Chapter 15 - The Demons; Part 1

Thunder and heavy rains have been going on for a while at Farglade. The streets were already abandoned. A significant chunk was destroyed and up in flames. But the nobles never left. In fact, the whole event with Nephilim was being broadcasted in the throne room as they watched.

While some of the adventurers charged, one mage used his magic to chain all six of Nephilim's arms to the ground. A tank used his provocative skill to get his attention. Nephilim looked at him when the skill activated. That made them think it worked.

Two A class jumped to his face with swords, aiming for the eyes. They succeeded. Both of his eyes now had swords in them. The other S class mage was at the back preparing a magic attack. It was a massive fireball that was to fall right on him.

"Everyone step back." She said and they quickly obeyed.

Then the ball of fire fell on him and it exploded with great force that destroyed nearby buildings. Meanwhile, as there was fire everywhere inside the wall, ice covered the outside.

Nirvana was still breathing heavily from the sudden attack. When she looked at her back, whoever did it was completely frozen. Same case as the others who were hiding. They all froze with a grin on their faces since they thought they were about to sneak up on her.

When she came to her senses, she realized that there has never been a sword that caused that much pain to her. Using her tail, she removed the guy on her back together with the sword since he was still holding onto it.

She then placed them on the ground and grabbed them with one of her front limbs to take a closer look. When she did, she noticed how it had a weird shape when compared to normal swords. Then she was shocked when she came to the realization of what it was made from.

Inside the palace, only a small amount of guards were protecting the area since most of them were deployed to try and fight the monster. All of the ones remaining were protecting the throne room. Which means that everywhere else was completely empty.

This was the perfect situation that favored the demon in every possible way. He was trying to sneak into the palace for something he wanted. The entire time he was there, he never came across anyone. The rain also helped him because of how loud it was.

He followed a specific path with his destination in mind. The royal treasury. Where all of the money earned from taxes, businesses and other forms was being kept. But he had no interest in any of those.

He found the place he was looking for. Sure enough, the royal family cared more about their own survival that they left the place completely unguard. But the door looked pretty heavy and strong, probably unbreakable to most humans. Not for him though.

With the help of demonic dark magic, he touched the door and it almost immediately melted. He then got in anticipating to find what he was looking for. Without even bating an eye at all the gold and treasure in there, he walked to the end of the room where there was a hidden chamber.

"Finally. The first real step to bringing back our lord is right in front of me. Surely I'll receive an honor." He opened a concrete chest and looked inside. "What! What's going on? Where is it?" There was nothing in the chest.

At this time, where the adventurers and Nephilim were battling, the dust from the explosion began to clear up. They looked curiously at where Nephilim stood.

"Did we win?" A mage asked.

"Don't be ridiculous." The tank answered. "We just started."

"He's right." The voice came from within the smoke.

Nephilim didn't even move at all since they started attacking. They were shocked that he still stood and looked so calm after such attacks. He used his fingers to pluck the swords from his eyes then they instantly healed.

No healing magic can restore eyesight according to humans. Imagine their shocked faces when he looked at them with fully healed eyes. But the guild master didn't want to know what else he could do and grabbed his sword.

"Pull yourselves together." He said. "We knew this won't be easy from the beginning." Then he looked at Nephilim seriously and increased his grip strength on his sword.

He ran towards him at lightning speeds, ready to attack. He rushed in then went back to where he stood. That is what it looked like from the point of view of a normal person, but then blood from multiple injuries shot out from Nephilim's body. It turns out he slashed him multiple times in that split second.

He rushed in again but was blocked by a metal ring on Nephilim's hand, which was on every other arm. That made the old man flinch a little as he didn't expect someone to march his speed. He ordered the rest to attack at the same time.

Then mages began attacking with magic attacks. The tank used his provocative skill again but it didn't work that time. The weaker A and B class adventurers were the first to go out. Seeing that most used swords, they got close but were immediately crushed by two of those big arms.

At the same time, two other arms were blocking the old man's attacks. The other two blocked the mages' attacks and used magic of their own. Flames came from them with a huge force that aimed directly for the mages. But they were able to bloke it with defense magic.

The tank signaled another, who used a giant hammer, that it was time to use their attack. The one with the hammer ran up to the tank who stuck his shield on the ground facing Nephilim. The hammer struck the shield and a massive shockwave was produced that went directly towards him.

The others jumped out of the way then it hit Nephilim directly and caused his ears to bleed. Things weren't looking good for him. If only he didn't hold back so much.

"Now's our chance!" One shouted.

"Attack him with everything you've got." The old man commanded.

