Chapter 58 - Chapter - 55 Meeting

"Ughhhh,"

Grumbled a lone voice

The voice belonged to none other than the white tower master, Malekith.

she was a mix of annoyance and bemusement, and you can probably guess why.

The process of sifting through thousands of applications was tedious. While the whole endeavor could take mere minutes for someone with the mind of an archmage, it was still a tiresome task.

If I may remind you, a Mages mind is their most utilized asset. The mind when sped to its max could allow a mage to formulate calculation after calculation within spells, with a vastly superior mind a mage could increase casting times by milliseconds.

In other words, this is the difference between slaying your foe and dying.

But even with a sped-up comprehension, the task of repeating the motion and analyzing the same types of information could obviously become tedious and mal-interesting.

Especially since most of the applications she was reviewing were the same ones she had denied several times before.

"Ugh, haven't any of these people heard that repeating the same task over and over again in hopes of getting a different result is the very definition of insanity?" she expressed with a long sigh. "Just accept that you're not talented and move on with your life rather than squandering it."

Most of the applicants were, more or less, mediocre.

"Mediocre,"

"Average"

"Did they even try?"

"Nope"

"..."

"ugh"

"Finally something interesting,"

Mekith said finally displaying some emotion in her tone.

"It looks like the Blue Tower Master's first son has finally decided to accept my proposal to join my tower," Melkith said with a teasing laugh.

"Wait till I tell him, the look on Hiridus's face would be priceless,"

"Phew,"

Calming herself, Melkith resumed analyzing the applications displayed on the crystal tablet. This process of scrutinizing the applications with unfocused eyes continued for several seconds before she fixed her gaze on a particular applicant with interest.

"This one… is odd"

The applicants application was by no means special.

During Melkith's duration as a tower master, she had of course seen countless other talented spirit mages each with great prospects and high merit.

But this individual differed from the others.

Talent was not what provoked her mind, she could of course see that on the test results, but rather it was something more fundamental.

"That appearance is fake, and that name seems to be an alias," Melkith expressed

This was odd,

"Is he a spy from the other Towers," Melkith spoke repeatedly tapping her index finger on her chin. ," no that wouldn't make much sense, would it"

She was not naive enough to believe her fellow Tower masters would intentionally stir unneeded discord amongst one another.

The possibilities as to who this person was were large but…

Why would she care,

She was currently the strongest and most talented archmage. With her only being at the seventh circle she can display power which rivals all of the other tower masters, who all of which were at the eighth circle. This coupled with her being contracted with two spirit kings.

Truly make Melkith a force to be reckoned with.

If this person was a threat, she could easily kill or detain them.

"Yhanos spoke abruptly, ['That person…']

[,'He's giving off Glacias's spiritual signature,' came the reply.]

'The Ice Spirit King?' Melkith questioned

['Yeah,'] the spirit confirmed.

'So you're telling me the applicant is contracted with the Ice Spirit King?'

['Of course, How else do you explain the heavy aura of frost essence he's radiating?]

"But why would he use fake documentation" Melkith mused

****

"Are you applicant 94?"

asked a beautiful woman with sky-blue hair and a stoic expression.

I watched her for a brief moment before nodding and replying,

"That would be me."

The voice belonged to Edward, a young man who stood at 190 cm tall. His heavily built physique reflected the long, grueling years of training and strain he had subjected himself to. He wore a regal blue outfit with silver accents, fitting for a noble.

Well, of course, he was the firstborn son of the Lionheart family.

But the white tower did not know this, or well anyone, for all the world knew he was dead.

So he opted to choose fake documentation.

"fair," she spoke before continueing ",applicant 94 if you would, may you please come with me,"

The woman replied, tucking some loose stands of hair behind her ear while straightening her outfit.

Edward, hearing this began to grin inwardly while maintaining an indifferent front,

complying with the request Edward followed the fine looking senor

Walking for several minutes, Edward and the senior eventually entered the White Tower.

The view was as expected of a magi tower.

It could only be described as mystical, and otherworldly.

Marbled walls decked the lining, finely cut slates of gold and other valuable materials layered the floor and ceiling.

Compared to the outside view, the Tower's interior was significantly larger.

Feeling bored I watched the flow of spacial magic within the Tower.

But, it wouldn't take a genius to entertain the idea that spacial magic was present, much less detecting the complex mana waves being emitted from the magic circles.

Following my gaze the senor scoffed.

"It really is a breathtaking view, isn't it?" the senior woman said, tilting her nose upward.

Seeing Edward's lack of response, she continued, "Did you know that the 'Wise Sienna' is the only reason we have spatial magic within the magic towers?" She spoke with reverence, her purple irises glistening.

The senor sounded like a priest describing their god,

It was utterly boring and meaningless.

Ignoring her whole grandeur Edward followed with a posture as still as Mount Tai, and an indifferent expression, giving off an uneasy feeling to an observer.

"your very silent you know," the sky blue haired senor said before continuing "You could at least pretend to pay attention"

Finally, I spoke

"If I'll do respect, your uttering is meaningless, and to be frank I really don't care," Edward spoke.

"So please if you may, where are you taking me?" Edward asked glaring at her gaze

Startled by Edward's gaze, the sky-blue-haired senor felt annoyed by his response and replied with a sulky tone, "The Tower Master is requesting your audience," she spoke with a pout, shifting her gaze forward.

'What a jerk,' she thought, cautiously scrutinizing Edward. 'There doesn't seem to be anything special about him except his physique. Is that all?' she wondered, tilting her head.

Eventually, the two were met with a magnificent pastel-white colored door.
