Chapter 16 - Contest In The Arena

Skylar and company back in their shared room;

"So pretty sis, what's the deal with the points stuff" Skylar asked just after he settled on the golden rat's sleeping place, the cozy mattress-like platform; invading her space.

This thing feel so good, i might just doze off...

Skylar thought as he rolled on the platform with delight on his face like he owns it.

(Squeak "Ehm, Sky, the thing is, at the beginning of the battle, every participant is assigned a point value which correspond to their overall strength. And when someone kills another, the points the person they killed has is added to their own and also if they happen to be killed by someone else, that person will gain all the points they have, including the ones that were added. And like this those that make it to the end of the battle and kill others will become champions and are able to use the points they gain from killing to make certain corresponding demand from the arena master.") The golden rat sitting on the edge of the mattress a little distance away from Skylar with her hands placed on her knees as she fidgets nervously, explained.

"So that means it is the points you gain that gets you special treatment like those that get to eat meat in the dining hall at a special location." Skylar deduced as he rolled his body a little bit closer to her.

(Squeak "Exactly" ) he is sometimes smart (Squeak "You have to spend points to get the meats you obtained from the arena prepared and delivered to you")

The golden rat confirmed and added, and she also shifted her jittery body a bit away from Sky with her face blushing.

"Wait, who is the arena master?" Skylar asked after he rudely settle his head on the golden rat's lap, with his face looking upward at hers.

He is so close and his breadth and presence feel so good, i may not be able to endure this...

The golden rat thought, her jitters and excitement inflating and her eyes looking into Skylar's slowly turns a bit dreamy and teary.

(Squeak "Ehm, sorry, ehm..., the arena master is the green creature with limbs and a snake body")

The golden rat formerly absent minded replied after quickly and clumsily regain her focus.

So its that green bitch, i need to watch out for her tricks at the arena...

Skylar thought as he left the golden rat's lap and bed.

(Sighs) That was dangerous and scary...

The golden rat thought with a sigh of relief.

"Thanks sis"

Skylar said as he made his way to the center of the room in front of the pool containing clear blue water and colorful glowing stones and pebbles inside it.

He sat crosslegged in a lotus position and rested his hands on his lap.

That bitch knows about the fact that i won't really die in the arena, and from her point of view, she will make things a lot difficult for me, so...

He closed his eyes and tuned his senses to focus on the non-matter in his surroundings, especially below him in the earth.

As Skylar was immersed in harmonizing with the energy of nature, as seen from a spiritual aperture, his body at the point of contact with the floor began to glow bright green.

That shouldn't happen, the walls and floors are enchanted, the floor shouldn't in any way interact with energy, or...

The perceptive golden rat thought as she noticed the green glow flashing in and out of existence below Skylar.

Not long after, the green glow suddenly and rapidly dominated every corners of the room with its blinding brightness.

(Squeak "This doesn't make sense")

A loud squeak came from the golden rat who along with the other two dumbfounded roommate look transfixed at the strange happening on the wall and the floor of the room which is definitely caused by the glow from the oblivious creature at the center.

Day of the arena battle;

In an enormous large hall with dimensions approaching kilometers or more, filled with only thousands of creatures of different forms and size ranges. The hall has no ostentatious additions like the others, just plain white walls and a vault.

Skylar stood, daydreaming in front of the hall's front wall made of transparent fiber glass material, his eyes locked on the view through the screen in front, at the other side.

Is all this really some computer program, and if yes, who created and designed all this...

Skylar wondered in his mind, his eyes out of focus as he thought.

"He, he, uncle, i hope you are prepared this rate"

While he contemplates the voice of the serpent echoed in his head.

Where is this bitch exactly...

Skylar thought as he turned his head and looked around the hall to catch the sight of the green serpent.

"(Giggles) Uncle do you want me to brief you on what you should expect in the arena at this rate?"

No thank you, and just leave me alone...

Skylar responded as he returned his attention to the sight beyond the transparent crystal wall.

After several minutes of waiting a gaint black snake with an oppressive presence from somewhere at the back made its way to the front, right in front of the crystal wall.

Wow, their mood suddenly changed...

Skylar thought at the sight of the other creatures casting a serious look at the spot on the glass wall in front of the black snake.

A few moments later, the glass wall from the bottom rolled up slowly and completely into some space above it, leaving a large entrance to the paradise revealed outside the hall, the death arena.

"Uncle, pls do not cross the boundary line now, the battle will start when the light behind you turn green and then you can cross it."

The green serpent warned Skylar as he followed behind the large group of creatures contending to stand in front of the obvious boundary line that probably encircle the arena.

Thank you...

Skylar made his thought known to the green serpent as he miraculously took a spot right in front of the boundary line after he slid across under a slow giant creature blocking the path of some other large creatures.

So this is that inner wall where the viewing platforms are carved out...

Skylar thought as he looked behind at the sky-reaching wall that dip its head into the fog above.

He also carefully examined the spaces bounded at the front with transparent crystal wall like the waiting room earlier which is the viewing platform carved into the wall in rows and columns from its base to the top where it joins the mysterious looking fog above.

I think i get it, a champion of the previous arena battle or those before can pay point to watch the next one as long as they are not a participant...

Skylar correctly deduced as he took a quick glance at the exited creatures in the viewing platform through the crystal wall.

I can't see those far above, but i can sense three powerful presence in those directions, wait don't tell me its the wolf brothers and they took their spots according to the hour hand of a clock around the arena..., i see, so that's why these crowd of ferocious guys dare not act out of line... they can also feel their overpowering presence like i can...

Skylar thought as he fearlessly look up, look down and around him.

Wait if there are twelve waiting room won't our number be too much...

A blaring loud sound interrupted his thought. And a green light from who knows where above flooded the creatures below whose presence suddenly took a drastic change at the light which signify the beginning of a great massacre.

Skylar not falling behind disappeared into the thick forest of amplified proportion which any unbelieving human will call paradise.

The enormous trees, the herbs, the shrubs, the flowers, vines and all the beautiful plant lifes, some glowing brightly and some others, a part of them glowing, all spectate as Skylar approached a colossal ruined building covered thickly with plants of different kinds and glow.

I can bet that if i drop an orange seed on this glittering soil, it we grow up and bear fruit in less than a minute...

Skylar thought as he took with his hand a sample of the soil contained in a large ditch at the entrance of the colossal building.

He threw the soil to a side and continued forward.

"A temple."

Skylar muttered has he made his way in after looking carefully at the architecture of the building's front view.

"Hmm" there are even trees inside and that one is crazy tall, maybe taller than a skyscraper...

Skylar thought as he looked around the mini jungle inside the temple with some very large headless statues covered with mold-like green plants that doesn't glow like the others inside.

I will hide there, now, find me if you can crazy bastards...

And he continued in his thought as he approached the enormous tree that stand out inside the colossal temple.

Skylar with speed and flair scaled the tree's trunk with his hands like its a ladder to the top.

He chose a branch of the tree with a surface area that is as large as his bed back in his shared room as his hiding spot.

Yeah, let me chill here for the next 24 hours, till this boring game ends...

And he thought as he rest his body on the tree branch on his right side of his body with his face in the direction of the temple's entrance.

...

Not long after, Skylar who was almost asleep, opened his closed eyes, an action which was followed by a look of irritation and annoyance on his face.

These two bastards what do they want, are they working together or something else...

And he thought as he quietly sit upright, doing his best not to get discovered by the couple invading.
