I hadn't expected Karsten to hug and calm me down the way he did, but I was thankful that he was there. The shaking wouldn't stop and I was unable to shake the feeling that past incident was coming back to haunt me.
Although my memories of that attack were blurred, I couldn't help but think this was somehow connected with that.
Did my past follow me here?
Or was it someone just trying to scare me? It could be a reporter who had unfolded the truth about my identity and was trying to blackmail me.
Different thoughts whirled in my mind and my hands went cold in my lap. I didn't even know when we arrived outside my apartment building and Karsten pulled into the parking space. Opening the door he helped me out and placed his reassuring arm around my shoulder.
"I will see you to your apartment," he said softly and I let him guide me forward.
