"Declaration of war?" Spider-Man 2099's voice was calm and cold. "No, I have no intention of making an enemy of the Cross-Time Task Force. However, your actions have already violated the multiverse laws, which could lead to the universe's destruction! I will never allow such a situation to happen again!"
"Violated the multiverse laws? Destroy the universe?" Peter displayed an exaggerated expression. "Wow! I never thought I'd end up being a big villain!"
"Gahaha, Boss, doesn't that make me a villain too?" Paper Bag Vulture leaned in, ingratiatingly cracking a joke.
Peter: ?
He rolled his eyes and pressed Paper Bag Vulture's head away in disdain. "Shoo, shoo, who told you to pop out? You're ruining your boss's glorious image!"
Paper Bag Vulture sulked as he walked out of the screen.
Spider-Man 2099 frowned at Paper Bag Vulture and said, "In Universe Earth-TRN1032, a supervillain named Vulture went missing. I assume it's that guy behind you, correct?"
"Hmm?" Peter was a little surprised. Without any direct contact, the opponent could immediately identify Paper Bag Vulture's origins at a glance—this showed that the Spider Society was well aware of worlds with 'missing children.'
"I've also heard that your Cross-Time Task Force includes a prehistoric pterosaur and three prehistoric tyrannosaurs. They should all be from Earth-66," Spider-Man 2099 continued.
"Roar roar, that's right, roar roar!" A massive head poked into the screen, exhaling hot air from its huge nostrils. Luckily, the screen was a magical projection rather than glass.
It was a colossal tyrannosaurus, bearing red and blue spider patterns on its body.
Its identity was obvious.
It was none other than Spider-Rex—once the mortal enemy of Pterosaur Norman—a peculiar Spider-Man from Earth-66, a prehistoric dinosaur era where dinosaurs possessed extraordinary intelligence.
"Roar! Damn Parker!" Pterosaur Norman had unknowingly appeared nearby, and upon hearing his old rival's voice, immediately responded with an angry roar.
This prompted his three underlings below to roar in unison.
"Quiet, quiet," Peter raised his hand to signal.
Pterosaur Norman quickly shut his mouth, while his three underlings disobediently roared a few more times, earning a flap from his wing.
Seeing how obedient Pterosaur Norman was under Peter's command, Spider-Man 2099 showed a surprised expression—though it was hidden beneath his mask.
However, this didn't improve his opinion of Peter; instead, it made him feel even more hostile.
Being able to command villains from different universes so obediently—what if Peter was an even greater evil?
No wonder the other party acted so recklessly, disregarding the universe's potential destruction. Not only did he refuse to send the 'missing children' back to their respective homes, but he also let them wreak havoc in other universes!
Villain!
A bona fide villain!
As he thought this, a hint of ferocity gradually appeared in Spider-Man 2099's eyes.
Through the lenses of his mask, he stared fixedly at Peter and said, "I now officially notify you in the name of the Spider Society: immediately cease all your activities, stop all operations of the Cross-Time Task Force, or—"
"Or what?" Peter's eyes narrowed slightly, becoming dangerous.
"Face the consequences!"
"Oh!" Peter chuckled. "Then I must ask, if the Cross-Time Task Force halts all operations, what happens next? Obey the Spider Society's orders?"
Spider-Man 2099 replied, "Disband the Cross-Time Task Force and integrate into the Spider Society. Based on your abilities, I will assign your positions. As for those guys, I will ensure they return to their respective homes."
"Return to your hometown?" The Kraft Paper Vulture poked its head out again, looking curious.
"You want to go back? Should I send you back right now?" Peter glanced at him.
"No, no, no," the Kraft Paper Vulture shook its head frantically. "I don't want to go back at all, Boss. Don't kick me out. You are electricity, you are light, you are my one and only legend, Boss!"
"Get lost! What kind of song are you even quoting? And you're even applying it in real life?" Peter scolded with a laugh. Lately, this guy had somehow dug up some old Chinese songs and had been shaking his head to them every day, saying it made him feel closer to Peter.
If it weren't for the fact that this guy was made of paper, Peter would have thought he had burned his brain out.
Seriously, he was acting way too crazy!
At this rate, he might just set himself on fire.
As for the others, Peter didn't even spare them a glance.
If Spider-Man 2099's words had held any appeal to the Kraft Paper Vulture, Pterodactyl Norman, and the others before, that was long gone now. They were already completely devoted to Peter—so much so that even if he tried to drive them away, they wouldn't leave. How could they possibly agree to anything else?
"Boss, should we take him out?" Pterodactyl Norman descended from the sky, landing on the empty ground behind Peter, and asked.
"Boss, how should we do it? How about I shove a bomb into his mouth?" The Kraft Paper Vulture glared at Spider-Man 2099 with a vicious look.
Gwen raised her wrist and gave it a little shake. "Threatening my man and trying to take over our turf? Maybe you should ask my fists if they agree with that."
Peter smiled pleasantly at Spider-Man 2099, patiently waiting for his teammates to finish speaking before shrugging. "See? None of them agree. I can't do anything about it."
Of course, Spider-Man 2099 could hear the mockery in his tone. He responded coldly, "In that case, I'll be taking these three subordinates of yours with me. Let's see if you dare come to the Spider Society to rescue them."
"The Spider Society? Oh no, how terrifying!" Peter feigned exaggerated curiosity. "I imagine it's filled with monstrous creatures, right? Maybe swarms of spiders crawling all over their bodies? Or zombie spiders, covered in rotting flesh, devouring people in big bites?"
Spider-Man 2099 frowned slightly, let out a cold laugh, and stopped responding to Peter.
He cut off communications and pocketed the communicator he had confiscated from the Spider Slayer squad members. He planned to take it back to his lab for further research.
In truth, he still hadn't figured out which universe the Temporal Task Force's base was actually in.
He knew that this communicator seemed to have a function for accessing that place—similar to how the Spider Society members' holographic travel watches allowed them to traverse parallel universes and communicate across dimensions.
But no matter how many methods he tried, he couldn't use this device to reach the other side.
There had to be some kind of recognition system in place.
Not that it would stop him.
Spider-Man 2099 was supremely confident.
As a top-tier genius from a high-tech future, he firmly believed that as long as something existed, he could figure it out!
"Take them. We're heading back," Spider-Man 2099 ordered. A portal to another universe opened before him.
Behind him, several Spider-People from different universes worked together to escort the three captured members of the Bone Spider squad.
Just then, a glowing orb suddenly shot out from the portal.
"Where the hell do you think you're taking my boys, you bastards?!"
