EMMA
I woke up from the ground, my body aching from the emotional turmoil of the previous day.
Keila had helped me sleep, but the moment I was sure she had left, I sat up again, crying my eyes out last night.
I wanted to reach out to my family, to tell them what was happening, but I was scared.
Scared that Ian would hurt them, scared that he would use them against me. And besides, I didn't want to worry them. I needed to make them think I was happy, even if I wasn't.
Like a zombie, I checked the time. I didn't want to be late for work, no matter what I can't mix my pleasure with my job.
I stumbled into the bathroom, turning on the shower to wash away the tears and the pain.
After my bath, I dressed up in a simple black gown. It was a comfortable outfit for me right now, perfect for a day at the office.
I styled my hair in a simple bun and applied minimal makeup, just enough to cover up the dark circles under my eyes.
