"Argh!"
Kabutops' eyes were bloodshot as it let out a furious roar at Liam and Garchomp.
These ancient Pokémon were clearly not in great mental condition. Perhaps they had been asleep for too long and were abruptly woken up by the noise of Onix digging through the ground.
As a result, these newly awakened creatures were particularly irritable.
"Roar!"
Hearing Kabutops' roar, Garchomp refused to back down and bellowed in response. The muscles on its body tensed, clearly ready for battle at any moment.
Woosh!
However, before Kabutops and Omastar could make a move, two Omanyte and two Kabuto at their sides launched the first attack.
The two Omanyte opened their mouths, spewing out clumps of mud—Mud Shot, a Ground-type move.
At the same time, the two Kabuto were engulfed in surging streams of water, shooting forward like torpedoes—Aqua Jet, a Water-type move.
"Gar!"
Seeing the incoming attacks, Garchomp let out a low growl, stomped the ground hard, and caused jagged rocks to rise up from the earth.
A rocky peak shot up, blocking the Mud Shot, which splattered into a muddy mess on impact.
As for the two Kabuto using Aqua Jet, they crashed straight into the rock formation. Unable to stop in time, they became embedded in the peak, their tiny limbs struggling helplessly to break free.
"Roar!"
Although the attacks from Omanyte and Kabuto had been stopped, Garchomp wasn't done yet. With a mighty roar, it charged up the rocky peak at high speed.
In the blink of an eye, it reached the summit, then stomped down hard—shattering the entire formation into rubble.
Garchomp effortlessly leaped back while the two Kabuto tumbled to the ground, knocked out with swirling eyes.
Liam seized the opportunity and immediately tossed two PokeBalls, hitting both Kabuto with pinpoint accuracy. The spheres sucked them in and snapped shut.
"Kabuto!" "Oma!"
The ancient Pokémon had never seen a PokeBall before. The moment they witnessed their companions being sealed inside strange orbs, they panicked and charged forward in a frenzy.
"Garchomp! Dragon Rush!"
Liam gave his command as Kabutops and the others lunged toward them.
"Garrr!"
Garchomp bent its legs slightly before launching into the air with a powerful leap. Twisting midair, it landed securely on the cavern ceiling before draping itself in draconic energy.
With a mighty roar, it transformed into a flying dragon and charged toward the ancient Pokémon.
Seeing Garchomp incoming, Omastar immediately opened its sharp beak and fired a Hydro Pump straight at the airborne dragon.
The water blast struck Garchomp directly, causing a flicker of pain across its face. But with another enraged roar, Garchomp pushed through the attack, generating even more energy as it surged forward.
Finally, it rammed into Omastar and Kabutops with full force.
BOOM!
A powerful shockwave rippled through the cavern, sending debris flying. When the dust settled, a pile of unconscious ancient Pokémon lay at Garchomp's feet.
"Nice work, Garchomp!"
Liam quickly pulled out more PokeBalls, capturing the fainted Pokémon one by one. The balls shook a few times before settling, confirming successful captures.
After gathering the PokeBalls and carefully storing them in his backpack, a notification rang in Liam's ears.
[Ding!]

Liam: "!!! Another mission?! What the—"
Before he could even finish speaking, a piercing screech echoed through the cavern. A gust of wind followed, accompanied by the sound of powerful wings flapping.
A dark shadow shot out from the passageway, circling above Liam before landing atop a stone pillar nearby.
It spread its massive wings and let out an ear-splitting roar at Liam and Garchomp.
"Hah! An Aerodactyl! Looks like this one is the ruler of this area… and it's no joke. It's a bit bigger than usual, too!"
Liam scrutinized the Aerodactyl perched on the pillar. Its body was a pale lavender color, its mouth lined with razor-sharp fangs, and its gaze filled with menace.
But what stood out most was its size.
A normal Aerodactyl stood around 1.8 to 2 meters tall. However, this one was noticeably larger, its muscular body radiating raw power.
"Garrr!"
Garchomp had been eyeing the Aerodactyl since it appeared. Sensing the imposing aura from its opponent, its eyes gleamed with interest.
Stepping forward, it let out a challenging roar.
"Aero…"
Aerodactyl glanced down at Garchomp, a hint of disdain flickering in its eyes. With a dismissive huff, it turned its head to the side, clearly unimpressed.
"Garrr!"
Garchomp was infuriated by the blatant disregard. Snarling, it opened its mouth and fired a Dragon Rage directly at the pillar under Aerodactyl's feet.
BOOM!
The explosion shattered the rock, causing the entire pillar to collapse. Caught off guard, Aerodactyl flapped its wings frantically to stabilize itself before taking to the skies.
However, when it turned to glare at Garchomp, its eyes burned with fury.
"Garrr!"
Garchomp, completely unfazed, raised a claw and made a "bring it on" gesture.
Aerodactyl snapped.
With an enraged screech, it flapped its wings and dived toward Garchomp at high speed.
Liam didn't stop Garchomp. After all, the mission required him to battle the ruler of this cavern. Whether they fought now or later made no difference—so it was better to get it over with.
Aerodactyl swooped down, its massive jaws opening wide as an icy chill condensed inside—Ice Fang, a devastating move for a Dragon- and Ground-type like Garchomp.
"Garchomp!"
Liam's expression darkened the moment he saw Aerodactyl preparing an Ice-type move. Even as strong as Garchomp was, it would take quadruple damage from Ice attacks.
"Gar!"
Garchomp sprang back just in time, flaring its fins to swiftly evade Aerodactyl's bite.
Midair, it spun into a tight loop, flipping behind Aerodactyl before diving at full speed.
Aerodactyl was caught completely off guard. It never expected a wingless Pokémon to move so fluidly through the air, and before it could react—
BAM!
Garchomp slammed into Aerodactyl's back, sending it plummeting toward the ground.
"Argh!"
Aerodactyl roared in pain, but just before impact, it flapped its wings forcefully.
Skimming just above the surface, it pushed off with its legs and took flight once more, circling the cavern while locking eyes with Garchomp, its gaze now wary.
"Gar… Gar..!"
Garchomp, pleased with its hit, let out a cocky, taunting growl.
"Aero!"
Aerodactyl had had enough. Snarling, it opened its mouth as golden energy began gathering—
"A Hyper Beam! Garchomp, dodge it!"
Liam recognized the move instantly and shouted a warning.
Garchomp immediately nodded, focusing intently on Aerodactyl's movements.
However, a cunning gleam flashed in Aerodactyl's eyes.
Instead of firing at Garchomp… it turned and aimed directly at Liam.
Liam's heart dropped. A terrible premonition surged through him.
"Aero!"
Aerodactyl let out a low growl before unleashing the massive golden beam—straight at Liam.
"Why you little…..!"
