Inside the VIP room, Winter remained by Kalix's side. Though he was out of immediate danger, the exhaustion etched on his face made her heart ache.
He had not only dislocated his shoulder but also suffered a deep cut on his back.
"Wake up, Kalix. Talk to me—at least say something," she whispered, her lips trembling. The memory of the construction site flashed through her mind, and she instinctively reached for his hand, gripping it tightly, unwilling to let go.
A shudder ran through her as she thought of what could have happened—how close they had come to disaster if the emergency team hadn't acted in time.
"Don't scare me like that again," she murmured, pressing her lips against his knuckles, silent tears slipping down her cheeks.
The night deepened, and exhaustion eventually pulled her into sleep. However, the sound of heavy breathing startled her awake.
