashed across my mind: "Congratulations for completing the tutorial quest! You are now officially a "player'! "

"Player, what?! Tutorial quest!!? "he shouted.
