Chapter 4 - No Escape

Griselda

"Remove their head coverings," I said eagerly. Waiting to see what delectable treats were brought to me.

One by one the guards took off their blindfolds. The men looked at me with wide-eyes, which brought a smirk on my face.

I adjusted myself on my throne. My long flowing lace black dress lay graciously across the red velvety chair. The sparkling jewels embedded in the seat added even more to my allure, a stark contrast to my pale skin.

Once the blindfolds had been removed, I allowed them to gaze upon my countenance before adding, "I am Queen Griselda. And you are now my pets."

My sights swept over each specimen, as I dangerously licked my lips. I divided with my eyes which ones I would keep or give to the servants. Only a few in particular stood out.

"What the fuck are we doing here, release us bit-" Before the tall, burly ginger-haired man could finish his statement my fangs were already in his neck.

"Arrrrgggghhh," his scream pierced the air for a mere second. Before a finger could snap, I had already drained him of every ounce of blood in his body.

I licked the side of his neck, making sure not to miss a drop of blood and whispered in his ear, "did I tell you, you could speak darling." I could notice the frightened stares of the other humans, as no one could look elsewhere. I flashed my fangs at them, before tossing the lifeless body aside, and returned quickly to my chair.

"Do we have any other questions, comments, or concerns." My polished fingernails tapped against the armrest of the throne, waiting on my next victim to foolishly speak.

By glance, I could easily tell what each one was thinking. Most of them were scared out of their minds, but too prideful to show it. One in particular caught my attention. He was extremely nervous, and his eyes darted around subconsciously as if looking for an escape.

I could also tell he was no longer chained. An unknowing smirk found itself upon my lips, as I pretended not to notice. Without a second thought, a movement caught my peripheral vision. One of the mortals took off, heading to the first door they could see.

Before my guards could react, I stood in front of the human, blocking his escape to whichever door he planned on exiting through. He was even more foolish than I thought. The particular door he went for would only take him directly to my chambers.

I looked directly into his soul, my red ones glowing as if heated by charcoal. All of the hope and desperation had drained from his face, replaced by fear as my chilling next words hung in the air.

"There is no escape."
