I was so glad when she calmed down. She still had tears in her eyes. Caleb was here to wake up. I never thought I'd see a day when I'd feel pity for Caleb. Seeing him in this condition made me sad for him.
"You know, before he left the house, he said something to me," Emily said. I listened to her attentively. "I really don't know what he must have done to you, but he really cares, Amber. He cares so much that he talks about you with peace in his eyes."
I thought we were over this conversation. Why again? I wanted to scream at her, but then I didn't want to seem wicked since she was only saying all this because he was sick, and it was understandable. She stared at me. "He told me to take care of you and that you're in danger. I don't know why he thinks you're in danger, but he was so worried that he said he needed to rescue you."
