After returning to his mansion, Elias summoned Lyra, and offered her a glass of water.
"It is safe here. No one will hurt you."
"Why?" Lyra asked, looking at Elias. "He didn't hurt anyone in his life. He even saved you! So why?"
She grabbed Elias by his collar and screamed, "Why was he killed?!"
Her gentle demeanor from before was nowhere to be found. The moment she grabbed Elias's collar, an electric current coursed through her body, originating from the contracted mark on the back of her neck.
She subconsciously released his collar and fell on her knees, crying in pain. Her painful cries echoed across the room, filled with her sobbing as she let out her pain.
Elias remained unmoving, gazing at the girl. There was only one answer to her question. The old man was killed because he tried to snatch freedom, which he wasn't allowed. He couldn't get himself to tell her that answer.
