Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Mix Up

James

There has to be some kind of mix-up.

Nothing that he said made any kind of sense.

My memory may be botched, but I know that I am not a bad person. Besides, what the hell is he talking about.

I decided to ignore the guy, and just explain to one of the guards that there has been a mistake.

I don't belong here, and should be released immediately.

Suddenly, a hooded figure in all black came around the corner. Once again, I couldn't see his face or make out any distinctions, but now was my chance.

"All rise," the man said. Everyone was mostly awake, and began to stand up, some using the wall for support.

"Excuse me sir," I mentioned. "I'm not sure what's going on here. But there's been a terrible accident. I'm not supposed to be here with these people. Please release me."

Before I could blink the cloaked man was standing in front of me. Extremely pale skin and piercing red eyes were mere millimeters away from my face.

The world stood still. I couldn't move, I couldn't blink, I couldn't breathe.

His lips curled up into a snarl, revealing long fangs. "I said quiet. Don't make me repeat myself human. Such disobedience will not be allowed in front of the queen."

A shiver went down my spine. Who the hell are these people?

Within another second, the hooded figure appeared at the front of the room. I felt a clothe somehow tucked inside of my palm. "Everyone, blind folds. Now," the low voice spoke.

I reached around my head to tie up the black clothe. I left a slight gap towards the bottom, so I could atleast still see my feet.

A slight tug on the chain, and I could tell we were instructed to start walking. Everyone's feet began to move, as I continued to think about what had just happened.

I couldn't shake this feeling that I may not make it out of, whatever this was, alive.

Through the tiny hole, I could see we were entering another passageway. A dark chamber that held men within cells. A putrid smell wafted into the air.

I decided it was better to close my eyes, than try to recount my steps for a possible chance at escape.

After a long walk of twists and turns, we came to a stop. I could hear several doors opening and closing, as we were ushered into another dimly lit room.

Once more, an intense quiet settled the room as if we were anticipating something.

Then, a booming voice filled the space. "All bow, for we are in the presence of Queen Griselda."

I could feel the chains around me slowly drop towards the floor, as I knew everyone had bent to the their knees.

I followed suit.

Next, a sultry voice commanded everyone's attention. "Remove their head coverings."