The mages were about to prepare magic attacks as the others charged. But then a beam of ice came through the wall and hit most of them. the rest were caught in a shock as they weren't expecting it.

Nirvana slowly crawled in through the hole she made. Her aura was on a completely different level than theirs. They felt as if they were being compressed under the weight of the world. They knew they've lost at first glance. The fact that she was there meant that the others had failed.

But she didn't care about them and only looked at Nephilim.

"'And so the battle began', must've have been the narration inside your head when they showed up." she said.

"You know me too well. What is it?" His ears healed at that moment. "Is there something wrong?"

"We need to finish this as soon as possible."

"Why?"

"I've got something that we need to look into. Everyone needs to see it."

"Oh. And what could it be?" He wondered.

"Something that shouldn't be here." She looked at the adventurers. "What's this? Only four S class and you're still fighting? How much were you holding back?"

"You never said to kill them. I was trying not to."

As he said this, Nirvana looked at the top of a nearby building and noticed they were being broadcasted by a magic gem that was placed there. It gave her an idea.

In the palace, the king was sitting on his throne wondering how she was still alive.

A few minutes ago, the king sent one of his best knights to the royal treasury to take the sword that was inside a chest. He was more afraid of the dragon lord and targeted her first. According to what his grandfather told him fifty years ago, the sword should be able to kill anyone, no matter how powerful they are.

Of course, his father didn't believe it. But because of how valuable it looked, it was locked away in their treasury. It turns out his father was right.

"Attention please. Can I get your attention." That was Nirvana's voice through the broadcast. She took a glance at the magic gem and learnt how it works. Then she scanned for anyone still alive and a magic window appeared in front of all of them like a phone screen. She was the one they saw.

"We never intended on destroying the entire capital. We only wished to have a talk with you." Some people tried running around but the magic window still followed them. That made them very scared.

"As you may or may not know, we are two of the four sector lords. The same 'monsters', as you may refer to us, that are powerful enough to take down heroes." This news came as quite a shock the adventurers who were bold enough to try and attack them.

"Now then, without further ado, lets get down to business." Immediately she said this, the ground beneath their feet began to shake. It wasn't any on them. Panicked screams could be heard from all over the city.

The shaking was more violent at the palace. No one understood what was going on. They didn't get the time to do so when a black figure broke through the floor and went all the way through to the top of the palace.

"AARRGGHH!" A scream accompanied the dark figure. "Where is it!? We cannot succeed without it!" Inside of the dark aura, there was a frustrated demon looking around for what it needed. Because of how he went through the palace, it began to crumble.

Those inside got crushed by rubble as blood splattered everywhere and the sound of breaking bones could be heard. The last of the knights ran to the king to protect him. His son and wife were also taken away from there.

The demon, who was still in the sky, looked at Nirvana and Nephilim angrily. "You. This is all because of you. Tell me where it is. I can't go back without it."

Nirvana realized what he was looking for. She couldn't give it away. No matter what.

"You're not gonna tell me? Fine. But I won't forgive you for ruining our plans. I will succeed." The demon and the siblings looked at each other with fierce eyes, ready to fight.

In Lenora, the day was as normal as ever. The weather was nice and bright and everyone was going through with their normal lives.

Grendel was in a workshop owned by the dwarves. They were eating lunch and drinking as they had a conversation.

Cassius, who had turned into a female again, was working at an inn owned by elves. He, or she, was helping them with the lunch rush. Hardworking demi humans often stop by that inn for meals. It already had quite the reputation.

Most of the males that go there, however, only go because of the beautiful elves there. Even Cassius was recognized as one of the most beautiful among them.

The city looked normal, normal in the eyes of the demons who were hiding in the trees to watch them. They nodded at each other and turned back. At that moment, Cassius stopped what he was doing and told the other elves that he has somewhere to be. Then he took of his apron and walked out seriously.

Grendel, who was still chatting suddenly came up with an excuse and said that he'll be back later. When he walked out, his expression suddenly became serious as he met with Cassius.

"Where did they come from?" Grendel asked as they walked together in one direction.

"Let's find out." Cassius replied then turned back to normal.

At that moment, the two demons returned to their leader and knelt down.

"My lord."

"Stop calling me that!" It was the guy in the cloak.

"Sir. It seems to be just a normal city. We didn't detect any presence of a powerful monster.

"First of all, its not normal if its a city of monsters. And are you sure about there being no powerful ones?"

"Yes."

"Lets not waste anytime then." Behind him, thousands upon thousands of skeletons and lesser demons stood there waiting for his command. Beside him were five other demons that were completely different from the rest. He was fully prepared.

"Onward! Let those who dared to hinder us pay for their actions."
