Chapter 6
" Your brother", I asked in surprise, and shock causing me to almost choke after swallowing a lump of my chocolate and vanilla flavoured ice cream, the taste was heavenly, but what she said got me so shocked, which made me to swallow the lump of ice cream carelessly.
My face got a little red, seeing me almost chock and still in shock, Lucy carefully parted my back, and it was kinda soothing and it made me relax, then she stared at me and said.
"It's ok, you don't have to rush, see you almost chocked on your ice cream, that is why mum keeps telling you not to talk while eating", she said in a motherly tone, a small smile played on her lips in earnest concern concern for me like as if I was a baby.
Just then we both looked at each other's faces and burst out laughing.
"Hahahaha", who chockes on an ice cream", she said laughing hard.
"I do", I said and pointed towards myself while taking a bite of my delicious ice cream.
"The taste is to die for", I said happily, and chuckling.
Chocolate was my favorite flavor, Lucy's was strawberry so she had a strawberry mint ice cream and her cup was already half empty since she was faster when eating than me who has barely touched mine, cause I was devouring the doughnuts we bought along side the ice cream.
"Yeah", she said and we both laughed again, when the laughter died down I noticed that the driver was also chuckling, and he was trying to hide it, it seems like he was eavesdropping on our conversation, but we didn't mind at all cause we knew that whatever he hears stays with him and doesn't go out, he is kinda friendly though the driver was just about 5 years older than me and he is really handsome; with his perfectly shape jawline, dark blues eyes, black beautiful curly hair, thin lips and a sharp nose, he doesn't really fit a driver with his looks and that's why so many of Lucy's friends always want to take a ride with Lucy, so as to stare at him, and some of them even tried flirting with him and I would just chuckle at their childish behavior, he usually joins our conversations sometimes if asked to.
"Hey! Sasha", Lucy called at to me, waving her hand in front of me, cause it seemed to her that I spaced out.
"Yeah", I said coming out of my reverie.
"You ok", she asked concerned with a worried expression.
"No, am fine, just thinking about something, I said so as not to make her worry about me.
"Ok then", she said finally believing me then continued.
"As I was saying earlier, my dad's throwing a party this weekend for the success of his new business,which had yielded millions of naira and the arrival of his son, my brother, isn't that amazing",she asked excitedly.
"Um yeah, WOW! That's good news please, extend my greetings and congratulations to uncle", I said with a happy face that wonderful am so happy for him, it takes a lot of dedication and hard work to achieved that.
"Wow so your brother is finally back, that is good news", I said Nonchalantly then picked up my phone from my pocket and got busy with it not really caring about the fact her brother was coming back.
"Yh I would, I missed my brother so much and it's been a while since we last spoke, so am going to get him a lots of presents", she said not senseing my carefree attitude about her brothers return, with an excited look and joy in her eyes, I just frowned without her noticing due to her cheerful mood.
"Yeah",I said nonchalantly and finished my ice cream and tossed the cup in the trash can that was in the car, and continued eating my doughnut while using my phone.
But then I though about something and asked
"But why now, the mid term, I thought students in a boarding school aren't supposed to leave the school, except during visiting days or end of term to visit their families and loved ones", I asked curiously cause it doesn't make sense cause why would he just come back now, I guess something happened to make him come back, or maybe his dad asked him to come back.
"Well am not quite sure, I guess he has some issues, you know boys stuff, still, I want him to come back home", she said not caring about anything else.
"Yeah boys are weird, I experienced that one first hand", I said seriously and stopped using my phone.
She just rolled her eyes at me and picked dup her phone.
"Stop being dramatic, my bro isn't weird", she said, thinking I was being dramatic.
Before I could respond, she cut me off and jumped up and down on her seat excitedly.
" We have a party to prepare for, and we are going to the mall tomorrow, to buy new dresses and other important stuff", she said so excited and texting on her phone at the same time I guess she was talking to the designer or so.
Yeah that is her fun zone, why would you waste your time trying on thousands of dresses, and at the end you would buy only one, imagine some girls are so boring, I said to myself, I could use that time to read, and she knew I wasn't even a fan of parties I loved to do my own thing, but I couldn't tell her that or she would get mad at me and tell me I never do any good stuff and am so boring but I tried to nevertheless.
"Um Lucy, you know I necessary wouldn't want to mis...", I was saying when she cut me off with that dangerous look it seems like she already knew what I was about to say, mostly cause I usually declined going out to parties and other stuffs.
She stopped using her phone and said.
"There is no way you are getting out of this one, and we are going shopping tomorrow, and that's final", she said giving me a look meaning I dare you not to agree with me, which made me gulp in fear, my bestie is a lot of things but when she wants something, she must get it.
