"Excuse me. Do I know you?" Lily's expression turned blank, her words hitting Rita like a slap.
Rita's smile faltered, but she refused to back down.
"Come on, Lily. Don't pretend we don't know each other. We were friends all through university," Rita said, her tone laced with forced warmth.
Inside a nearby car, Gina watched the interaction from a distance, her brows furrowing in confusion. She tried to make sense of what was happening.
"Do they know each other?" she muttered to herself.
Meanwhile, Lily fought to keep her composure, refusing to be swayed by Rita's facade. She knew the truth all too well.
"I'm sorry, but I don't recall knowing you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a lot to do," Lily said, her tone polite yet dismissive. Without waiting for a response, she turned on her heel and walked away, leaving Rita standing there in stunned silence.
