I'm going to set up a bed in this lab, but okay, I'll think about that later. Now I had to get up and get my body to the armour. Raising my arms and starting to perform the usual circular movements, I caught myself thinking that I had forgotten about my hand heroes. Although Ulyana is not a handheld character, her character is likely to be the most problematic. Interrupting the portal creation, I switched my thoughts to the bunker where I had left the teenagers and created another portal.
Once inside, I found all the young mutants watching TV in the main hall. My appearance did not go unnoticed, and on me immediately crossed all the views of mutants.
-Hello, everyone, Ulyana, Sam, how's your training going. - Raine got straight to the point, stopping Dani and Renee from asking their questions.
-It's boring, even the results don't cancel out the endless meditations and repetition, repetition, repetition of fucking arm swings. One more week and I'll definitely kill one of those monks. - Ulyana replied grudgingly.
-I'm still not very good at controlling myself, but I've almost learnt to change direction in flight. - Guthrie replied with a frown.
-But that's okay, I've come to call you two to an unprecedented fight, where you can kill plenty and where poor ability control won't be critical. - Rain replied under Dani's very displeased look.
-No Dani, if they agree, it won't be humans they'll have to kill. - Predicting a question that hadn't been asked yet, Pierce said.
-Who? - Dani asked, voicing the question that was hanging in the air.
-Alien. I have an invasion of an alien race that wants to take over the earth in about ten minutes. - Pierce said calmly under the bemused stares of the teenagers.
-You're kidding, right? - Asked Rasputina in an unsure voice. All the same in Kamartadzha she discovered a lot about the world around them, and although the aliens did not pull and the hundredth place in the list of the most dangerous enemies of the earth, it still shocked.
-Well, the existence of magic might have been considered a joke by many of you recently, but this portal behind me is not working because of the power of science. I don't have much time, so I can't make small talk and I'll answer all your questions later. Right now I need your answer if you are ready to help repel the invasion? - Asked the pier looking at Sam and Ulyana not at all happy about the reality of the situation.
-Yes/Yes. -After a few seconds two teenagers answered.
-Okay, I'll send you to one of the enemy rendezvous points, and I have one more place to go. - Opening the portal Rain said.

Error... The system is rebooting... Expected reboot time is 168 hours!
That's what I saw when I tried to call up the system. Looks like the mind stone didn't go away for either of us. It was frustrating, but nothing too critical. The only function of the system still working properly was the telepathic radio with playlist access. Not too useful in combat, but a pretty good morale booster.
Climbing into the armour, I checked all systems and after making sure my armour was fully operational, I opened the hatch above the takeoff point.

-Pierce here, give me a status report. - Ryan's voice came over the Avengers' voice channel.
-Rain?! - Stark's voice sounded surprised.
-Pierce, Loki has opened a portal over Stark Tower. Now me, Natasha and Barton are clearing the alien landing party on the ground, Stark is shooting them down in the air, and Thor has gone to deal with Loki. - Quickly not confused by the appearance of an ally, Rogers issued a statement.
-Where did you disappear to? - Stark asked.
-Hulk sent me to get some fresh air. - Ryan replied.
-We found Bruce. - Steve alerted the team.
-Yeah? -Great, then I'll bring the party to you now. - Replied Stark.
-"A party? - Barton said, a little perplexed and out of breath.
At that moment Tony came round the corner, pulling a leviathan on a trailer behind him.
-He's got the wrong idea of a party. - Clint shot another unlucky Chitauri in the head.
-Bener, this is a good time to get angry. - Said the captain, looking at the monster approaching them.
-That's my secret, I'm angry all the time. - Replied Bruce starting to turn into the Hulk.
At that moment a black armour similar to Stark's brainchild appeared from above between two high-rises and under the surprised looks of the Avengers he, having let out of his legs long pins covered with flames, switched off the flight system and started a fast fall on the Leviathan. In a few seconds the armour overcame the distance separating them from the monster and, under Hulk's disgruntled and even somewhat resentful gaze, smashed through the alien creature's head, killing it instantly. The leviathan's body travelled another hundred metres purely due to inertia and stopped right in front of the disgruntled Hulk.
-I promise the next one will be yours. - Noticing the unkind look of the green giant said Rain activated the flight system and pulled his legs out of the broken skull of the enemy.
-What a guy. - Landing nearby, Stark gave Pierce's armour an interested look.
-Well done. - The captain expressed his praise briefly, not losing sight of the hole in the sky and all the enemies coming from there.
-Captain! - Rogers was called out by Romanof when she spotted two new Leviathans emerging from the portal.
-Yes, I see. - Replied Steve in a disgruntled voice.
-Command, Captain. - Said Stark.
-"All right, until we destroy the portal, we're gonna hold them off. Barton, you get up on that roof, keep your eyes peeled for the enemy. - Said the Captain, pointing to the building next to Stark's tower. -Stark, you're on the perimeter. Anybody gets within three blocks, turn them to flight or ash. Thor, get them in a crush on the way out of the portal, slow them down. You got lightning bolts, roast the bastards. Ryan, take out the ones that break through Thor and if you can take on at least one of the Leviathans. Natasha and I stay on the ground and beat them here. And Hulk, smash! - Finished handing out orders and watching the departing team members Rogers set about the task at hand.

