"May I?" Elijah asked me when I nodded my head and extended my left hand to him as he slid the red diamond ring into my ring finger. It was a perfect fit, and I know that this was specially crafted for me.
As we turned around to face the crowd, I saw everyone clapping for us with smiles on their faces while the music continued to be played. "Please enjoy the party," Elijah said when everyone began moving towards their tables. As the crowd dispersed, I saw Zander standing there with a look that broke my heart.
I wanted to go to him and tell him that this was all fake, but I couldn't do it. I felt Elijah's hand around my waist as he helped me off the stage, but just before we walked away, I turned around to face him. "My mother, you promised to save her," I told him.