Landing not far from where we were briefed by the captain, I activated Devil Mode. Externally, the suit was covered with red streaks in various places and steam began to flow around its perimeter. Inside, however, something worse awaited me. This mode overloaded the engine of my suit too much, and neither I nor the system would be enough for more than three hours. Not a single normal person can survive in these three hours inside, the heat level there exceeds 200 degrees Celsius and if it wasn't for my abilities and the cover protecting me from burns and painful death I would never have activated this mode. For this kind of abuse of my equipment and body I get a one and a half times increase in flying and manoeuvring speed, a three times increase in energy weapon power and an almost endless power source for armour for those three hours.
Thor has already started frying the Chitauri reinforcements, and it's time for me to head to one of the two Leviathans. Switching on Devil Trigger-RichaadEB I took to the skies. The Leviathan was about to ram into one of the office buildings and kill a couple of hundred people who hadn't had time to get away from the commotion. Since the creatures themselves can't fly physically and their only advantage is the ability to move through space without the need for defence, I decided to steer it away by damaging some of the antigravs supporting it in the sky. Ordinary weapons aren't particularly effective against the metal used by the Chitauri, but I had something unusual. Taking maximum acceleration, I activated the lasers on my wristbands and using 20% of the available energy, which immediately began to replenish, I was able to take down some of the anti-gravs and the Leviathan began to lurch to the right. While the animal was trying to steer and realise what had happened I activated the fragmented blades and covered them with fire and walked along the leviathan's back, making it more confused by the pain. When I reached the head and saw the protective plate, I realised that I couldn't reach the brains, and in its death throes the monster would destroy dozens of buildings. I had to act for sure, and I had one such option. Checking whether the wristbands had cooled down, I jumped down in front of the leviathan, giving it a chance to open its jaws and swallow me. The creature didn't think twice, and within seconds I was inside. Putting the blade in the palate and preventing it from rolling deeper with the rear turbines, I activated the lasers and with my other arm up I aimed at the approximate location of its brains. After the hit I heard a growl from the creature, which, however, subsided rather quickly and we began our descent. Since all Chitauri are connected to the ship's transponder and are logically just puppets, it was no news to me that their equipment would be switched off when their master died. So the jolt of landing was easy enough for me.
After getting out of the creature's mouth I decided to announce the elimination of one of the main threats.
-Leviathan destroyed. - Pierce said over the common channel.
-And I see Ryan has decided to go easy on us. - Stark's voice came through.
-Good, now you're needed more in the sky, there's too many of them Thor can't cope. - Said Rogers in a breathless voice.
-Guys, I've got some blonde with an energy sword stabbing aliens and teleporting all over the neighbourhood. Is it one of Thor's friends? - Stark asked.
-I don't know, there wasn't anyone of that description in the reports on the Assgardians. And someone already has a plan to shut this thing down, because I'm running out of arrows. - Said Clint over the sound of an explosion in the background.
-I'm thinking. - Replied Rogers.
-"Why don't we throw out the shooter and take that blonde instead? I haven't counted, but looking at the number of corpses divided in half, I can tell you she's a lot more useful. - Tony's snide voice came through.
-Stark, where are you now? - Asked Clint in a calm voice.
-Why are you here? - Stark asked amused.
-"I'm just trying out an arrow, and it's a convenient red target. Especially since I still might not be completely away from Loki's scepter. - Said Clint.
-The blonde was joined by a pink comet. Strike. - Said Stark releasing a missile strike on the enemy's Earth troops as all air platforms that flew into the area were knocked out by the comet.
-I think one of the shells hit Stark in the helmet. - Said Barton, releasing an arrow from the last dozen.
While Barton and Stark were clogging up the canal, I found a building where they were rounding up people. Flying into the first floor of the building through the glass inserts, I immediately blew the head off one of the Chitauri with my blade and fired two bursts at his colleagues standing a dozen metres away. Two machine guns, using AI based on the military analogue of the Warrior's, were extremely effective at correcting the location of the barrels, so the two Chitauri got several holes in their heads before they could even aim their plasma weapons at me. Jumping down from the balcony to the lower floor, I immediately rushed towards the main concentration of the enemy, shooting all the aliens scattered around the corners. I could have made a bloodbath of the seven aliens if my blades hadn't cauterised the Chitauri halves falling to the floor. Three died instantly, two more I broke every bone in their rib cage with blows reinforced by exoskeleton armour. The last one was shot in the head. When I got out, I was about to continue the reaping, but Natasha diverted my attention to herself with her next words.
-I'll lock up. Can anyone hear me, I'm going to close the portal. - Natasha said, drawing the attention of the entire team to herself.
-Close it! - Immediately the Captain gave the command.
-No, wait. We've been nuked for less than a minute before the explosion. - Stark interjected.
-"And I know where to put it. - Tony caught the missile.
"It's a one-way trip. - Said Rogers.
-"Stark, don't be stupid, take it to me! - Suddenly, Pierce's voice boomed out.
-"If she blows up in here, it's the end of New York. - Stark said without changing course.
-"Trust me, I can send her through the portal! - Ryan said confidently.
-If I die, you'll have no peace in the other world. - Tony said after a few seconds of silence and changed his flight path sixty degrees to the left to Pierce's position.
I realised that I had already failed a billion butterflies with my presence and a lot of things could go wrong in the future. But Stark is too valuable a variable to this world to risk his life. Who knows maybe this time Natasha will close the portal a few seconds early and he won't come back from the other side. So, not wanting to expose my colleague, though perhaps a bit of a friend, to unnecessary risk, I strained all the energy I had recovered and opened a twenty-metre portal above me, into which Tony could launch the AMP gift a dozen seconds later. I created the portal's exit opposite the Chitauri's breach, perfectly directing the missile towards the enemy's main flagship.
-Close/Close! - Tony and I shouted together, after which the beam from the Stark tower disappeared and a few seconds later the gap in space tightened, leaving in its place only a pleasant blue sky.
-You'll tell me later how you did it, but now we have a reindeer waiting for us. - Said Stark rising into the air and heading towards his tower.
